Its amazing this place stays in business! Please read all the negative reviews about the owner and his henchwoman the Dragon Lady! on the Google site and others. These are actually understated! Nightmare Deja VU!! I call yesterday @ 3:00 pm to inquire if there was live music that evening. An angry haughty sounding female Asian voice answered "Hello" (not Tokyo Steakhouse). I politely asked if there was a live band that evening and she replied yes and hung up. When my wife and I got there at about 7:00 pm it was as if we had walked into the middle of a family argument as both the "owner and h the staff we in the middle of a heated argument. We were Intercepted by the "Dragon Lady" and she very rudely pretended to have no room available. We glanced outside where the band was playing and it was maybe 1/3 full. BTW We are both in our middle 60s! We were seated and were immediately verbally assaulted by the "owner" I told him we wanted to simply to sit down, order food and drinks and listen to the band. He threw a few more cursed laden epithets and went away.I was amazed! After ordering drinks and chatting with our adjacent and equally disgruntled patrons the owner again came over to me cursing and physically pushing me. I told him to leave me alone and I was calling the Police. Instead I left. Please do yourself a favor and NEVER GO TO TOKYO JAPANESE STEAK HOUSE!

Working in Green Hills you have a limited selection of good food. Thankfully I stumbled upon this gem a few years ago. On the outside it may look okay, but once you step inside it feels like a 5 Star dining restaurant. The staff is always very friendly and food is amazing. I go to Tokyo for the Sushi. During lunch they have a Sushi Special which is 2/3 Rolls plus soup and Salad for $9/$11. This isnt your Kroger Sushi though, this is hand crafted by one of the best sushi chefs in the city. The other specialty rolls(not on the Lunch Special) are also really amazing. The fish is always fresh and rice cooked perfectly. Not once have I had a bad experience with the sushi. Then they have Hibachi Grills. I havent been to one yet, but I have ordered Hibachi off the menu. Steak is always tender and cooked to perfection. I"m always torn between Sushi and Hibachi when I go. Lunch Hibachi starts at I think $8 a plate up to $12 for the Seafood plates. Filet Mignon is only $11 and its amazing. Overall I love this place. The atmosphere mixed with amazing food makes it an amazing experience. If I didnt hate coming to Green Hills other than work Id come here for Dinner. Definitely a place to eat at at least once, you will fall in love!

Despite the overpriced, greasy pseudo-Japanese food served up by Chinese owners we have continued to dine at Tokyo Japanese Steak House in Green Hills because my two very well-behaved kids liked the Chefs show. BUT NO MORE! Diners, BEWARE of the unbelievably rude and unprofessional hostess/owner. She mistreats and barks at her staff in front of patrons. The past two times Ive been there, (once with a group of 16 and just tonight with a group of 8) they have rushed us through dinner, slapped down the check and as soon as weve paid, she has come over to our table and has asked us to move to the bar area because she supposedly has people waiting to dine. In both instances, we made reservations and had been at the restaurant no longer than 45 minutes. Very odd behavior considering when exiting the restaurant, there were open tables with no one waiting for a table. HORRIBLE!!

The WORST customer service EVER!!! They are so rude & unprofessional and they know it, but do not care because the owner is the same way. I dont recommend anyone going there. Once I threatened to take them to court they magically became super nice and offered to do anything I wanted them to so that I would not report them. They tried to get me to sign a receipt saying that I will not take legal action against them, but I didnt sign. I ordered something & the waiter said "Are you sure thats what you want bc your people usually cant afford that!" I am a black female, so I assumed that "your people" was referring to African Americans?! Totally cant believe that actually came out of her mouth! Just do yourself a favor and dont go to this place..

Horrible service! Ive never been TALKED AT as a patron by staff members OR a manager until I came to Tokyo. Took about 4 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our existence when we first walked through the door, and it was at 5 PM on a Sunday, not a peak time or day. The parking lot needs to be re-paved, the building itself looks beat up for being in a very nice part of town. I ordered shrimp and california rolls - the sushi had no taste, I was very dissapointed, however. The hibachi did taste good, Ill give them that. Overall, the staff was rude and I was treated very poorly. The sushi was bad, the hibachi was good. I live one mile away and I wont be coming back.

Today, there was a group of 4 and we ordered, ate and were sitting, talking and enjoying each others company when a lady comes and asks us if there is a problem. We replied no. She told us that we needed to leave because a company was coming to clean the hoods. Mind you there was 3 other patrons/tables in the restaurant and lots of other hood ranges that could be cleaned as opposed to the ONE at the hibachi table we were at! SHE WAS JUST PLAIN RUDE! Im giving one star because the food was good and the chefs are entertaining, but the lady left a bad taste in my mouth and my purse!!!! They get no more of my coins!

My girlfriend and i are traveling and staying at the hampton inn across the street. We saw this place when driving by and were hesitant to come in until we saw the online reviews. We decided to come in and wow is it a surprise. The ambience of the resturant is extremely relaxing, romantic, and the woman playing the piano makes rhe experience. She is playing various songs. The food is fanstic. They hit the steak, shrimp, and scallops perfectly. This is definitely a must visit if you are in town or travel. The servers are also very attentive and quick to answer amy requests.

I come to this place every now and then, most of the time alone, when Im on this side of town. Today I walk in like always, and ask to sit at the hibachi. The lady told me no. When I asked why not, she said they never sit one person at the hibachi. Again, I have been here MULTIPLE times by myself. When I told her this, she laughed at me. She actually laughed at me, while shaking her head. In a very condescending tone, she then said, "No, I dont think so." Are you serious? Its 730 and your restaurant is almost empty, youre really going to turn patrons away?
