I am truly baffled as to why so many people have given this restaurant such great reviews. While the staff was very friendly and helpful, the experience of cooking your own food was a waste of time. First of all, the grill area is not big enough to cook everyones food, so if you have more than 2 people in your party, some will have to wait while others eat.The grill was hot and I was literally sweating bullets while eating (not comfortable I can assure you). The quality of the food was cheap - pancake batter was sub-par, condiments were given to us in single serve packets (I mean seriously, who goes to a sit down breakfast restaurant and has to wait for additional ketchup packets to eat!), and the fruit "toppings" you can add to your pancakes were garbage. If you are going to charge nearly $1 for each topping it should be more than (literally) five pieces of frozen mango, or 8 frozen blueberries/blackberries. They also only have one type of pancake syrup and very little variety within their menu. To top everything off, after you cook your own food, eat separately from the rest of your party, and finish your crumby pancakes and hash-browns (which took 25 mins. to cook), you are still expected to tip your server the full amount. In my opinion if you want quality breakfast food stick with IHOP or Cracker Barrel.

Restaurant appropriates the sort of DIY approach of The Melting Pot fondue restaurant with a center-of-the-table griddle. At first glance, I imagined this might be like a breakfast Benihanas, with cooks providing entertainment with eggs and pancakes made in front of you instead of rice and steak. Nope. Youre cooking your own meal for yourself and paying to do so. This kind of works with The Melting Pot because its fondue and youre really just dunking meat or whatever you want into a pot for a while and you cant really screw it up. Its fun and novel at the Melting Pot because you dont usually make fondue or have the equipment or ingredients lying around your house. Here youre making omelettes or pancakes, ordinary stuff you probably can or do make on your own with little prep time. I dont really understand the appeal for most people. Pancake mix was decent, but not spectacular. I think parents or grandparents with younger kids might find it appealing, as it lets kids get involved in making their own meal and choosing toppings without any cleanup. Otherwise I cant imagine a time Id want to drive to a place to pay more to be handed marked-up ingredients to cook the same breakfast I would have made for myself anyways at home.

Its a unique experience to say the least. I normally never would have gone but not knowing what it was and getting asked to go I had to act like I knew it all along when I showed up. Do I find it odd that I have to cook my own food when going out to eat? Yes but thats a whole other topic. Everyone here is nice, theyre quick to make sure you have everything you need and show you how to do anything, drinks never run out, theyre never really crowded, and pancake batter refills are free. My only small complaint? I like french toast so I tend to order that, but its not free refills like the pancakes and the bread is very small. In comparison to normal store bought bread it would take 2.5 - 3 pieces of their bread to make one normal piece, and you only get six pieces. When you do the math that sounds like an okay amount but Id still like to be able to get some more without an extra charge like the pancakes. Nonetheless its a small complaint and if you like getting out of bed, getting dressed, and driving across town to cook breakfast this is an awesome place with awesome people.

I tried The Pfunky Griddle for the first time and I absolutely loved it! Really cool concept. Great service, really good food and really reasonable prices! If you order pancakes (all you can eat), French Toast, potatoes, eggs or grilled cheese, they bring you the ingredients and you cook it at your table. As a bonus you can order toppings for your eggs, potatoes and/or pancakes. Meats, sandwiches and soups are cooked in the back and brought to you if you are not in the mood for cooking. I was able to make an amazing omelette with spinach, cheese, onion, salsa and sour cream! You can also get toppings for your potatoes which looked amazing. There is a very extensive list for pancake toppings but I choose blueberries. They also have candies, fresh fruit and Nutella. Lastly our server Caleb was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. He helped us with suggestions and even gave us pointers on cooking the pancakes! I will definitely be back!

I have been here a few times now and I have to say they are the friendliest staff I have ever been served by. For those who dont know, yes you do have the option to COOK your own food, but if you decide not to there are many other items to chose from on the menu. Pfunky griddle is a great family or group event place and not only that they have gluten free and vegan options for pancakes and French toast. So no matter who is in your group they should have a option to suit your eating needs. I hate seeing bad reviews on such wonderful locally owned restaurant just because they didnt know they had to cook theyre own food or complain about the pricing. Everyone has the chose to look at the menu and the prices of each item before ordering. You come for the experience and the atmosphere of cooking with friends and family all without having them in your personal kitchen..... or my personal favorite not cleaning afterwards.

Yes, the idea of cooking your own food when going to a restaurant seems a bit peculiar, but this place is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth it! Even though there seems to be a bit of unnecessary drama going around do to an unruly customer. (Just remember that youre only getting the one side of the story from a spoiled, rude customer who didnt get what she wanted) Ive came here several times and have always been treated with respect by the wait staff and even the people who work in the kitchen. The servers are genuine and always welcome customers with a smile! They seem more than willing to answer questions and explain the menu. Food is always fresh, price is good, restaurant is clean. Ill continue to come here and introduce more people to this amazing place!

Although I was skeptical about the concept of make your own, I found it a rewarding experience. Every table had a griddle and the server brings you the ingredients already to pour on the grill- even the eggs! My server, Tiana, brought mirth and good cheer to the outing taking time to explain each step of the Process. I tried the 5 grain along with the white batter, but the 5 grain did not sit well with my pallet. They have a lovely list of toppings to help you customize your breakfast. I WOULD recommend the Pfunky Griddle, but if the pancakes dont torn out right or the eggs are over-done, you only have yourself to blame!

Gave it 1 star because I couldnt give it 0. The wait staff seemed unhygienic. OJ was horrid. The strawberry compote was grocery store pie filling. The batter was poor and they settled in our stomachs like rubber cement. Why pay to cook your own food? Great for hipsters and the trend setting uppity crowd. This food was so horrible, it made me yern for a Waffle House, no joke. I never complain about food because I worked in the industry for quite a while. But, this place is a joke! Save your money and either cook at home, or run down to cracker barrel, youll thank me later.
