Never again. The place was beautiful to look at on the inside and out. But the service was awful!!! We like sushi deep fried. We called in advance to make sure that this could be done and they said yes. We specified this to the server. He acted as if we dumb and went on to tell us that sushi is fried "nothing will be crawling around in your stomach" again we let him know that we knew the food was cooked in sushi that we wanted the entire thing fried and he ignored us. Brought out our appetizer and did not return again until the rolls were done. I wanted white sauce with the appetizer and i asked another server because ours was gone. She did not understand me and brought me back an empty bowl?? Then the server returns with our sushi rolls which of course are not fried. At that point we spent too much time there and really wanted to leave. The server INSISTED that it would be a 2 minute fix. He lied and said the rolls could be thrown into the frier as is. We knew better. The whole thing had to be remaid. 20 minutes later the new rolls come out and they werent even the ones we ordered. We paid for our app and left. Wouldnt waste your time or money on this place. Coligny has WAYY better restaurants. Go there.

We were in the mood for sushi Saturday night in Hilton Head. We found a sushi restaurant not far from the hotel we were staying at and decided to give it a try. If you are a sushi lover you know when I say that its always hit or miss when trying a new sushi place. We moved to South Carolina about a year and a half ago from Southern California where there are a plethora of great sushi restaurants only to find that sushi isnt one of SCs finer dining experiences. There might be great sushi places here in the state we just havent tried yet, but after the half dozen or so places we have tried, I have been really disappointed. Not so at Hinoki Japanese Restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this place, everything was fresh and well prepared, so much so that we ordered more after we had finished our initial order. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy a nice atmosphere and fresh great, tasting sushi. 5 completely satisfied stars!

A nice, quaint place on Hilton Head. Though the sushi is definitely designed with Americans in mind (think rolled), the specials and other house creations are worth exploring, and the chefs are more than willing to offer advice and accommodate any requests on or off the menu. The kitchen is open until 9 most nights, and the sushi bar until 10, with the latter being well worth the wait to sit at (first come, first serve!). Chef Chi Chi is a fun character that doesnt disappoint. My only nitpick was there was nothing really out of the ordinary for nigiri and sashimi fare, but an excellent experience nonetheless.

At first glance, its quaint BUT DONT BE FOOLED. It was not worth the time or money. We were seated quickly, but the sushi was VERY disappointing. The spicy seaweed salad was just sad. Nothing we ordered "spicy" was spicy. When we asked the server, she just brought us pepper sauce. Ive had way better food and paid way less money. It was a total waste of money and time spent with good friends. The best part about the experience was that they never let our water glasses get empty.

I have been taking my family there for years (20+). They are attentive to fresh food deliveries and have a good staff. Menu has lots of options and good entertainment at the sushi bar if you are inclined to watch it made. Love the "Hiro Roll" You can customize your sushi too... Masago & Avacado on a "Scallop Roll"... Suzuki & Chi-Chi are wonderful hosts.

Food is above average for sushi. People friendly. However, if you pay with credit or debit card, they will run two charges: one before the tip; one with the tip added in. The bill with tip gets paid first. The less amount without the tip will remain pending in your cc account for over a week tying up your cash, making that amount unavailable to you.

I have eaten here several times a year over the past 10 years, and this has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Hilton Head area. Great atmosphere. Great food. Good service; only reason I dont say great service is because I can be a real pain in the tuchus and kvetch about anything. Hinoki fully deserves the 5 stars I rate it.

Holy Cow has this place gone down hill from a year ago! Bar cannot get drinks right, sushi came without wasabi or ginger - had to ask for it; food was less than mediocre, adn when we went to order a meal to go for one of our children back home - they botched it. This was our last visit to Hinoki!

Such an awesome place!! The best sushi and extremely nice and accommodating. The sushi was so beautifully made. The people were so sweet, we are vegan and there was not so many vegan rolls on the menu but they let us make our own rolls. Would go here everyday if I could!

We arrived at 1:55pm and their lunch stopped serving on Wed. afternoon at 2pm. They let us sit down anyways as long as we ordered quickly. It was exactly what we wanted. Service was prompt and courteous, fish was fresh and fantastic. It was exactly what we wanted!

Well, the sushi was good. Service, a big negative. We seen our server 4 times during the whole meal. You can figure out when 3 of those visits were. Then charged 18% gratuity. Wow. Now i know why i didnt see her. She was going to get paid either way! Gee thanks!

Food was pretty good but the service was very very slow. Everyone at the table ran out of drinks multiple times because of the wait. Then the 18%tip was added in to the bill, I guess they knew that it would reflect on the device.

Good sushi. Not great. Rolls were meat only. No veggies. And rice fell apart.
