VERY disappointed with my experience tonight. This was not my first time visiting Kyoto, but sadly it will be my last due to horrible customer service. Although I have dined here many times, I make sure to inform the staff of my shellfish allergy each time before placing my order. They do recognize me from time to time, but I understand that they wont have my allergy memorized because they see so many faces each day. Tonight I had gone there for the hibachi dinner with a few friends and we got seated with a nice couple. I informed the chef of my allergy and he was very nice and understanding about it at first. As the steak, chicken, and shrimp were being served the chef placed some on my plate. One of my friends spoke up (before I even could get a chance) and reminded him that I couldnt eat that. The chefs response was along the lines of "Well you should have told me that. Its not my fault." Even the other couple spoke up in my defense, telling the chef that I was very clear on my allergy. The chef gave a very sarcastic apology and he and the servers tried using the noise from the crowd/grill as an excuse as to why there seemed to be a miscommunication. My meal was re-done and after the hassle I was STILL receiving excuses as an apology and had to also pay for my meal full price. I work at a food establishment as well and understand that mistakes do happen. However, when it comes to a customers allergy/dietary customs, such things need to be taken more seriously because they can cause medical complications sometimes. It saddens me that I cannot trust Kyoto to be considerate of a customers requests. I hope they learn to raise the bar on customer service

Sat at a regular table, not hibachi. Yakisoba was flavorful, but too salty. Hibachi shrimp- the shrimp was tasty but this dish was also too salty and the fried rice was unevenly cooked. Menu had sushi listed without any descriptions or notations for which ones were raw. We had questions about the menu, which our waitress answered with a thin coating of politeness over disdain. I dont know why we were the recipients of that expression when we asked if any of the dishes were cooked using alcohol. And then, over the span of the meal, the politeness disappeared. Maybe she was just having a bad day, maybe she just wanted to go home. I dont know, but it made the meal unpleasant. We didnt even want to ask for boxes because we didnt want to get snapped at again and make the experience worse.

WILL NEVER BE BACK Came here for dinner tonight with a friend. We were seated with 2 other black men she set out menus out together for us to sit by each other and I moved over because I wasnt with them and I am not going to sit in between two guys because they each sat with a chair between them. AFTER FIGHTING WITH THE WAITRESS AND MOVING THE MENUS SHE FINALLY LEFT.she got an attitude and actually say there and moved my menu from where I wanted to sit back to where she wanted me to sit. I go to the bathroom come back and she has sat someone in MY SEAT WHEN THERE WAS PLENTY OF SEATS. I did not tip and will not be back. This isnt the first time Ive had such bad service.

Weve been waiting for this place to open, and all I can say is WOW...my family is used to Beihana, and Kyoto is better in many ways...first, the chefs are AMAZING...funny and entertaining...Kenny used sake to start a visually pleasing fire on the grill, and then proceeded to squirt the sake into the mouths of me and my wife, and other people around the table. The food was good..very much cheaper than benihana, and still very satisfying. If you like Hibachi food, or if you are a first timer, this is a very wallet-friendly way to have a great dinner with first-class entertainment...if you are in the area, be sure to check it out.....

As a teppanyaki "hibachi" fan and living less than a block away I have been waiting for this place to open for over a year..... It was worth the wait. This place is priced in line with their local competition and the food is way better than most of their local competitors. The best show in the area by far. Never have we had as lively a chef (we were catching food and sake in our mouths, it doesnt get better than that). The wait staff was excellent. The food was fantastic. I will be eating here all the time in the future. If you like benihana you will love this place, cause lets face it, benihanas food sucks.

We really enjoy going for dinner on Christmas Eve! The chefs put on a great show, and cook the food well. The fried rice, shrimp, and beef filet hibachi are delicious. The included soup is good, as well as the shrimp tempura sushi. We did have to wait a while for our table, even with a reservation, but that may have been due to holiday busyness and/or people not wanting to leave their table right away before us. We went on another occasion, and had delicious sushi! California, shrimp tempura, salmon cucumber, and unagi rolls. Also, delicious miso soup.

Went in around 5:30pm, was instantly seated, instantly given a menu, and by the time I was ready to order they had my drink ready and served and had to wait no longer than 5 minutes for my food to be served. Food was delicious, serving size was a bit small, but service was great. Overall took about 30 minutes from the time I walked in the door to the time I left, even during rush hour traffic and dinner times. Would definitely recommend if you love sushi or just want a great Japanese dining atmosphere and experience!

Hands down my favorite hibachi place to go to. Oh the flavor of the food is just magical. You get alot of food as well. Fresh sushi at their sushi bar, they have a bar. Its a very entertaining experience and the chefs are interactive and fun. Great place for having a party, nice date night or lunch. The hours are different. They open for the day then close for a little while and reopen so make sure to call or check hours. They get busy really fast for hibachi so make a reservation!!!!

Speaking as a person whose picture appears on Kyotos wall three times, I can honestly vouch for the place. It is fantastic hibachi. The filet, chicken, salmon and scallops are all excellent. I recently "cheated" on Kyoto with a hibachi place that had a groupon, and I was reminded how truly excellent and fun Kyoto is. Also, check them out for lunch--for $8-11 for a good sized portion, its the best deal in town. [I like their sushi too, but much prefer hibachi].

Weve been to a couple different Japanese steakhouses, and this one is our favorite, as the service is always good, the food is always very good, and the chefs all have somewhat different performances. Some are better than others, but they keep it interesting. The decor is fairly upscale, and they have a good sushi menu as well. If you like sake, I definitely recommend you try their cucumber sake. The taste is so fresh its amazing.
