Ive heard nothing but great things about California Dreaming prior to my visit last night.. The atmosphere was nice, beautiful decor, as expected. The place was not overly crowded but there were a good bit of patrons there. The service on the other hand was despicable. Everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. When we arrived there was no silverware on the table, we asked for some and was politely told theyd bring it right out.. We then received the waters we ordered without straws.. We asked while placing our food orders for straws and the silverware as they hadnt been brought out.. Again, we were politely told they would bring them right out.. 15 minutes later my salad arrives and guess what? Still no silverware or straws. 5 minutes after asking for the third time we finally received the silverware and straws... By then I realized I also hadnt received the oil and vinegar I requested for my salad. To avoid the back and forth I ate the salad without it. Halfway through my salad the dressing finally arrived. While waiting for our entrees someone in my party noticed a huge insect crawling on the column near our table. I immediately notified an employee who took her time to notify the manager. (We were sitting near the kitchen and could hear and see everything) Once the manager was notified she seemed confused as to what she is supposed to do about the bug. She eventually came over to our table and asked what the issue was, we explained, she looked around, walked away and never returned to our table. We stayed on guard the entire night. After waiting for what seemed like an hour our server came over to ask if we were ok... I stated wed be fine if we had some food. 10 minutes later our food finally arrived. I had the ribeye, medium, it was cooked perfectly though it lacked flavor. I had spinach as my side dish, again no flavor. 2 people in my party had pasta which they enjoyed and the last had the knob hill chicken with spinach as well, again no flavor. Not once were we offered more to drink, which is completely unheard of these days. All in all, its a nice restaurant with terrible service and lackluster food unless you get the pasta.

Horrible experience that didnt have to go the way that it did. While traveling from Atlanta headed to Charlotte we saw the restaurant from the highway and decided to stop. We walked in (3 black men) and explained that we would like to sit at the bar. We were taken to the bar and given menus and told someone would be with us shortly. Shortly turned into 5 minutes. Finally as Im walking to the hostess stand 2 servers walk up. One says hello and I comment *oh there you are* and walk back to my seat. To my chagrin, the waitress walks over to another table that came on after us. Okay cool. Maybe she didnt know we were there first. So she comes over to us and says hello, what can I get you to drink? I ask what is on draft. Im then informed that in the city we are in that on Sundays they do not serve alcohol at that exit. (now... Why of why didnt the hostess share this information? We asked to sit at the bar so if the bar was closed why not mention that?). So.... We tell the waitress cool. 2 waters and 1 tea please. She walks away and you would think sense the waters were right in front of her that she would you know give us water after the long wait? Nope. She walks away and starts working on another bill. 4 minutes later she comes back. Pours our waters and then says *the tea is in the back as well as the lemons so Ill be back with those in a minute* and then walks away. At this point enough was enough. We all agree its time to leave and proceeded to do that. So food wise I cant tell you if its good or not. The menu looked to be priced high for the offerings. But service wise. The worst.

I went to dinner on Dec. 22, 2016 with two friends. One was celebrating her birthday. We had 7:30 reservations, and we were seated in about 5 minutes which was good. Our waitress noticed us at the table and took our drink order. After we ordered drinks, it took 35 minutes before we were asked for our food order. The restaurant was not overly crowded but she seemed to have a difficult time handling her tables. My friend asked for a cup of "hot" water and she was given a glass of ice water. Once the food arrived, the ribs were not good, my steak was tough and under seasoned. In an effort to make the birthday even joyous, the birthday girl ordered a slice of cheesecake. It look great, but one bite of the crust caused her to frown. The bottom layer of the cheesecake tasted freezer burnt! The waitress replaced it with key lime pie which my friend said was good. At that point we joked about how the only thing good about the entire meal was the croissants, salad, key lime pie and iced water. Im saddened because this was once one of the premiere restaurants in the area. I was very disappointed and probably could not at this point wholeheartedly recommend it to any of my friends or clients.

I had passed this restaurant several times and always wanted to try it becuase of how cool it looked from the outside... So one day my husband and I couldnt decide where to go for our date night and we were driving by it decided to try this place. As I walked in I was disappointed by the atmosphere and the decor was plain and tasteless. No decorations on the table or really anywhere in the place. I though well maybe their food is so good they dont need a fancy atmosphere. So we open the menu and the selection was again boring and other then the Filet nothing looked good to me. So we ordered and we chose the BBQ Chicken nachos and we each got a filet myself with the creamed spinach and my husband with he red skinned mashed potatoes. The Nachos were not bad but were very salty so I couldnt eat too many of them and then the main course came out. The mashed potatoes were not bad but everything else was really bad and honestly it was the worst filet I had ever eaten!!! Honestly I feel like it was a waste of 120$ go to Firebirds for better food in the same price range or spend just a little more and go to Larkins on the river your $$$ will be much better spent!!!

We tried to schedule a baby shower several weeks prior to the event. We were told they would reserve a space for us. We went in 4 days before the event to check on decorating and the girl at the front told us they didnt have a space reserved. The manager told us they could shove a couple of tables together in the dining area and if we could come in an hour earlier we could get the reserved "tower" space.since someone else had reserved it that afternoon There was no way our out of town guests could rearrange their schedules so I called back the next day to cancel and let them know how unhappy we were to have to scramble like this so close to time. A different manager told us they never reserved the space for less than 26 people and we only had 12. There is no way 26 people fit in "the tower"! All in all we feel like this was severely mishandled and that the restaurant staff simply did not care. I would not recommend planning any type of special occasion here - there is no telling what will end up happening to you!
