As I have mentioned before, in other dining reviews, Sunday brunch is my favorite time and meal of the week. Picking up the Sunday newspaper, sipping on some good wine, and dining on something that includes both breakfast and lunch creations is my ideal way to spend a few leisurely hours each week. To date, I have found two restaurants that provide nearly ideal environments for that activity. The Standard Restaurant, located in the River District of Fort Myers, is a top venue that combines a credible wine list and appropriately varied menu. They offer endless Mimosas for $15, made with sparkling wines that may change from week to week. They negotiate with one or more of their wine distributors, to find appropriate wines that are of moderate quality and/or reputation, and have enough personality to be enjoyed on their own, yet not have their flavor and character completely masked when paired with orange juice. This is in direct contrast to Prime de Leon, located just around the corner, that uses the cheapest sparkling wine available for their Mimosas – just one of many reasons to avoid patronizing that establishment. The Standards menu selections for brunch are varied and thoughtful, including several vegetarian and/or vegan options. Carnivore choices are evident in a variety of preparations, and include their house made sausage, which should be on your “must-try” list. One item that Id like to see added to the menu is Eggs Benedict, a personal favorite of mine, but that omission doesnt keep me from going back again, and again. The owner (chef) and his fiancee, the latter a highly skilled mixologist, are cordial and knowledgeable hosts who appear to have a genuine interest in making you feel at home in their restaurant. Even though they have a diverse wine selection, with many offerings by the glass, customers are permitted to bring in their own wine without being made to feel uncomfortable or disrespected when doing so. Their brunch business seems to be very robust, so reservations and/or patience may be required – Ive been fortunate to find a seat at the bar during each of my visits. And, Ill be back.

There are a lot of okay brunch places in the SWFL area, but this place is definitely one of the best Ive frequented. Id seen a lot of reviews pop up for The Standard on Yelp and decided that it would be the perfect place to take my mom for Mothers Day -- **Please note that the endless mimosas definitely played a big factor. I love me some bubbles.** The Standard is actually quite small, but it packs in a lot of charm. All of the staff were attentive and happy to help us. For food, my mother ordered the Southwest Omelette, my father ordered the Lox of Love sandwich, and I ordered the Warm Crab Dip. It took a while to get our food, but it was EXTREMELY busy that morning for Mothers Day. Thankfully, the mimosas were never-ending and overflowing! Once we received our food, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that everything was delicious! (And no, that wasnt the mimosas talking...) The portions were large, and the home fries were perfectly crispy. Thankfully my mother is okay with sharing...because my father didnt share any of his with me. Its been a long time since Ive ordered crab dip at a restaurant because typically it lacks enough crab for my taste. The Standard certainly didnt hold back on the amount of crab they put in the dip--it was awesome! I only wish I had more bread...I did end up taking the rest back home with me. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat! Im anxious to go back and try their Lunch and Dinner menus. **If you are making reservations, make sure you denote whether you want an inside or outside table!!! The person who took my reservation never asked me that, and we almost had to sit at an outside table.**

Literally the only two things that werent perfect tonight were that (unbeknownst to the chef) I like my pizza just this side of burnt - this pizza was cooked perfectly, and (because Im a grouch) it was too noisy inside. That nitpicking aside, I ate outside, and I got to try a lovely rustic pizza with a century old sausage (the recipe, not the actual sausage), which was excellent & not for the timid diner. The sauce was lively, a shame there was such a thin layer. Cheese was overly generous, and a distinctive blend. The pizza went very well with their sole Malbec. I finished off with a rich coffee that may have overshadowed the rest of the meal. Service was on point and quite accommodating. People with lives should bring their dates here.

I wanted to treat our guests to a trendy awesome experience as was advertised with this restaurant. Omg ,I could not have been more embarrassed. Dirty plates remained on the tables, no pour of water from the waiter, 1 or so hour waiting for our food and when we finally received it, it was either mush , too sweet, or just plan awlful. AND it was Monday a large party so you would think we would be priority. at one point I wanted to ask if we were forgotten. I will never ever recommend this restaurant too anyone.

Prices are expensive. We went there and we had to be asked three times how many in our party before we were seated. It was not busy. We then waited for 10 minutes and no one came to take our order. A couple who was seated after got their order taken and we were just sitting there waiting. We ended up leaving and going to Gwendolyns Cafe much better prices and service.

Good food. Casual/Upscale atmosphere - with the open dining room & the exterior walls being windows it can get quite noisy when busy at times hard to carry on a conversation with the person across from you. The menu has a great variety of American cuisine including vegetarian options! Wait staff was very friendly. Food is always great, although a bit pricey.

Thought I would try a new Resturant for lunch. Not very busy when I arrived, maybe 4 tables. Reviewed menu and placed order fairly quickly. However, after about 20-25 inquired about how much longer. Was told 2 more minutes. Then I was told order was never placed! No "were sorry"! Very low class! I wont be back.

My girlfriend and I came for brunch, she had the crab dip and I had the Western Omelette. Both were delicious! While we waited for the food my girlfriend enjoyed the bottomless mimosas while I enjoyed some aged bourbon recommended by the bartender. The food was served in about 15 minutes. We will be back.

We were downtown for the lonely music walk, and this place was packed and they handled it well! We got a table right away, and ordered pretty quickly. They were so busy that our server was actually the owner, and she did an outstanding job! We both got the veggie burger and it was excellent!

Very good food, very personable service. Im a big fan of anywhere the chef personally comes out to the table to see how everything is. Atmosphere is a bit lacking and some entrées (not at all) are overpriced for what the are. Overall pleasant dining experience.
