I visited Harvest last week with a few friends. It was my first time there, but they had all visited before, and had really liked it. I, however, was not impressed. It was immediately apparent that they ripped their menu off their competitor, Seasons 52, and are charging more while doing so. Our server was super friendly and was very informative about the restaurant and menu items. I had a Harvest Peach Bourbon, which was delicious, so no complaints there. I ordered a cheese plate (which was excellent) for an appetizer, but the server took away the plate when I still had fruit, honey, and raspberry dip left on it. For the price I paid for it, I felt I should have at least been able to finish everything. I wasnt all that impressed with the entree items on the menu; not very much variety, and the prices were very high for the portion sizes offered. I went with the special they were offering (Bronzino) and was disappointed when I received a 4 oz piece of fish on top of spaghetti. The meal was supposed to have clams and shrimp as well, which was a joke, because there were three 3/4" clams with barely any meat in them and 4 little sections of shrimp (probably one medium size shrimp cut up into 4 pieces) in the dish. The meal probably cost about $7 dollars tops to make, yet I paid $25 for it. Now, dont get me wrong, Im all for "fair trade" and "supporting local farms" and all that great stuff, but that doesnt mean you as a restaurant owner should commit highway robbery with your prices. Overall, I was not impressed, and really cannot understand why this place has such a large following. I went home starving and with hunger pains (and Im a tiny girl). Next time I want something "farm fresh" and "fair trade", Ill buy the ingredients from our local farm/orchard and cook it myself. That way Ill actually get my moneys worth. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If youre looking for something similar, check out Seasons 52. They may not use all local farm ingredients, but at least you get a decent portion size there. You couldnt convince me to visit here again.

Overall, a nice place, great atmosphere, but the food is mediocre. The decor is trendy/modern/rustic with lots of stone, glass and nice lighting. The wine list attempts to cover a wide range, and does so, but has little depth. There were 2 chardonnays, a couple of cabs, a couple of merlots, 1 sauvignon blanc, 1 sangiovese, etc. There were 1 or 2 wines from Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Germany, and several from California. I dont recall seeing any Washington or Oregon wines. I would have liked to see more choices from each country, and more in the more popular varietals. They have some nice options, if your goal is to taste several wines. You can order a 4 oz or 7 oz glass of wine, or you can chooses any 3 wines on the menu and get 2 oz of each for $10. As I said above, the food was average. We shared the encrusted goat cheese with raspberry jam. Nice texture, but the cheese was very bland and overpowered by the jam. We also had the tuna tartare with cucumber and wasabi. The tuna was bland, had virtually no flavor. The sliders (bison, tuna and veggie burger) were very disappointing, too much bread, and seemed dry. The veggie burger in particular was disappointing because it contained mostly beans which seemed undercooked (i.e. hard & crunchy). We also had the vegan artichoke ravioli, which was OK, but a bit acidic. Lastly we shared the "Eat with a Fork" Cheesesteak, which was tasty (but was one of the few items on the menu that was not under 500 calories - I guess thats why it tasted good). We did not have any entrees, but they were all reasonably priced. The most expensive was the halibut for $23. As for the service, Ive seen a lot of other reviews that it was sub-par, but our experience was good. In summary, Harvest Grill is a nice place for a drink, but we probably wont go back for dinner.

Harvest Seasonal Grill is at the north end of Glen Eagle Square, the same strip mall as Whole Foods, at US-202 and Springhill Drive. The parking lot does get rather packed at times, although we were able to park not too far from the restaurant on an afternoon during the holiday shopping season. This is an upscale restaurant, so entrees are priced between $15 and $30. However, they have a lot of healthy options, including a vegetarian section of the menu. The few entrees that are over 500 calories are indicated as such. We shared a cheese board, which included an interesting selection of cheeses and jams from local farms, plus crackers, flatbreads, and fruit. My entree was the spicy shrimp noodle bowl, which had a lot of flavor, although the portion size wasnt as big as I hoped. The $3 dessert cups are a nice idea too if youre looking for something thats not too heavy after the meal. Only nitpicks I have concerned the service. While our server was very charming and hospitable, I had to ask for silverware and plate twice. Also, she dropped things on the floor when cleaning up and spilled a lot of iced tea pouring a refill, so maybe be a bit more careful? Overall though, it was a splendid meal. Prices are steep though so I wont be back too often on my own, but Id recommend it at least once just to experience the locally-sourced food.

I really enjoyed Harvest. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is very modern and pleasant. I do however feel that the food is a tad overpriced for the portions. I am a very big fan of the under 550 calorie dishes and Im not complaining about the portion sizes, Im just a bit dissatisfied with the prices that come along with these portions. My friend and I went on a Saturday night around 5:30 and it was not crowded at all. We made reservations but were seated right away regardless. Our waitress was very nice and knew what she was talking about. The cheese plate that we ordered for our appetizer was delicious and very different from anything I had ever ordered before. I enjoyed it a lot. When our meals came, I ordered the salmon. Now, Im a big fan of Bonefish Grille, and I feel that they have the best salmon, so I think thats why I did not enjoy this meal as much as I would have. It was still good, but a bit dry and not as flavorful as salmon Ive had in the past. The smores dessert was delicious. The bill, between the both of us, came to around 70 dollars. I was a bit taken back by the price, but for a healthy meal option, Id probably go again.

My family and I recently dined at the University City location. The food was delicious. I am a connoisseur of salmon and have eaten countless preparations over the years. The grilled salmon at Harvest was one of the best I have ever eaten. It had a smooth buttery flavor but was not prepared with butter. I dont know how they did it, but the flavor and texture were delectable. The beet salad was also delicious. And as for the bar service, you would think that a Jack and pineapple would be as simple as that - Jack and pineapple - perhaps they used fresh pineapple juice but whatever they did made the flavor far better than any I have had before. The staff is very friendly, most accommodating and aimed to please. The service is fast. Everything about the experience was lovely. However, be prepared for small portions. This was the only disappointment...the food is so good that you will want more.
