La Bamba has always been my favorite restaurant. (See my pics from Urban Spoon!) La Bamba is a locally-owned Mid-West chain. Its somewhere between a street taco stand and a sit down Mexican restaurant. Dont go in expecting a ten page expanded menu of your favorite Tex Mex favorites. This is simple, authentic food and it never ceases to amaze me how they can take such readily available, normal ingredients and make them taste so special. They use high quality ingredients and have a very unique and delicious homemade hot sauce recipe that is out of this world and unlike any other Mexican restaurant I have ever found. The employees are always courteous and helpful. I have been going to La Bamba restaurants all over this state since I was a little kid. This is a real gem, folks!

4.2 stars review on this restaurant is a far reach. We were disappointed on how the service was, this seemingly friendly restaurant actually was the opposite of what I expected. Cook was rude while taking our order and seems like he doesnt want to be there. The food is Mediocre at best if not below average. Thought it was authentic Mexican restaurant, they dont even have carnitas. What the gel is ground pork? Is this Taco Bell? Chipotle has better meat selections than this fake Mexican restaurant. No Carnitas, lengua, cabeza lol fake Mexican restaurant for sure. Still surprised with the 4.2 star review which they dont deserve. Just go to Taco Bell or a taco truck, youll probably get better service and food.

This place is genuine and authentic! After falling victim to disgusting joints like Burrito King and Torticas, Ive finally found the real thing! Their food is amazingly delicious and well made. The tamales are phenomenal and taste just like the ones my buddys mom used to make except theyre a bit spicier, which is good! The torta are perfect every time and the burritos, Im gonna end up fat because of this place!

I went here yesterday 5/3/2017 and i ordered a burrito plus sour cream. I repeated my order TWICE and when i got my burrito it had NO SOUR CREAM on it. I took it back and the guy refused to replace it. He offered to put sour cream on it. I told him to remake it because by then it was cold. He would NOT remake my food nor would he refund me my money. I just feel this is poor customer service!!!!!!

Its probably largely nostalgia for bygone college late nights eating giant burritos, but bambas really has a special place in my heart and belly. I typically eat plant based for health reasons, but it is worth splurging for the combination pork and steak super burrito with a large horchata. Be sure to douse liberally in the medium salsa, which is also delicious.

The food is disgusting, service was great but the food was just thrown together, very sloppy. The tamale was super hard and crunchy. I would not ever eat here again nor recommend anyone. I think taco bell would have been better. If this is the type of food that can sell and its horrible, I should open a restaurant right next door and make a killing.

Best taco place around!!!....$1.00 ground beef tacos is the newest addition to the menu!....burritos bigger than most heads!!..Tortas wich is pretty much a taco put on a toasted sub roll..(AWESOME)..The horchatas drink is the best around here so far... everything here is great..its nothing fancy here..just awesome food which is what matters most..

Just left... worst attitude from one staff member (heavy set dude) said something in his language which warranted another co- worker to come from behind wall and look at me. I will never be back, I use to speak so highly this place but I will take my business to Panchero... #timeforchange

The food here is good when you are sober, and even better after a night of drinking. Be sure to get some horchata to drink with whatever burrito you get. My wife and I prefer the burritos cold the next day. The location is pretty shady, my wife doesnt like to go there alone at night.

I have liked this place since I was in college in the 90s. Unlike most things, this place is every bit as good as it was back in the day. Super fresh ingredients, great flavor. It is a bit more expensive than it was in the 90s, but what isnt?

They have the best burritos anywhere in Champaign County and and surroundings you cant find a burrito anywhere close to theirs my number one Mexican restaurant ! Ive tried many burritos and still find they are #1 ! In the best !

Been going to La Bamba for years. Last week very bad service. Hard cold tamale and I my combo burrito came w/only meat and onions. I called the number on the receipt and never got a response. I wont be going back again.

Probably my least favorite Mexican restaurant in Champaign so far. I had a pork taco, a steak taco, and a pork tamale. The food didnt have much flavor. And I dont understand why they dont have corn tortillas.

The quality of the food didnt match the already low price. The burrito is no longer as big as my head, and I know my head hasnt shrunk. The horchata tasted like water and sugar. I wont come back here again.

Awesome burritos but it is pretty expensive! Almost $12 for a burrito with avocado with a large drink! Good for occasions but too expensive for regular visits.
