My friend and I went to Jasmine’s last night to use my Groupon before it expires this Saturday. What a horrible experience! When we showed up we were told there was a 20-30 minute wait even though I had a reservation and there were quite a few empty tables on the bar side of the restaurant. The hostess said we could sit at an empty bar table. After 15 minutes of waiting without anyone approaching us, I went to the bar and asked if we had a server or did we need to order from the bar? The bartender said she was our server but was too busy to take care of us, then she sighed and said she be over as soon as possible. Another 15 minutes went by before she finally came out from behind the bar and went to the table next to us (which sat down a few minutes after us). She said she’d be right with them - what about us??? She proceeded to head to another table. After a few minutes, the other table gave up and left. When the bartender came back by, she hesitated at the now empty table then walked right by us – again!! What were we invisible?? A server finally came over and said he’d take our order but the food was going to take a long time since there was only one cook in the kitchen. I ordered a martini and he said they were out “the bar is really crowded, look at all the empty bottles”. What are they selling out of all their liquor? I didn’t realize I was in Dewey at The Starboard closing??? Now during all this time not one person working at Jasmine’s said “I’m sorry”, during all this time, the owner was not more than 10 feet away from us. I didn’t see him do much other than bring sushi to the bar once. He could have taken our order, he could have made our drinks. I would have thought he had a vested interest in the business. Needless to say, I will NEVER, EVER go back. If you want sushi, drive a little further into Wilmington to Mikimoto’s where you’ll get great food AND great service!!

I avoided this restaurant for years because I heard they werent that great. However, lacking in new places to review this Friday, I decided to give them a shot and try a lunch special. Jasmine Asian Cuisine is in a strip mall on the southbound side of Concord Pike. Access from northbound Concord Pike is easy by turning left at a traffic light intersection. Parking seems more than adequate at lunch time on a weekday, although I have no idea what would happen at peak shopping season. I have to say that in contrast to the second-hand impression I had of this restaurant, theyve greatly improved. The host and server were more than gracious and checked on me a fair number of times. The food wasnt bad either. I tried a pad thai with shrimp and the flavors were subtle, not overly peanut-laden the way they make it at some other Asian fusion restaurants. The salad I ordered as an add-on seemed fresh too. It was a tad heavy on the ginger dressing but I didnt mind. Better a bit too much than too little. And finally, the interior decor was restful and comfortable with wood tones and some cushioned seats, for those who need them.

TERRIBLE EVERYTHING DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! The worst place i have ever been to! Terrible service! the waitstaff are liars and extremely incompetent they told me no modifications on my sushi rolls as well as the entree my mother wanted... they have a sister store called Sakitumi in Rehoboth Beach, DE and i suggest going there because the service at the wilmington location is horrific. i am a server at a local steakhouse and would never treat or say the things they said to any of my guest. needless to say we spoke to the owner on the way out and recieved a $30 gift cert. to Sakitumi down the beach WHICH I LOVE! Kelly was our server and Tom well he claimed to be a manager but was serving tables (WHAT A JOKE) total waste of a friday night we payed for nothing and ate none of our meals! we ended up giving our groupon to a nice couple who was out celebrating his birthday! hopefully their food was better then ours.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! I took my husband here for his birthday, This was the fist time either of us went there. I must say the food was great however we watched the management treat the people next to us like crap. The party next to us had a simple request that they would not accommodate. The waitress did not want to help any of her tables. I watched the entire restaurant look uncomfortable as they tried to get her attention. When the table next to us wanted to speak to a manager it was nearly impossible. Finally he came out to speak to her but he wasnt much help. He actually told her the owner was there but he only spoke Chinese so he couldnt help her. How does a businessman in America not speak English?? Of course he does but he did not come out to help them. I am thankful that they gave us their Group-on b/c that is the only thing that made this experience worth while!!

VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!! According to the manager - TOM (who said he worked in the kitchen before) that they do not have anything thats vegetarian (except salad or sushi) despite having many "veg" items displayed on the menu. We have been there many times before & had customized our dishes to be vegetarian (like veg fried rice, veg chow fun etc.) When we tried to do it this time, the clueless waitress sought his help who brashly proclaimed Maybe all the previous waiters lied to you!!! All our sauces have either beef, fish or chicken stock or sauce in it." When we enquired why do you have so many "veg" items listed. He says "Do you want me to lie to you???" Needless to say, we felt cheated & insulted. And walked out..So 1. They openly admit to be LIARS 2. Manager is arrogant & waiters clueless. 3. "VEG" DOES NOT MEAN VEGETARIAN"......Enough said!!!

I laughed when I read another reviewers comments about the take-out rice container being half full. They always do that to us! We had lunch there the other day. When I asked the waiter if they could do vegetarian versions of their Bento box lunches, I was surprised when he simply said "no," turned, and walked away! No suggestions about other vegetarian options (though in truth there were a few on the lunch menu). In general, we find the Malaysian food at Rasa Sayang down the road to be much tastier and more fragrantly spiced than the Thai food at Jasmine. And Rasa Sayang is always happy to substitute tofu and veggies in meat dishes. Jasmines disappointed us over the past year or two and we hardly ever go there anymore.

My wife and I really enjoyed dinner at this place. I found the Japanese side of the menu to be excellent, but the thai side (green curry) to be only good, hence the food rating above. By excellent I mean the biggest chunk of tuna I have ever seen in a tuna avocado roll, yum! Also, the seaweed salad was perfectly seasoned. The coconut shrimp was far and the away the best we have had in recent memory. I think if you try this place you will like it. We will be back next time we are in the area.
