Let me say, I get that some places have a bad day now and again. This was my first experience here, so its what Im going to base my experience on. They get one star for the following reasons: - On the way to the bathroom overheard the cook say, "I wouldnt even eat food I cook" - A party of four seated after us (a party of two) was served and nearly finished with their meal before our food arrived. - Waiter told me that the reason it took so long is that the oven wasnt on and they needed to use it for the Baked Eggs in the Shirred Eggs I ordered. Said it took 30 minutes before it was ready to cook. I dont get this considering we ate on a Sunday and the only things they serve are breakfast on Sundays. - When the Shirred Eggs (Baked Eggs) got here they were barely not raw and we not very hot. It was like a raw egg and tomato soup. Even the hash browns were basically mash potatoes that were browned on both sides. Now, all that being said, the girlfriends Eggs Benedict I found to be very good. So in all, 1/4 of our food was worth the money. Im not going to be back.

Yeah, Im not impressed. After reading several reviews about "the best French Toast youll ever have" it was soggy egg bread that was under-cooked and then covered in WAY to much powered sugar. We went on a chilly January morning about 11AM and they werent too busy so we did get seated right away and the service was timely and polite. The Eggs Benedict was OK but nothing special. The kitchen was open to the dining area and the cook & staff were very loud with talking, shouting, laughing and clanking metal cooking implements. Also, smoke was filling the dining area when they started cooking/burning the bacon. Overall, not impressed in the least and I will not be going back or recommending this place to anyone.

After reading about how amazing the place was we decided to try it out. At 8 a.m. on weekday we were the only customers. I expected a selection of pastries, but they offered nothing but muffins. They said they have better selection on weekends. They do not serve espresso or latte but do offer French press coffee. They serve it by a whole vessel, which is about two and a half cups. The food was OK. Salmon Benedict was the highlight of the breakfast. Hash browns were basically shred potatoes, lumped and fried. They did not feel fluffy inside and they did not have any hint of a taste - no salt, no pepper, no butter or eggs. All it all, the place seemed underwhelming for what I expected, and a bit expensive.

My family and I love coming here. The food is spectacular. The French Toast is heavenly; light, airy, fluffy, a hint of lemon zest topped with powdered sugar, it doesnt even need maple syrup its so good. The Eggs Benedict is also fantastic, always a battle choosing between the two. The owners have always been friendly to us and remember us every time we visit, with spans up to a year. Eating out on the porch is a delight, though I recommend avoiding upstairs during hot days as they dont have AC, at least they didnt the last time we went. No matter what, Cafe Du Berry is among our stops every time we visit Portland, along with Powells. I cant rave enough about this place.

AMAZING food!!! Family run, super friendly, prices are totally fair for the quality of food. I hate scallops, my husband ordered the scallop omelette and insisted that I try it......I ate half his omelette!!!! I have never had a better omelette, not to mention the scallops were undoubtably fresh and cooked perfectly! I played it safe ordering my usual eggs, toast, and hash browns with fruit....even that was super yummy!!! From the looks of it, you would never guess they have such amazing food and friendly staff....but dont judge a book by its cover!!!!

Called them and made a reservation, weeks in advance, for Mothers Day brunch at 11:00 am. The place was in chaos, with the hostess handling food, diners and money without a handwash in sight (you can see right into the kitchen). The reservation system was completely imaginary. There was no list, no checking our name. A bunch of people got seated before us. Thirty minutes later we gave up and left. Luckily, we were able to salvage Mothers Day at a different restaurant.

3 starts is just about right for this plan. The food is good but not great. The service is slow but friendly. The prices are about $2-$3 more then they should be. Was easy to get a table on the weekend. The outside setting looks very nice but a very busy street is just on the other side of a fence. I wanted to like this place but dont think I will be going back. Parking can be tricky, so unless you can walk to this place I would say you can do much better in Portland.

Reading other reviews, I think that most people who were looking for the greasy spoon cafe breakfast were disappointed, but for those looking for more (myself included) found Cafe DuBerry to be an excellent experience. The servers attitude was indicative of pride in their food and, as promised, the french toast and steak & eggs delivered. For those complaining about the cost - if you want cheap, Im sure theres a McDonalds nearby that you can regret the rest of the day.

The service was terribly slow and quite rude. The food was excellent but very nearly not worth the wait. Visa machine was down but we were not told until we were finished with our meal. The guests that were being treated to breakfast had to pay as they were the only people in our party that had checks and cash. Bad Bad Bad It was also FREEZING in the restaurant - had to leave our coats and scarves on during the meal

The food was very good, but not for the prices being asked. Their website is also inaccurate, as it shows most items as 2 - 6 dollars less than they actually are in the store! It was also extremely hot inside the restaurant - break a sweat hot. So if you want to eat some good food with good service in a sweat lodge and pay too much for it, this is your place! So many mixed feelings...

My rating is based on only one visit, but WOW, what a meal! Brunch at Cafe Du Berry was to die for! HIGHLY recommend the French toast. Everything looked and tasted homemade. Good-sized portions, flavourful food, attentive service, and a welcoming family feeling. Hard to ask for anything more than that!!

Favorite breakfast place! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and tasty food! I always get their waffle, French toast, steak and eggs, or Spanish omelet!! Their coffee is amazing and mimosas always end my night shifts perfectly! Ive been going here for over a year now :)

The French Toast was soggy and undercooked. Came with hash browns and grapes...the hashbrowns were definitely packaged potatoes, not fresh. It was expensive for the quality. Its cute and friendly, but I wouldnt recommend to anyone for breakfast.

Fantastic food! I had the veggie frata with ham and cheese. I could eat it every day. Also, the hot chocolate is some of the best Ive ever had, but be warned its VERY rich and sweet (and I swear there is toasted coconut in it). Loved it!
