Tucked away in a corner of Tarzana, Le Sanglier was well work the 25 miles and 1 hour and 15 minutes it took me to get there. In full disclosure, I went with a Living Social deal which entitled me to a pre-fixed menu for two. Although we arrived, 15 minutes late to our reservation, we were seated right away. Well, we would be anyway as there were absolutely no patrons in the restaurant. I presented my deal right away, so as to avoid any confusion later on, and in return, we were given the pre-fix menu - each course (there were four) with at least two choices - with the exception of desert, this was chefs choice. I ended up with the following: -Dinner Salad -Beet and Bean with Goat Cheese Appetizer -Pork Tenderloin -Apple Tart (this was the chefs choice) All of my dishes were well executed, plated beautifully and served at the right temperature. My favorite dish had to be the Beet and Bean with Goat Cheese Appetizer. The combination of flavors was phenomenal - nothing like Ive ever had before. From start to finish, I had a great dining experience. Service was flawless. Because no other parties showed up (except towards the desert course) it almost felt like a private dining experience - and I have no problem with that.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. Ive been going there for forty-five years, and a lot has changed, but the frog legs tonight were as splendid as I remember them, and the wild boar chops au poivrade were superb... I miss some of the old favorites, like artichaux florettes with bay shrimp, marinated boar steak, the old prix-fixe menu with specials, etc. The grand marnier souffle was a little bit soupy (not very -- mostly delightful). I would say that the service isnt quite what Im used to. It took a long time to get the check and the waiters were a little hesitant to pour water, but the place was charming and mostly the service was quite good. There is a new owner for the last six months, and he doesnt have a full liquor license for drinks or liquers, apparently, or else they just dont stock them. However, he was very congenial... The last two or three times I tried to get in there, Gil (former owner) wouldnt make room for me, even though there were clearly places, simply because I didnt have a reservation. The pommes de terre dauphin were not on the menu, either, and I remember those being delightful and de rigeur in the old days. Things do change, but a lot of the old-time excellence remains.

I ate here on Jan 7, 2012 the fist time. My boyfriend ate here 20 yrs ago. I was in the mood for duck. We arrived around 9:20pm. Restaurant was nice, parking was quite challenge. The duck was OK. Nothing spectacular. The fish, either sea bass or halibut which I dont recall, was not really good at all. For the price, it should have been an exceptional dinner but it was not. The service was ok. I was quite disappointed. I ate at a few French restaurants. Unfortunately, this has to be one of the worst one. We did not order dessert because we were disappointed with our dinner. May be we should have returned the fish. The fish was either overcook or was not fresh. I felt bad for dragging my boyfriend to this restaurant. We did have wine and it was ok. We probably will not come back again.

I am appalled at how my husband and I were treated here. We got a Groupon so we could enjoy a fancy romantic dinner. The main host (older french man who I am assuming is the manager or owner) was rude to us from the beginning (waiters were great). The food was decent, but we would not have paid full price without a Groupon. We were the last ones in the restaurant and were looking up directions to our next location when the older man came and said, "Were leaving. You can finish that at home." (This was about 25 minutes before the restaurant was posted to close.) If it had not been for his sour attitude towards us, we would have enjoyed our time a lot better.

The owner was rude and arrogant. He acted like he was doing us a favor by allowing us to dine there. I would rather eat at a homeless shelter before going back to this place. The food is way overpriced, and simply ordinary....at best best. There are many other French restaurants in the area that are better in all regards. I wont ask for any more favors from the owner....I would rather eat at McDonalds..... same quality and better prices!!!! Yuck!!!!!!

The total cost $170 for 3 apps, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, 1 glass of wine and 2 cups of coffee/tea. I was disappointed in the quality and freshness of the foie gras (and the accompanying pickled endive and sauce) was poor, the side dishes to the entrees were not good at all, and the wine list was inadequate. The dover sole and halibut were very good, however, as was the French onion soup and the souffle dessert. I much more prefer Brandywine.

My wife and I were looking for a French Restaurant recently and found this gem. The food was absolutely divine! There isnt a single bad thing I could say about anything we ordered. The Owner is extremely friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate. There is parking in the back as well which is a huge plus.

Nasty food. Sooooo salty it could blind you . The chef obviously lacks a sense of taste. The water tasted like chlorine. so gross. For a fancy restaurant it smelled real bad. Disgusting dessert. The only thing good was the nice waiters. I give this place a minus minus overpriced garbage rating.

The food is mediocre, but the prices are way overpriced. I did not know that it was so expensive, otherwise I would not have my last business meeting there. One thing was good is the silence, we could hear all our presentations.

Escargot was delicious, duck confit and cod were fantastic, and the vanilla meringue in the"Floating Island" dessert special was perfection. Ambiance, food, and service quality = highly recommended for dinner for two.

Ive had both good and disappointing meals here. For the price it should always be good. Duck can be chewy. Soufflés burned on the outside yet uncooked in the middle. OTOH the steaks are usually good.
