Instead of the $32 wine we ordered and enjoyed, a $63 wine showed up on our bill. Either the waiter was careless, or we were being played. Either way, check your bill when eating at this otherwise enjoyable French-style brasserie. On the positive side, the food was great! I had a classic French-brasserie-style steak frites au poivre, and my wife had the duck. The wine in question was relatively inexpensive ($32) but was quite enjoyable. The night was warm, and we sat outside and chatted with two young ladies at the next table. So all in all, apart from the hassle of having to explain to the cute young French waiter from Toulouse that his math was questionable, the experience was positive. Do check your bill though!

Bought the Groupon deal ($39) 3-course dinner for two. Belden Place is a very cute street, it makes you feel like youre on the backdrop of a Broadway show. We ordered the french onion soup, mussels, boeuf bourguignon, and the triple choco cake and rasberry mousse cake. The french onion soup was under-seasoned -- generally they tend to be very salty, but this one was towards the bland end. The mussels and fries were standard My favorite was the boeuf bouguignon -- the broth was tasty, and beef super tender. Dessert was average. Service - excellent - 4 stars Overall, cute area to take tourists if you have friends in town.

Love the French Cuisine: Couple of years ago I enjoyed prawns prepared in anis flavored sauce. The dish was exceptionally tasty and that experience brought me back to the same place. Unluckily, that dish was no more served, however, I was recommended to try seabass prepared in lemon sauce. It was equally delicious. The warm crispy french bread is my another favorite at this place. Staff is courteous and love to share some tips about each item on the menue. I am happy at exceptional service and best food at this place.

Groupon and this place have a great scheme going on. Groupon is for 49$ but you end up paying 25 more (in taxes + mandatory 18% gratuity -read fine print- plus some mandatory SF thingy). So, essentially this is not a deal at all coz final bill is anyways gonna be 76$. Very nasty move - Groupon+Cafe Bastille. NOTE: Free passive smoking services available. People smoke all the time within 5 feet of the place and by the end of the meal you have passively smoked cigarettes for an entire fortnight.

Tucked into one of the hidden French alleys on the edge of Chinatown, Bastille is a cozy spot with two intimate floors of Parisian cafe style dining and an outdoor patio to grab brunch and a cappuccino or a late evening drink with bistro fare. Lively, friendly staff and vintage signage of French goods make it nice escape to catch up over a day of touring SF or a buzzy spot to reflect on your day over cocktails.

My favorite! I make a point of going every time I’m in San Fran. This time around I went for a late lunch and sat inside so I could take a conference call for work. The wait staff was so patient with me and even reheated my crepe after the call went long. The service is impeccable, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is uniquely refreshing. Go! You won’t regret it :)

This is a classic gem if you want excellent bistro food in San Francisco. The service is charming and fabulous ... and the food makes me remember why I want to eat there more often! If you love onion soup, pate, a drinkable red and delightful cafe music, do yourself a favor and pop in here. Outdoor seating when the temperatures accommodating is a plus too. Enjoy!

The service is a joke! Took over an hour to get some drinks and french fries! And THEN another 16min and 37 seconds to just get ketchup after our request when the fries shower up! Yes we tinned it. How is that even possible?! The music was the only saving grace (since it sounds like one of my slow jam ambient Pandora stations) but wow, this was ridiculous.

Good place to savor French cuisine. Not the real thing, but the closest one can come in the area, including the outside sitting. You can taste a fixed dinner sampler, or you can order whatever you like from the menu. Free street parking after 6:00 can be found on side streets, while everyone else is trying to leave the city to go home.

Its like being back in France with the attitude and those looks. We order the boudin noir and the steak tartare; both delicious. We loved the decor and the service was quite... French. A must come if you like French food and would love to speak some French with the waiter.

Loved the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Ordered off the SF Restaurant week menu and was extremely happy with the dishes. Everything was well cooked, beautifully presented, and was absolutely delicious.

Everything was excellent! One testament of any restaurants service is whether they replace cutlery or slide it from your saucy plate to the table, and theyre in the former camp :). The omelette parisienne was one of the best brunch dishes Ive had!

Such an amazing experience. Took my favorite culture and favorite food to a new level. It is cozy and everyone is friendly. The food is so so so so great, and the cappuccino is next level as well. I give it a 6/5. Spectacular. So happy.

Cafe Bastille brought me back to Paris and I loved every moment. The food, the French couple that ate next to us, the French accent of our waiter, and the energy all brought me back. I recommend it.

Cozy little cafe with authentic French bites and outdoor seating. We shared several dishes, but loved the steak frites, moules, and tartare. There is also a prix fixe menu for the indecisive.

Entrées were delicious. The only dissapointment was the escargot which was shelled, overlooked, and lacking enough garlic in the sauce. Overall quaint spot reminiscent of being in Paris.

Found this place accidentally when walked in SF when it was raining. Food was good, service was OK. It is not very big inside and quite cozy.

Great Paris neighborhood bistro / brasserie feel. We spoke French with our waiter and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.

Food was quite good and the waiters super kind. It was almost empty on a Sunday (but it was the pride so may be that was the reason)
