While driving through Astoria my husband and I decided to try out the Rogue Ales Public House on the pier. However, after we walked in, we were ignored for at least ten minutes even though there were three waitresses standing around. When our waitress, who seemed to be having an extremely bad day, took our order, it took her another ten minutes just to remember that my husband had ordered a soda. To make matters worse, she kept walking by, pointing at him saying "I remember! Im getting it!" as if he had been nagging her about ir or something, and then continued to forget to bring it out. We had ordered a simple humus platter to share and it took over half an hour to get our food. On the way to our table the waitress accidentally broke a plate and two glasses, making her day worse I suppose. Even when we asked for an extra pita to finish off the humus, the wait was nearly twenty minutes, but we couldnt leave because we hadnt paid. Twenty minutes, just to grab a pita from a bag and slap it on a plate? When I asked where a bathroom was since wed been there so long, I was told "there isnt one" and had to wander around the pier trying to find one. Afterwards we waited for what seemed like an eternity for the check. So long, in fact, that I went out to the car to get my camera and try to photograph some of the seals nearby. It was ages before my husband finally came out, and told me that when she finally took the check, she never brought us our change; we had to flag her down while she was cleaning up broken glass. There were only two other tables occupied at the time, one with a couple and the other by a group of men drinking only. I dont see how three tables could be too much for the staff to handle. My husband never got a refill on his soda, by the way.

We stopped in here while on vacation. When we arrived, we walked through the entire restaurant, and found a sign saying to seat ourselves. We chose to sit out on the patio. After about 5 minutes of no help, my fiancé went in to get some menus. He asked a waitress for menus and brought them back out. We then sat for another 5 minutes with no help and decided the breeze was too cold, so we moved inside. Once inside, tables around us were helped, and it took a while for us to get help. We finally ordered waters, food, and a drink. My fiance wanted the Reuben, checking with the waiter that it would be grilled bread, not toasted so it wouldnt tear up the roof of his mouth. He was assured it was grilled. A different waiter brought it out, and it was toasted. He pointed this out, and asked if just the sandwich could be re-made, grilled. Explaining he had checked on this to start with. The guy said sure, then ten minutes later brought back two pieces of (semi-burnt) toast and asked if that would work. My fiancé was put off and suggested sure, Ill just scrape off this cheese and make my own sandwich. We were ready to walk off at this point, the waiter asked if we "gave up", we told him this was unacceptable, and he said "ok". So he said we were good and we left. I have NEVER seen this level of poor service (or total lack of respect) before. We will NOT be returning to this location again.

Sounds like we had another one of the "bad" experiences here. Our son recommended the place as he had been there previously and got good service and food. This time, unfortunately, was not even close to that. We waited over an hour for our food and then my kale salad was full of yellow and brown (and rotting) kale. Since we waited so long for our food and were planning a family day at the coast I elected not to have it replaced. We also never got our appetizers so I went without food (glad I brought snacks with me). The first waiter was inattentive though the second one (who picked us up after the first waiter had to "attend a mandatory meeting") was nice but didnt seem to really are that we had had a bad experience. She told us that when we returned she would be sure to wait on us. After I told her that I would not be returning, she turned abruptly and said "good to know"! BTW, we have eaten at the Rogue House at the Portland airport several times and always got good service and food. Not sure what happened with the one in Astoria...

Currently on my honeymoon, driving around Oregon from California. I came in close to closing and was greeted by a waitress who was warm and welcoming as if she just came in rather then finishing up her night. She offered me and my husband samples and gave us recommendations on beers and engaged us like old friends. She found out we had just gotten married and contacted her manager who came over and spoke to us with warmth and we were treated like royalty. The manager notified the entire place of our status and were congratulated with hand shakes and hugs by people who had just gotten off of work on a Tuesday but never let it show. The food was phenomenal and delicious, one of the best dining out experiences of my life for a girl who grew up with the vast culinary environment of the Los Angeles areas. I will always remember Rogue Ales Public House Astoria and the amazing experience I had there.

My wife and I both had an awesome time here. This place sits on what used to be the old bumble bee cannery, so it gives it a very old rustic kind of feel. We had arrived about a half hour before sunset so we were able to sit and enjoy it while basking in the warm ocean breeze. Despite what I had read about the food we both really enjoyed it. I consider myself a huge "french dip" conisour, and was very impressed with there version of it called the "Rogue dip". They also offer 30 different Rogue beers on tap, many of which are not available at stores. At our table was a large book which had very detailed information about every beer they offer, as well as the history of Rogue and everything they offer. Between the excellent beer and the good food, we both left feeling very full and satisfied. Coming here was definitely an experience and I cant wait to go back.

Ive worked for years in F&B and this is some of the worst service Ive experienced. Ive never written a review before but I felt compelled to write this review as I would never treat my guests this way. The food took over an hour even with open tables. The food was well executed, albeit slightly overpriced, pub food. Either the kitchen needs another fryer, a host is needed, or greater FOH managment presence is needed on the floor because it was not busy and pur food took sooooo long. Gregory, our server, was sarcastic and made no apology for the length of our wait to be served, he made no presence at our table for literally 45 minutes, and did not even send management over for an explanation. He was not the only server on the floor, I think our experience was unnecessary and to be honest embarrassing to the establishment.
