Coming from a small town myself I look the atmosphere of small town bars and taverns. The closeness of the people and casual pool playing, pull tabs and strong drinks are what make small town bars the more fun places to go. However, thats not here. When I came here on 2/18/17 over Presidents Day weekend they were slammed, which I thought was great. The first bartender (dark hair/shorter) was amazing, instant service, good pour, attentive and friendly. Which made sense why everyone was going to her. Shes the reason why Im adding the second star. The other bartender however (tall blonde) told me she couldnt take my order (shot of tequila and a beer, a bloody mary and some fish and chips) because it would take too long and there were other people who needed drinks. Does my money not matter? I was next in line. I waited my turn like everyone else. Her attitude and lack of wanting to deal with an unfamiliar face isnt what makes small town bars fun places to go to. I know my dollar doesnt make or break a small town bar when its not "my" small town bar, but I wont be coming back when I come to Long Beach.

We came to Long Beach for a couple nights stay, we asked some locals for advice on good food/drinks. After hearing a couple folks recommending the Long Beach Tavern we decided to give it a shot. Being a Friday night at 6:00 we were lucky to get a booth given it was starting to fill up quickly. Heard they had a great seafood pizza we ordered that and a couple side salads even though it wasnt on the menu. The waitress happily made the salads anyway. The pizza arrived loaded with fresh seafood (shrimp, Dungeness crab, green onion and artichoke) with an alfredo sauce. It was INCREDIBLE, and only 21.00 for the medium the two of us could only eat 1/2 even though we hadnt eaten in over 6hrs!! We were sad to realize we had just missed happy hour but even so we each had 3 generous pour wells and with salads and the seafood pizza our bill was a mere 38.00, WOW. Now we know why its a hit with locals, great food, drinks, service and value!

If I were to create my perfect dive bar it would be the LBT! This is another go to stop in Long Beach. Its got wood paneling, a roaring fire, black pleather booths, pool, TVs, pub grub, pull tabs, stiff drinks and cheap beer! I go down to Long Beach with a big group of friends at least once a year. We always make a point to include at least one stop at LBT. It was Daytona 500 Sunday this trip. Im not really a racing fan myself but when in Long Beach do as the Long Beachers do! Everyone was friendly and having a good time. In the time I was there I got 4 beers, a shot of Jack and a basket of clams & fries for only $24! How can you beat that?!? After the race we found out it was free pool on Sundays. Seriously, theres nothing not to love about this place, even the ol salty sea dogs that hang out in here.

We went to LBT to play pull tabs and get drinks. We sat at the bar. There were at least 5 servers coming in and out from behind the counter. We waited for someone to take our order. And waited. And waited. We decided to put $60 cash on the counter hoping that would entice someone to stop. Nope. Didnt work. People would come up next to us and get served, but they would pass right by us. No eye contact, no well be back in a minute. It was ridiculous. The next time they helped a person that came up right next to us without even looking our way, we left disgusted. We stayed about 20 minutes. .

Blond bartender beware!! Awful food but thats not the worst of it. Food took forever but when we finally got it it was cold! Waited 15 mins to get a drink order in, rude service bartender was much more concerned with her phone and talking to her friends. waited for the bathroom stall for 10 mins with sound effects to watch the blond bartender come out and go back to work without washing her hands. Then it took me standing at the bar for another 10 mins to pay after she told me her other orders needed to be taken care of first before I could be paid. Worst service ever!

Went in Long Beach Tavern with some friends while on a weekend vacation for Valentines day. Service was slow, and as others have mentioned the older woman at the bar is not too bright. She cut off our whole group on our third drink because she claimed she saw one of us stumble. I realize caution is sometimes necessary, but in my opinion this was absurd. We were on foot and wanted to play some pool and have a little fun. I guess they dont need our business. I will not step foot in this place again.

The only real bar in the entire town yet a welcome that makes you feel they dont care if you ever come back. Really worked hard to get some feel of a pulse... anything... at all... but nada. Decent pizza but the environment more than offset any possible benefit to being here. Just cold... really cold. And kinda rude. Had to leave and go across the street to the only other quasi-bar / restaurant... where they were wonderful. Better bar, better food, better people... just across the street.

We stopped in for what we thought would be a casual and quick bite to eat. Unfortunately, we received terrible service. We ordered a pizza and it took over an hour to get that pizza. Apparently our pizza was given to someone else. We ended up getting the food to go. The table next to us waited 1.5 hours for their pizza and eventually left empty handed. The pizza was very good but the service did not make it worth it. If we ever go back well call in our pizza to go.

We were in Long Beach looking for a dive bar to have some beer and lunch at. We wandered into the Long Beach Tavern, it was perfectly divey and had a somewhat typical bar menu and atmosphere. We overheard the waitress recommending the daily special fish and chips to the couple next to us and thought wed order some too. It was without question, the best basket of fish and chips I have ever eaten. My mouth is watering thinking about them.

The food was very good and the help were wonderful to me. I was supposed to meet a friend down there and did isnt meet up, partly because my phone died. The bartender called every motel to see if there was a room. It was the kite festival so there were no rooms. The barmaid let me have her phone for hours to msg my friend and make calls. They were very kind and caring. Thanks so much from a weary traveler!!

Terrible service....older lady is not very bright. Took girlfriend in for her 21st birthday. Mainly looking for some food, after 20 minutes she came over asked for id, then made a big deal that it was her birthday and she couldnt be in the bar. Says age 21 on date which was that day, she evidently cant read, unfortunately theyre the only place open in town. Terrible experience beware!!!
