Ive been to all the best delis in NYC, Miami, LA, and even Ann Arbor and Columbus OH. I wasnt necessarily moved by Kochs. Granted, I had a standard Corned Beef/Pastrami on rye with mustard, but Im of the opinion if you arent great on the basics, everything else is just window dressing. Also like to add, the guy making the sandwiches, Ezra, was WITHOUT QUESTION the MOST ANNOYING person Ive ever encountered. It took him, no joke, 30 minutes to make two sandwiches of the people in front of me. He spent 20 minutes with a woman, cracking jokes, making inappropriate comments, giving her and her kid samples. It was absurd. Thankfully, the other fellow made my sandwich in 30 seconds, and I got out of there. But the place was empty and I was there for 35 minutes. Brutal. I wouldnt go back simply because of the service.

I rented the apartment above Kochs Deli, by Rommy and his partner (not sure how to spell their names) but wasnt told that is was thoroughly infested with bed bugs. After a couple weeks we ended up having to throw all of our furniture out. Though they seemed like nice guys, they refused to give us any of our rent back and threatened us legally since we moved out without telling them. This doesnt have much to do with the food, except that the building is infested with bed bugs. We had an exterminator come, but he said there is little to do short of tearing it down. Personal feelings aside, Id think twice before eating there.

While waiting for our order, we were barraged with hospitality, humor, and free samples of whatever our host was making at the moment. We stopped at Kochs on a road trip around the country and are considering making a single trip all the way from Texas simply to visit this wonderful deli. Their Reuben sandwich is one of the most delicious and beautifully crafted sandwiches I think Ill ever eat. Kochs Deli is by far the best deli experience I have ever had. If youre ever in or reasonably near Philly, you must make a stop at Kochs Deli.

The gentlemen staffed there are funny, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The engage the customer with the history of he shop and let you sample the generous portions they add to your sandwich. This place has been around for decades and is a staple in ucity community. Writing this. Is making me hungry for their Italian style hoagie.

The place was empty but that could because it was a Monday afternoon. The sandwich and meat i ordered were fresh and delicious, but the visual display is disconcerting. The slicer in the front was filthy. Meat had dried up on it. Its messy behind the counter and they could use a lick of paint. A pity because I really enjoyed my food.

Great deli in University City. Everything Ive ever gotten from here is good including ruben, cheesesteaks and roast beef sandwiches. Only downside is the place is really really small and gets crowded with only a few people in there. Sandwiches also take awhile to be made but they are worth it, trust me. Highly Recommended.

Waited over 2 hours for food when it arrived it was cold and missing part of the order. When called about the issue they were rude and argumentative as if I were somehow at fault. I couldnt tell you if the food is good when it comes right to you, but do yourself a favor order from somewhere else

Their Jewish hoagie remains the best cold cut sandwich i have had. when i drive through philly, i stop here and pick a sandwich up. The price is a little much, and I wish it was like $7 or something, but its still so very tasty. Get it with or without peppers, its good both ways.

This deli goes across generations in my family. My mom says "I used to go in as a kid, and they just hand you cuts to try right off the slicer". Dont you know 30 years later I go in & theyre doing the same thing! Food is incredible, highly recommend!

This is an historical place in West Philly. The sandwiches are the best youll find anywhere. Be prepared for a wait and some fantastic humor though. While standing in line, you get samples of what everyone else is ordering. You must try Kochs Deli.

Best cold cuts in ucity. Sandwiches are pricey but you get a ton of food. Plan ahead! They are very busy and do a great job so it can take a bit longer than subway...

Very good sandwiches, very friendly atmosphere, just make sure you have a bit of time to kill as it can take a while for them to just take your order.
