If you want to be ignored as soon as walk in the door and then again when you walk to the service counter, for several minutes at a time, then I have a horrible place for you to try. As soon as we entered the door, three employees were playing kung-fu behind the counter. They did not stop even we had walked up to the counter. One employee did walk out of the kitchen and he did greet us with the usual "Welcome to Firehouse." The other 3 guys continued to pretend fight each other behind the counter and when they sort of stopped they gathered around an Ipad looking and talking about God only knows what. I can definitely tell you that I was not work related. My wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. The guys behind the counter really just kinda ignored us for the first 2-3 minutes. Finally one of them decided to take our order. He very hastily rushed thru taking my wifes order. He barely let her say what sandwich and soup she wanted. After each item she said he quickly said very bluntly, "Is that it?" Then it came my turn. OMFG, I think he might have been high. I have never had to repeat myself over and over as many times as I did there today. Within 1 minute I was asked if I wanted the combo 4 times. He could stop talking to his work buddy to pay attention to the customers that were in front of him. Some of the other reviews mentioned that they did not get their pickle which I was pretty sure came with the meal, whether or not you got the combo. Let me tell you, I was not very happy to discover that neither my wife or I received our pickles when we returned home. Also dont get the soup here. We came around lunchtime so youd think that the soup would be fresh-ish. It was lukewarm and what added insult to injury was that when the 2 other kung-fu fighters behind the counter who were "making" the sandwiches placed the soup in the bag upside down on the lid and on top of our sandwiches. Didnt notice that til we got in the car. We have eaten at several other Firehouse locations in Columbus and have NEVER been treated the way we have today. Even the Sawmill location which is a very busy location has never once done anything remotely close to what this location has accomplished today. It is very sad because we dont live far from the Hilliard-Rome location and now if we want Firehouse Subs we will have to travel 10-15 miles out of the way. I dont think I will ever go back to any Firehouse Subs, ever. I believe if this location keeps this up they might as well be shut down. The subs were not very good. We both ordered Tuna subs and at least half of my sub didnt even have tuna in it (Man, me let tell you I just didnt settle well with me to have a wheat and cheese sandwich for half of my sub). No pickle, lukewarm soup, subpar overpriced subs and abysmal customer service has definitely turned me away for trying Firehouse Subs anytime soon. But if I had to say anything good about this experience today is that my wife DID enjoy her cherry Coke. But really, thats a self serve freestyle machine from Coke that did the good job. The machine was very attentive to what my wife wanted to drink. Thank you Coke! I know that this review was kinda of comical but I couldnt make up what happened here today. Please dont make the same mistake my wife and I did today. Stay away from the Hilliard-Rome Firehouse Subs. You will thank me later.

Compared to the other Firehouse sub places in Columbus ive been to... this one seems to have the most unenthusiastic employees. They dont all greet you like the other ones ive been to. Also, i went on a Friday evening and the dining area was kind of dirty and a mess. There were employees not doing anything but standing around watching tv behind the counter so im not sure why it was dirty. The employees all seemed to be very "blah" and acted like they didnt want to be there. My sub was good but no one asked me if i wanted a pickle.. and i could barely hear the guy call my name when my order was ready... as he was mumbling.. he wasnt very courteous when i left.. just handed me the bag and didnt say anything... Just not the kind of service i am used to from this establishment.. There are far better ones in the area.. I think i will stick to the one in Upper Arlington.

I would have put two stars if it wasnt for how good the sandwich was despite the fact it wasnt made how I asked. The girl that rang me up she seemed new and is this she really couldnt care less. Things I asked for like pickles were not given to me. And they put onions on my sandwich which I did not ask for and I absolutely hate. The chili I think is overpriced and not that great. It was my first time in many years at a firehouse sub location and will probably be my last. On a positive note, some of the other workers there seemed very nice.

As with all Firehouse subs, its nice to hear "Welcome to Firehouse" when you walk in the door. Always have quick service even at lunch time. When Ive gotten the wrong sandwich they fixed it right away and were willing to package up the mistake to take home. The only tricky thing is that the owner will only offer medium or large drinks with your meal, but Small does exist if you ask. Not that having a larger cup for the Coke Freestyle machine is a bad thing, that is!

They strive to get it right and fast. Friendly staff and great sub options. This place is worth a visit. Take the opportunity to eat inside to taste test as many different hot sauces as you can imagine... if youre into that sort of thing.

Much better than Subway! Note: If you do buy a pickle bucket and want to use it for anything in your house, I wish you luck! I have spent about a year trying to get rid of the pickle smell and finally gave up and use it outside :)

Im a big fan of the New York steamer and the engineer. The staff are friendly and service is quick. They have one of the new coke machines inside allowing you to mix and match flavors as you wish.

I ordered a 12 inch sub to split for my kids. They cut it and gave them separate plates without me asking. It was a huge help. Great customer service evertime I go there!

Great food, clean place. Terrible service. The kids were more interested in talking to each other then serving the customer. I wont be back at this location.

Great catering! We order lunch for 15-20 people and have ordered from them a few times. Each time the food was fresh and delicious. Excellent service.
