Garrish decor with the requisite Indian panels depicting Goddesses hanging around with elephants. Bright orange walls and poor lighting. Chutneys were quite good, particular the plum chutney. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, which contained a sufficient amount of lamb, insufficient amount of potato and lots of sauce. Taste was decent but not memorable. Also ordered were Samosas and Malai Kafta. Malai Kafta may have been converted catsup. Samosas were alright but more doughy than you typically see at Indian restaurants. Overall, the place wasnt awful but I wouldnt go out of my way to return.

Our favorite local Indian, especially when were getting delivery. At lunch, they have a good buffet, but I like it spicier -- and when you order individual entrees or delivery you can get whatever level of spiciness suits your tastes. The entrees are uniformly great, including the vegetarian selections. Fantastic naan (we particularly like the garlic naan), and the pakoras are really delicious along with their condiments. My personal favorite is a nice spicy plate of Chicken Tikka Masala.

WORST BUFFET ever! Ive been to a lot of indian restaurants around Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh. This buffet was the worst food Ive ever had. It was cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. The chicken tikka had no flavor, just chicken breast in plain tomato sauce. The saag paneer had no paneer just watered down greens! No spice, no flavor, just bad overall. Stay away from this place, even Mint next door is better and thats not saying much for India Palace.

I went to this place for dinner. Great quality vegetarian food! The quantity also wasnt meager by any means! The garlic naans here are the best that I ever ate. They also customize your food to various shades of spice levels that you wish for, if you mention it. I wish they would model the place to reflect the kind of food they prepare and make it look more happening. The food is excellent, the basics are certainly right and the location is nice too.

This is not only the worst Indian food Ive ever had. Its probably the worst FOOD Ive ever had. Their Tikka Marsala tasted like they took some chicken and poured a can of tomato sauce on it. I cant believe I had to pay for that. They obviously dont take any pride in preparing their food. Its TERRIBLE! DO NOT EAT HERE. Go next door to Mint. Its a little more expensive but 350% worth it.

I went some years ago and it was fine, but last night it was terrible. The place was empty, the food was obviously straight out of a can, and there was some thug bumming cigarettes out front and then he went into the place and started fixing himself drinks at the bar. Its like the place is a front for money laundering or something; its definitely not a real restaurant. Go elsewhere.

We just found the place over internet as we are living in Hampton Inn closeby. The food was amazing and we really enjoyed it. The owner was there and he very nice & humble and was very attentive . Will highly recommend for authentic indian Panjabi dishes (Paneer Masala, Daal, Paratha, Garlik naan was awesome). We will surely visit this place again.

Got spoiled back in SF. Buffet food was overall pretty bland especially tikka masala and curry chicken. Saag was ok. Tandoori chicken was cold but helped by the vegetables. Server/owner is not especially friendly. Pakoras were undercooked. Should have gone to Mint next door but I figured I would give them a try.

This is our go-to Indian place in Chapel Hill. The food is consistent and comforting, but nothing too crazy. Theres some communication problems sometimes with the wait staff, but they always seem more than happy to fix anything. Dear Lord if they dont mess up my pickup order every single time though.

I go to Guru with my girlfriend a couple times a month. Their food is absolutely fantastic. In my opinion it tastes better than the more expensive place a few doors down. Get the garlic naan and any korma dish with a Taj Mahal beer. Do it......They have the best buffet of anywhere on the weekends, too.

This is our go to place. We really like the food a lot. It has the most authentic North Indian Food in town. Suggested dishes are - saag paneer - shahi paneer Their samosas and pakoras are also very good. They make couple of items just on request for us like chilli panner and aloo parontha.

Old wine in new bottle. Yes, the interior is remodeled, (havent seen the kitchen!) but the food is the same old greasy, uninspired, made-for-american lovers of curry. Go there if you like the slop served at buffets everywhere in north indian inspired restaurants in east London and the US.

This was the worst Indian food I have ever had. I ordered the Malia Kafta and was very surprised by the Bright Red Color. It looked and tasted like Chef Boyardee sauce. The Kafta balls lacked any flavor. They tasted like rolled/deep fried potato. Dont waste your time here.

Wow, this place has gotten much better. Id go to this over Mint next door. IMO Mint has better decor, Guru has better food. Although the two are pretty close. Overall, awesome buffet with more flavor and spice than youd expect from a buffet.

We have been there twice and found the food to be fantastic and the service to be equally great. The prices are very reasonable. We tried different dishes on each occasion and have enjoyed everything! We will most definitely return!

I had: -Vegetable Jaifrezi (Fresh vegetables sautéed with ginger, garlic and tomato.) -Dal Makhni (lentils cooked with fresh herbs and spices sauteed in butter.). both were excellent, and I will be going back.
