It takes some guts to open an indian restaurant in the shadow of Haandi, a longtime institution of good indian food in this area. I am pleased to say that Saffron brought their A game and really make some great indian food. Add in that they deliver and have slightly lower prices , and they are my go-to for indian food. They make some of the best Chicken Tikka Masala Ive ever had. The star of the dish is their sauce, its truly fantastic and thankfully bucks the relatively recent trend of dumping way too much sugar (or honey) in it. It is a perfect balance of spices that give it a great depth of flavor. I order mine a little spicier than normal, my wife orders hers medium. If I had to find a complaint its that sometimes the chicken itself is a hair dry, and could probably be marinated a little longer/better. The chicken vindaloo is also tasty and very well done.

I may be one of their initial customers who still love to patronize their chicken Biriyani. Awesome aromatic, perfectly cooked with a good blend of Indian spices and was delicious.Biriyani grains were perfectly cooked that i could seperate grains without sticking each other. I also found they add a bit of Saffron milk , crunchy corn flakes, fried onions and nuts which is worth the price.I also had a good experience with their weekend buffet. Buffet price was moderate and worth. They add a pinch of saffron in rice dessert they have.Buffet consisted of different rice such as lemon rice, jeera rice, biriyani and had goat curry, fish fry which was great - a rare finder among Indian Buffet restaurants in VA, and much more.A fine Buffet for non-veg lovers.Above all staffs were so hospitable. Mindblowing experience.

Ordered delivery through Grub Hub - got to our place in Falls Church within a hour, food still hot. Delivery person was friendly and efficient. Containers were effectively packed in recyclable plastic, with no spillage. Food wise - Must get naan, perhaps two. Absolutely necessary for getting all the amazing sauces. Samosas were delicious. We ordered all vegetarian food, despite being three meat eaters. None of us missed the meat. The tofu was as good as can be expected, but the chick pea curry was where it was at. The dish was so delightful I was tempted to order again the next day because I couldnt get enough! For easy take out, I will definitely be coming back to this place.

I ordered for a home delivery @8:20 PM they said it will take 1 hour. I called @9:20PM they said parcel is on the way will take 30 mins may be because of traffic our boy is late and then again @10:05 PM I called them they said sorry brother it will take more 30 mins actually there was lot of rush and boy also need to deliver 1 more packet. Atlast @10:40 PM I got the parcel. It took 2h 20 mins to get the packet. I ordered for Goat Dum Biryani extra spicy. But no use they sent me with normal spicy. So this is why I am giving rating as 1.

I am not Indian, but I have had authentic Indian food and I would not describe Saffrons dishes as "authentic Indian". However, its some of the most flavorful food I have ever had. In spite of its shopping center location, the atmosphere is very intimate and welcoming. As long as you have the right expectations - not expecting 100% authentic Indian food - you will enjoy Safforns dishes immensely.

The restaurant / Chef should go and take lessons in Indian cooking first before serving such awful dishes! The Butter Chicken was sweet and tasteless. The Dal Makhani is something that has been opened up from a tin and tossed in lots of tomato sauce. For such disgusting dishes, its a good thing that they have kept the portions small! Not worth the time nor money. Indian cuisine at its worst!

Food is not great and not bad. We got briyani, chilli chicken, chicken fry. Chilli chicken didnt taste good felt like its days old. Briyani and chicken fry was ok. There is no aroma and masala in the chicken. Compared to other restaurants in this area it is good. Price is reasonable except for weekend buffet. Weekend buffet is not worth for $14. Very few varieties on buffet.

Have been to Saffron several times now and it has become a select favorite of my wife and I! We love Indian food and are always trying new restaurants, but Saffron gets 5 stars from me for consistently exceptionally flavorful cuisine. The lunch buffet is priced very competitively.

Im not sure about other negative reviews, but this time when I went, we got excellent service. We ordered lamb curry and it was made of one huge chunk which we couldnt share. We requested them that we ordered by mistake and to replace it and they did it with no hesitation.

Every employee was very kind and attentive to us, nothing but warm smiles, excellent service and delicious food. Finally found an Indian restaurant that made their food as spicy as our taste buds wanted. Look forward to coming back!

Marginal Indian food. The paneer kadai was low on salt and flavor. The tandoori roti was good however. Overall not impressed at all. The décor inside the restaurant is minimal and feels like a white room with tables and chairs.

I had never tried Indian food before, however, now I am hooked. I crave this like a pregnant woman. Ive tried other restaurants since falling in love with it but other places just dont come close to this yumminess.

Very difficult to say which one is more horrible food or service. Goat Kadai is sweets and Paneer Makhani is like Paneer in tomato soupe. That why even at Sunday evenings whole restaurant is empty.

Decent place for dinner. Ordered Tomato soup, Paneer Tikka masala, Butter Naan and Kulfi. Good quality and tasted nice. Bear with Long waiting time. Staff should be more friendly.

Staff makes you uncomfortable. I was being starred at by a man in the kitchen and also by the waiters. I was only in there for take out for 5 min and could not wait to leave.

Due to food allergies we ordered off the menu at lunch. It took some time but each dish was delicious. They were building the lunch buffet and that looked quite impressive.

Friendly service and excellent food. We especially enjoyed their chicken palak and chicken korma and the onion kulcha was the best weve had in Virginia.

Very tasty and lunch buffet is a good deal at $12. Service could be better (and a warmer welcome), and atmosphere was average.
