It is with great reserve that I find it necessary to change my review of Los Tres Magueyes on SW Maynard Rd in Cary. Our Family has a very long and personal relationship with this restaurant. Our first visit just after the birth of my Son in 1992, and going back at least twice a month since then. The time between visits became much greater for the past few years as we found the food becoming more and more commercial, and as a result; more bland. Upon our last visit, which was a bit earlier in the day, with more natural light filling the dining area, we decided that we would probably not return. The place was grungy. While waiting for our food, I studied the interior and noticed that the windows and sills, and walls were in dire need of cleaning. The ceiling tiles were the originals and badly needed replacing. Sadly, the Owners have found it more convenient to hoard the profits and not re-invest any money, other than the new seating that was installed a few years back. So, sadly, we say goodbye to an old friend. But fortunately, found a new friend. We visited the La Rancherita in Apex, and it was Wonderful! But thats another Story to be told...

First of all food is good (that is why 3 stars) But... We went there during Friday evening, after 10 mins of waiting at the reception some one responded and asked us to wait few mins to find a table. We were seated after 5 mins, a waiter came and gave us the menu and moved on to attend other tables, he ignored us totally. 10 mins later an other family was seated next table and the waiter attended them immediately continuing to ignore us. After some time our next table family had finished their dinner and got their check, we were still patiently waiting for some one to attend us... I went and informed at front desk about the situation, they immediately asked other waitress to help us out. Felt little bit awkward and unfriendly environment.

Today was my first and last time dining at this establishment. The Physician I work with took the staff out for lunch. My dish came out last, while my co-workers were almost done with their food and it was cold to make matters worst. The waitress was really nice and apologetic, but this is not acceptable to me. If my food is taking forever, it should hot. The manager only discounted $2.00 off our bill. I spoke with him and he had the nerve to say when I come back I can get a free meal. That meal should have been free!!!! I will never eat here again. The first impression is a lasting impression and I was not impressed at all. Very disappointed. I will stick with Toreros Mexican Resturant which has never disappointed me.

I went to Los Tres Magueyes on 1/18/10 with my husband and we both enjoyed it. I rated it above average based on this type of Mexican food place (relatively inexpensive). My husband and I are both from Texas, so you could call us Mexican food snobs, but I think for NC this place was pretty good. I really enjoyed the enchiladas, the beef, chicken and cheese one, but not the bean enchilada, it was a little bland. Their Margaritas were good as well, and they say they dont use concentrate which is nice. The salsa was good, but kind of mild for my tastes. I would go there again, especially since I found their coupons on their website. The service was really good and fast.

I just realized (after writing a Review for Mambo Italiano in Apex), that I have never written a review for our Favorite Restuarant in Cary. We made our first visit to Los Tres Magueyes shortly after their opening, about 17 years ago! Our eighteen year-old was just a Baby, and I remember our Waitress fussing at me for giving him some Guacamole... telling me that it would give him Gas! ...so, what can I say? The food, service and pricing cannot be beat by anyone in the area! And we have always been treated like Family at Los Tres...by staff and owners alike!

I was always a little hesitant to enter just based on the location and decor, but this place actually surprised me. I would call myself a food snob, and this place has some tasty dishes. The service is fast and friendly and the food takes no time at all. The drink special is also a plus. The price is cheap for how good the food is. Theres lots of choices for vegan and vegetarian Mexican food.

The food is truly amazing. The rice and beans that came with my combination plate were like none other that Ive ever had. I went around 4 pm on a Saturday. My girlfriend and I were one of the only tables there at the time and the food was still fresh and so delicious. For as good as the food is, the price too is great. This is our new favorite spot to eat in that area!!

The tacos I had were very bland, it didnt taste like the meat was seasoned at all. The hot sauce wasnt very hot, nor did I find it to have good flavor. The service was ok, the restaurant was pleasant and clean. All in all, your better off going to taco bell next door sadly, especially for the price. I was very disappointed and will not be returning.

I decided to try the restaurant again because of a coupon I had. The service was very fast, the staff was very nice but the food was in my opinion, only good. IMHO there are other better authentic Mexican restaurants in the Cary/Apex area. I probably wont visit the Los Tres Magueyes again unless we have another coupon.

Holy Frijole !!!! The service here has to be the fastest weve ever seen, I dont think 2 minutes went by before our plates were being dropped at our table.. This also has to be one of the most colorful restaurants you will ever step foot in...kids will dig it for sure! Good Mex, Great Price! Me Gusta Mucho!

Best Mexican food in town. My family has been going here for over 20 years and it never gets old. We know some of the staff and it is always a joy to go in there. Now that I am old enough, I get the Margaritas and have a great time with my family. It has been, and always will be, a family favorite.

By far in our top 3 of Mexican restaurants in the triangle, affordable, consistently delicious and not too pricey. We really dont care about price when it comes to dining out but its a nice change of pace to not have a 3 digit bill for a dinner for three.

Terrible Service. 3 out of 6 orders were incorrect. Our drinks were empty more than they were full. The restrooms were disgusting. To top it off, when we tried to use a gift certificate we had purchased, they refused to honor it. Stay away!

menu items some were very authentic some were typical; much variety; great prices and large portions. if you dont know what something is- ask before you order it, I got some "chile with queso" that was just a tortilla with melted cheese. ha
