HORRIBLE restaurant. We live in the area and I have complained about restaurants a grand total of twice in my life, but this place takes the cake. On one visit, we were forgotten and ignored at the bar for more than 30 minutes without even a drink order. After a reboot, we tried the place again with a group of five. The poor server has obviously never been trained and was completely overwhelmed with five tables. She dumped a bowl of salsa in the middle of the table and said "I spilled a little". Several minutes later she returned with nothing to clean it up. She proceeeded to use a cloth napkin to wipe yhe salsa onto the floor and the palm of her hand and then folded the napkin and shoved into her apron pocket. Immediately this was followed by "can i take your order?" Without the table ever being wiped down and salsa juice everywhere. After a few minutes, she arrived to our table of 5 with the food for a two top and started handing us someone elses food. Then she took the plates back and delivered them to the correct table. Minutes later, she spilled an ENTIRE soda for another table directly into my lap and went running away leaving the ice and liquid still running off the table into the booth under us as we tried to get up. Brutal. Just Brutal.

I am writing this review because I think that there are some very unfair reviews on here and OTB definitely deserves more than 3 stars!! First, the service is great... once you get to a table. The hostesses wont wow you, but the wait staff will far exceed your expectations. They have the best salsa in town... and probably in NC. If you think its too spicy, just ask for the mild (which they only bring upon request). And the food is the BEST! The perfect meal: Start out with a bowl of white queso and a bowl of guacamole. Their Borderita margaritas are my favorite! A bit pricey, but worth every penny! For your main course, try one of their specialty fajitas, a chicken quesadilla, or the southwest chicken tacos, mmmm mmm! And for desert (this is one place you definitely must not skip on dessert) you must try the turtle empanadas!!!!! Not a chocolate lover? Then go for the apple crisp. Both are fabulous! Dont listen to a bimbo who rates a restaurant bad simply because the manager needed his employees to spend their time doing what they were paid to do. Thats what AAA is for. On the Border is great, if you havent been there, Cinco de Mayo would be a great day to go... I know I will be there! Oh, and the great outdoor patio is another plus when the weather is nice!

Three of us had dinner here on Saturday night around 7:30. Wait time was about 20 minutes so we happily went to the bar for drinks. After 10 minutes of NO acknowledgement of us being there, I caught the bar backs eye and said "Can we order drinks?" She kept staring at the glass she was washing for a few seconds, then finally looked up at me with a very sarcastic "Of course!" We ordered drinks and another 5 minutes went by, no drinks arrived. There was literally NO bartender at the crowded bar. Our table became ready so we left the bar after unsuccessful attempts to get their attention. Two of us ordered carnitas fajitas and one ordered an enchilada special. Enchiladas were pretty good. And the pork on the carnitas was outstanding. But the rice and bean side dish was cold and the tortilla shells were dry and too thick. In the meantime, the ladies bathroom toilet was overflowing and a waitress was overheard saying that the ladies bathroom was disgusting (unclean). We will never come back here. Too bad. It used to be good.

We come here when the Queso is free (coupon, etc) and love that and the Fish Tacos but prices have gone up so much (two were $9.99) thats its becoming a last choice on our eat out list. To top it off, last visit we got an order of Chicken Fajitas - $14.50 and literally about 5 small strips of chicken, about 5pcs of onion and pepper and thats it. Really thought it must have been a Lunch portion and our waitress didnt know when I asked. Is this a Mexican restaurant? At other real Mexican places, for $11-13 we get a HUGE plate of sizzling fajitas that feed two with leftovers! OTB - Done unless really craving some queso.

Went there with a group of 10 people. Our original waiter mysteriously disappeared after he introduced himself and a waitress took over. The waitress was good, but over booked causing the table to run out of drinks and chips (even though we had a fresh queso order). The manager, Jeff, came over an apologized for the poor service and personally made sure that we were taken care of for the rest of the night. What was initially pretty poor service turned into a pretty memorable and good night thanks to the manager who went above and beyond.

I live almost within walking distance of this On the Border, so we go there at least twice a month. Hubby always gets different items, but I LOVE my Fajita Salad (chicken) - It is so delicious. Im heartbroken about the fire, but thankful no one was hurt. I hope you are able to reopen VERY soon. The service here is awesome, friendly, fast, and I dont think I can find anything to complain about other than sometimes Id like to take a large group there and, while we can "call ahead," we cant make reservations. Keep up the great work!!

Food was pretty good, and service perfectly acceptable. My main complaint is about the drinks. I had 2 regular sized on the rocks margaritas and a large frozen one. My date had 2 large frozen margaritas. They were all delicious, but we 1) tasted no alcohol and 2) felt no alcohol. When I got home 20 minutes later we breathalyzed ourselves and both blew .02. A single beer will put me at a .02. I did call and the manager was very nice and I guess is sending coupons. But I can tell you I will use those for food, or bottled beer only!

First time Ive been here since it burned down. The service was terrible. We had to tell our waiter a couple of times we wanted chips. He once said oh Ill bring you out more. We hadnt even gotten any at that point. They now do a family style service for the beans and rice. So if you have a large party and everyone wants something different they charge you extra. It took forever for us to get our food and then it took forever for us to get the checks. Honestly I dont plan on coming here again anytime soon.

Really bad experience there today. Everything started out OK then the waiter forgot to bring the drinks. He apologized. Then we waited for 35 minutes for food but one of the dishes was wrong. Waiter did not stop by to check in on us or let us know it would be late. He kept avoiding eye contact. Talked to a manager and they comped the meal, but we had to wait another 20 minutes for the rest of the food. It was a waste of an evening for some cold food we ended up eating at home. NEVER going back.
