The brunch I had today was outstanding. First off, they have every style of coffee you could ask for at a restaurant: lattes, Vietnamese coffee, drip, beer with espresso, etc....I had a miel with almond milk and it stayed frothy during my whole meal (which isnt common with almond milk. Also, the prices were amazing for the quality of food received. We started with the beingets (sp? Im in my phone so cant check) and they were great. Warm and chewy with a perfect amount of powered sugar. You get 3 decent sized ones for $4. My companion had the biscuits and gravy. It came with 2 homemade biscuits, which were firm in the outside and soft on the inside, perfect for saucy dishes. There was an ample amount of nice, crumbled sausage. But, the star of this dish was the "gravy", if you want to call it that. It was more like a sauce or something, but it was amazing. So much flavor and you didnt feel gross and filled to the brim with daiey afterwards like you do with a traditional biscuits and gravy. At $9 this was a steal. I had the shrimp and grits. There was about 6 pretty small shrimp, but the dish was still good. The grits were form, rather than soupy, which I like. They had good texture. The creole sauce was tasty, albeit a bit too sweet. I would have preferred less sweet and some heat. They do give you Tabasco on the side, so they must know it lacks heat. Still tasty though. And its served with one of the biscuits mentioned above. Lots of fun alcoholic drinks listed if you want boozy brunch, although I didnt have any so I cant review them. I definitely want to check this place out for dinner - the special written on the chalkboard looked delicious.

This place was awesome. It was busy on a Saturday night, but the owner himself added us to the list and it didnt take that long to be seated. The food was incredible: I got the Winter Salad and Meat Skewers, while my fiance got the fish and chips. I was craving a salad, but I always worry when ordering one because some places kind of half-ass salads and I didnt see anyone else with one while we were waiting. The Winter Salad was a work of art - big leaves of lettuce with cubes of squash, wild rice, blue cheese, and pumpkin seed brittle. It wasnt tossed so much as constructed, and was super satisfying. The sauce with the meat skewers (pork that evening, with a spicy honey mustard sauce) was very flavorful and tasty. The fish and chips was more standard fare; my date was disappointed that it came with mayo rather than tartar sauce, but the breading was very light and crispy. Its the cocktail list that really impressed me though, and will definitely bring me back. They have a whole page of cocktails and adult milkshakes (ice cream and booze). I had the Milagro Margarita and their signature drink - The Ward 6 - and both were very distinctive and balanced. I like that both had a little hot pepper (which is why I picked those - they have lots of non-spicy drinks). The Milagro Margarita could totally sustain me through a MN winter.

Im giving a 2 star and not 1 because the food and beer selection was actually pretty good. But....the wait staff and management need total retraining. Poor wait etiquette from the waitress; clearing plates reaching over people, passing down dishes to the middle person at the table and so on. Just go over table waiting 101 with the waitress. I probably wouldnt comment on that had more not gone wrong. 2 cups of coffee were ordered and both came out cold (no exaggeration), had to get up to get a waitress because ours never checked on us. Their excuse is that "we dont know the temperature because the container its brewed into is insulated". If its been sitting there all day you can assume its cold but how about when you pour it? Then 4 out of 4 bowls of soup came out less then luke warm. When we finally got our bill the manager made no attempt to comp anything or even offer anything as an apology. I had to go up to him and mention everything that was screwed up and he finally took items off the bill. When he delivered the new bill he apologized but essentially passed the blame on the waitress (granted theres some blame of heres but the coffee and soup?). Again the food was pretty good but retraining is very necessary.

The ambiance here is great. It is a bit small and crowded sometimes but since it is such a cute spot we put up with it. The food is a bit funky. If you like things plain this isnt the place for you. They have very unique takes on things and often times the flavors are pretty strong. I enjoy their trivia nights but often times it is hard to beat the people who come every week as winners always choose the topics. The kitchen is tiny but you would never know it with all the fancy and delicious things that come out of it. We come here for their selection in beer and to check out their changing specials. Our typical server remembers us and weve only been there 5-6 times. Sometimes their crazy takes on things arent always my favorite but this place classes up the neighborhood and I will definitely continue to support it. I believe the owner is typically always in. I like that he hangs around to check out his supporters and make sure things are running smoothly but he could be more personable, he doesnt seem to converse, suggest or talk much with his customers.

We searched online for best brunch in St Paul. Ward 6 showed up on some searches depending on keywords used. We went to another location that placed on the top of several lists, but encountered a long wait. We decided to come to Ward 6 after more searching. I STRONGLY recommend you make Ward 6 your first choice. And if you are fortunate enough to have Lori serve you, it will be a great experience. She is very knowledgeable of menu items and products from the bar. Since she is a native Minnesotan, shes invaluable as a resource for things to do as well. Service is prompt and the kitchen delivers as advertised. Returning to California, but this location is "Gold Starred" and we will return if we are in the region. Locals from the greater Twin Cities need to venture out of the downtown areas and discover Ward 6!

I went yesterday and left a 5 star review. The food was amazing. Went back today with a buddy of mine but the table service was appalling. The bar was packed so we decided to get a table and wait until there was an open seat. The plan was to get apps and drinks while we waited. When the server came we informed her and she said that when we moved we would have to close out with her then go to the bar and start another tab. I understand but she didnt have to be so rude about it. She interrupted us before we could explain that because of the company we work with we could only charge our travel cards once per meal. At that point we decided instead of waiting for an open seat at the bar we would go elsewhere. I was really disappointed because it was a night and day difference from what I experienced yesterday.
