This was a while back ago me and my buddys live like a block away and would always come for their steam dumplings and they were always made fresh. Every time we come in the lady who owns the place already knows that we are gonna order their steam dumplings. How ever one day we order 8 steam dumplings 3 were fresh and the rest were rotted, cold and from the day before. We went back to tell the lady that the other 5 were from the day before and is rotten. For some reason she became rude and act like she didnt know about it. Of course we had to wait for some fresh ones. We stop ordering the steam dumplings ever since. Me and my wife would come to eat their and service was always good but some reason it began to become bad. One time Me my wife and her kid sister who is only 8 years old came to dine in and made some orders that also include 1 Viet sandwich for the kid sister. We waited for almost 20 mins and notice that people that came in later to order after us got theirs before us. My wife kid sister was so hungry that I had to go and demand one of the worker to make the sandwich for her to eat. I watch them make it to make sure nothing wrong is put in and it which only took less then a min. We paid for the sandwich only and left. I am so disappointed at that place. My buddies never came back to that place. I never went back or did my wife. Even people my wife knew hate that place. Never again I will come to that place.

With the multitude of Asian restaurants and pho houses to choose from in St Paul, it’s understandable to have overlooked the gem that is Saigon Express. Saigon Express offers a combination of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes and everything Laurie and I have had compels a desire to return. The pho comes in 3 sizes – a generous “small”, medium, and for hearty appetites, large. Each comes loaded with tender juicy chicken, an array of vegetables, and rice noodles swimming in a rich broth layered with a nuance of flavors. One of the best in the Twin Cities. Our favorite appetizer is Saigon Express signature banh mi bites. 4 pieces are served open-face on a crunchy baguette slathered with a garlic-y aioli and topped with different meats – meatball, roast pork, BBQ pork, rare beef – then crowned in a traditional manner with match-stick sliced carrot, jalapeno, cucumber, and a vinaigrette. The bun salads rock! My flavorite is bun topped with sautéed chicken and onions or BBQ pork or roast pork or…they’re all great! I’m going to lunch!

The only reason why I am giving it one star its only because of the driver who delivered my food, he was very nice... But let me tell you my experience with the manager. I called and made an order to deliver, she was very nice taking my order after 20 minutes on the phone because I could not understand what she was saying i asked for someone who spoke english to explain what i wanted, I asked for spring rolls no meat 5 times and they sent the order with meat and shrimp, then when I called back to let her know about the wrong order, the manager went off on me, all because shes screwed up my food... Will never order food from this place again.

I liked some of the dishes so I was a repeat customer til one day I saw the lady cleaning the tables and she took some leftover herbs and reused them for another customer. As soon as she noticed that I had seen what she did her facial expression was a shocked and a "I got caught" sorta look. Ten minutes later as she was restocking the fork and spoons she dropped 1 and picked it up and put it with the rest of the clean ones. This place hasnt always been tidy but after seeing this sorta thing I will never ever go back! No respect for the customers and lack of business ethics.

Today was the first time we have tried this establishment and I must say that we were impressed! For starters, we had the egg rolls and they were so amazing, as well as the sauce that accompanied them. For the main course, Pho was served. The pho was loaded with delicious meat and tasted so heavenly, especially on rainy day like today. On top of the excellent food was the excellent service. Ha was our servers name and she was superb and so friendly, best service we have received in a long time! Highly recommend to have any meal here!

i really like their pho and sandwich but everything about that place dont look clean at all. they need to clean their utensils and condiments more often and refill them. i never use their chili oil pepper bc its old and never fresh, you can tell by looking at it and especially tasting it. i hate the big guy that serves there bt he just got fired, gooood! just bc its in a ghetto area, pls still clean up and make the place look better!

I went here with my Vietnamese girlfriend. She ordered Pho and when the preparation plate (sprouts, jalapenos, lime etc) arrived, I noticed previously chewed meat on the plate! Its very clear that they recycle these plates and dont even clean them! She ordered a new bowl with fresh noodles. It was very clear why the previous person spat out the meat. It was inedible. The place is filthy. Dont make the mistake we did.

I love their dishes, especially the phos. But there are some things that I dislike. Even when youve just sat down and it hasnt been 10 minutes, the waiter starts taking your order. I hate being rushed especially when I didnt even get a chance to look at the menu. Sometimes if rarely, you get a refill of water. Its just the little things that bugs me. But overall its a pretty good place to grab a bite.

Giving it 5 stars because it has the best pho and vermicelli noodles dish I ever had in my life! So what if its small, not as clean, or service sucks most times. I mean most asian places are like that, so what do you expect. The vermicelli dish has huge portions of tasty meats. The pho broth and their meat ball is the most flavorful and most unique I ever had at any resturant.

i LOVE the pho... Just wished the place was a little bigger and cleaner. Parking is hard especially when theres a lot of people. And I wished the servers gave you more than 1 minute before asking what you want to order. Even so, I come back over and over for the pho. Also the prices keep going up.

I ordered takeout lemongrass chicken and will not again. Although there was lemongrass and chicken in the dish, the sauce had the characteristic gelatinous goo consistency of Chinese food and tasted like sweet and sour chicken. It was cheap, but I would rather pay more and get what I wanted.

Ordered online. Been 90 minutes and my foods still not here yet. It was only a three items order. Called and the guy on the phone was rude. I always go to this place but its time for a new favorite place. I regret "pre-tipping" with my orders. Not worth the trouble. AND NOW IM HUNGRY! Wtf.

Date came in. Sept. 1st. 2016. 10 a.m. Opens at 10a.m. and does not serve food. Then why are you even open at 10 a.m. for? Sat outside for 20 mins. For them to tell me they cant make three Bahn Mis. Shouldnt you be ready for customers at 10? Disappointed. Been a loyal customer for years.
