I went to this restaurant on a whim and couldnt be more pleased. I ordered the Lamb Korma and it was delicious. The waitstaff were perfect--very attentive and kind. The atmosphere was even pleasant. I would definitely go back again. Update: I have been there again and everything was great the second time around! Everything that we tried was absolutely delicious. The only negative thing that happened was it took a while for us to get our check at the end of the meal--we didnt say anything about it but the server must have known that he messed up a little bit and gave us a complimentary dessert. Now thats great service. This is now my go-to local Indian restaurant. Update: I have been to Sambol a few more times and, while it is still good, it seems that some of the quality has slipped a bit. The food hasnt been quite as good, and we received styrofoam take out containers instead of the aluminum foil-based containers that we had previously received. These things bring my rating down from five to four stars. So, in short, still good but maybe slipping a bit.

I would never expect to find a place like this hidden in a strip mall so what a pleasant surprise. A good Indian restaurant in our vicinity! We found the family and staff to be very gracious and accommodating, each time weve gone (only 2 so far) the buffet line is fresh and full (I like that its separated by veggie entrees and meat entrees and dessert items)...the carrot pudding was amazing, the rice pudding even more so...love the fresh side salad and options for dressings. The mango lassis were so delicious and quick to be brought to the table. The place is clean and not too big and usually full but not overcrowded so its easy to get right in and eat and we have been able to take our time without a rush. A lot of Indian clientele here so, to me, I know that means its authentic and good which it is. Prices are very good. Quality and overall value is excellent - go!!

Ive given Sambol many chances. Its the closest Indian restaurant to me, and I can easily pick up food on the way home. I dont think Ill be going back anymore though. Tonight was the fourth time Ive picked up my food only to find out either at the register or back at home that the it is not what I ordered. I typically order Lamb Palak. Twice Ive received Lamb Curry and caught it at the counter before I left. In another instance I received a new concoction - Potato Palak - which had the right sauce but no lamb, only potatoes. Tonight I brought back my order and it was a mixture of cashews, chicken and tofu. When the food is done right here, it can be delicious. Nevertheless, Sambols repeated inability to even get my order right has turned me away.

Food was good. But beware of the man in the turban. Mr Punjab. He has no customer skills whatsoever. Very Creepy and continued to stare at us everytime he walked by. PLEASE NOTE. Upon leaving I left a tip ON THE TABLE for the server who was from GOA India and he was very hospitable. Also said hi to the cook who also happens to be from Goa. Both were friendly. Then I went to pay the bill and paid the food portion (as I already left tip on table in cash). The man in the Turban SLAMMED the cashier countertop and pointed at the tip on the recpt and glared at me. It might be a LONG time before I dine here again. P.S. I was dining with my wife. She agreed that he was extremely RUDE & CREEPY.

I just ate here for lunch today. I had a good experience at this restaurant. The location is convenient, and the restaurant itself is clean and has a good atmosphere. The staff were very helpful with my picky eater son, and were super friendly. I had the buffet. The food tasted great! The only reason I marked down the stars, from 5 to 4, is because the weekday buffet is moderately small compared to some of the others Ive been to. If I could have given it a four and a half stars out of five I would have, because the quality of the food was very good, and the service was excellent! I would definitely recommend Indian Zayka, and would eat here again!

I live in Lakeville and work in Minneapolis. I go often to Bombay Bistro in Mpls, which I thought was the best Indian food in the Twin Cities. After going to the buffet at Sambol though, its a tie. Sambol is every bit as good as Bombay Bistro, without having to drive downtown and pay for parking. So, although I may go to Bombay Bistro for lunch, you can definitely find me at Sambol evenings and weekends!! Dont miss the paneer (any paneer dish) and rice pudding!!! WAY WAY WAY better than Taste of India!!!

My friend and I decided to try this for lunch. The food is good but not really anything special. Its worth what you pay, but the problem was with the service. After we finished eating we sat and chatted for 10-15mins before the host walked over and asked us to leave our table since they needed the room. This wouldnt have been to much of a problem except for we could see open tables around us. Sadly, it ruined the whole experience and I can say I wont be going back.

Gosh I love Sambol. So so much. The BEST food and the nicest servers. I had never had indian food before but my friends wouldnt stop talking about this place. One of my friends left chicken masala in the fridge one night and i tried it. Amazing. Havent been able to stop going there since. Be careful - everything is addicting!!!! Love the takeout for dinner too. Heard something about a tv show featuring this place next month - totally deserved.

I recently tried the buffet at this restaurant. I thought it very tasty and also clean. The person who waited on us could have been more friendly. He looked like was sucking on a lemon. In spite of that I will be returning for more of the delicious Indian cuisine. I would give this place a five star rating, but decided to give four because of the waiter.

Update: So so so sad Sambol is now closed! Previous Post: Yum, I love Sambol! Ive tried almost everything off their menu (which is quite extensive) and absolutely love it! Their willingness to accommodate a gluten allergy is also wonderful. The food, service, and atmosphere has also improved quite a bit over the last few years. A hidden gem for sure!

Only ever been for the lunch buffet, but every dish Ive tried has been excellent. Buffet price is very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you can have. The deviled chicken is great, a really interesting sweet/spicy dish. Even if you buy into the service/price complaints of other recent reviewers Id say give the lunch buffet a try.

some what like Indian food....But not so good in taste. And the menu is so dull and very poor, Will be satisfactory for people who never know what Indian / Srilankan Food tastes like, but for all others its very disappointing, and the amount of turmeric powder used in lemon rice is too too much. Desserts are also very bad.
