A couple of things kind of ruined what was supposed to be a great birthday dinner. One, owner seemed a bit put off that I wanted to be seated well away from two large, loud parties of diners. If Im going it alone I do not enjoy being sandwiched in between said large parties, where the only tables-for-two are, crammed into what should be an aisle. I want a nice relatively quiet dinner. Two, drinks and wine menus were thrust at me well before the food menu was. It was obvious that there was an expectation to order a glass of wine or cocktail. Because when I didnt, there was... consternation... on the servers face. And it was obvious throughout the dinner that the server had never worked as such in his life. Three, the (I assume it was) the owner tried to hard sell me on having some bread after I had ordered. When rice is served with the meal and Im having an appetizer I dont need bread, TYVM. Four, the food. Chai was unremarkable. My pakoras would have been very good if not for the ridiculous amount of salt in the chickpea batter. The Chicken 65 was... decent, but not inspired. The Chole Peshawari was very strange... this is the first time Ive run into Chole where the curry/sauce was predominantly oil - or hopefully, ghee - so much so that it was chickpeas and potatoes in oil sauce. Very strange. All in all, and especially at those prices, could have delivered quite a lot better quality of service and food. Good luck.

WORST SERVICE EVER !! Ordered food from the place after a friend suggested that the food was good and ofcourse I was hungry. After having waited for an hour and a half they call up and ask if I received the food - which they actually never sent, the delivery service that was to deliver the food said the restaurant has said that they cannot fulfill the order and they realize that after making the customer wait for almost 2 hours. On questioning, one of the guys on the other end of the phone rudely responds back telling that its not their fault and hung up the call. Let me think..oh yes its my fault.. because I ordered food from your place?? this kind of attitude of theirs will not help in their business. Order from this place if you want to wait for 2 hours and not get the food and as I understand from other reviews its the same case with dine in service, go to this restaurant if you have a lot of leisure time, theyll make you wait anyways. I am sometimes fine with the food being okay but if a restaurant does not have good customer service, I will never go back to that place and nor take anyone else to that place and I definitely not to this place....NEVER!!!

I have never written a food review here, but I have to say that this is an outstanding Indian restaurant and warranted accolades. If you have eaten at Indian restaurants on 8th Ave in NYC,Copper Pot is on par with the lot of them. Note: We did not have the buffet, we ordered from the menu. As vegetarians, the selections were plentiful with very interesting flavors. Very different from other ones, like Taste of India and Gandhi Mahal. Sometimes one can go to an Indian restaurant and feel like it has been Americanized. Having had authentic dishes cooked by friends and family, I dont feel that way at all. The Copper Pot chef is from Southern India, so he knows a lot of very hot dishes. I would recommend that you ask for "mild" if you dont like a lot of heat. The wait staff and owner are really very nice. As with any place, if you order a dish and its not how it was expected or described then send it back, restaurants want to get it right, thats how they keep customers happy.

Me and my husband went to this restaurant during lunch hours and ordered only one buffet to eat there. I just had 2 sips from his Tea (that small little joke like cup that has only 5 sips). The person at the counter noticed that i had 2 sips of his Tea and at the time of Bill he charged us $4 for that tea which was included in buffet, only because i had 2 sips from his Tea thats it. It was total Racism he showed towards Indian people. Though they should be pleasing towards Indian people not showing they just care about Money. No Indian restaurant charges $4 for Tea anyway. Don,t go to Copper Pot if you guys really want yourself to be treated well and Indians should be treated same as other in this Restaurant.

I was in town for a conference and was looking for places to eat which had vegetarian options. I was glad to have found this place for lunch with the downside that I pigged out and are too much to actually keep my wits in the afternoon session. They have an excellent South Indian buffet that I couldnt have enough of, consequently I came back the next day for dinner with more friends, some of whom were having Indian food for the first time. They all loved the food equally. Great for vegetarian and vegan options. The only downside was that oneof the servers was hesitant to make an entree vegan and insisted that it couldnt be made as such. The chef proved him wrong though.

I work in the Lumber Exchange building so I eat here all the time (at least once a week). I have never been disappointed. I brought my family and friends here and they all LOVED it. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, and the $8 lunch buffet cannot be beat!! The food is always SO good, if a little spicy, but I love spicy so its fine. If youre not a fan of spicy stuff, be careful! Even for a spicy lover like me it can really pack a punch. Honestly one of the best Indian restaurants Ive ever been to, and Ive been to quite a few. If youre looking for great Indian food with great service, this is your go-to place.

To start out the food here was exceptionally good. I would easily recommend eating here to others. The reason for such a bad rating though is the quality of service. I came here with a group of six for restaurant week which is a flat price for starter, entree, and desert. The first 2 courses were perfect but after finishing the main we had to wait over a half hour for the desert as we believed they had forgotten. We had to ask about it. Then it was another 40 minutes waiting for the bill, we had to ask the staff several times for it. TLDR: So overall the service was terrible but food was amazing.

Service is very slow..food is bland in taste. took 45 mins for main course..chicken 65/ starter took 10mins .One delhi side people seated after us were served food first even thou the order was same i.e dosa ,so that it upsetting. Ordered chicken 65 as starter and the taste is ok.Cocktail dosa is good .. achari chicken kabab was cold and not good. You have to pay extra 11 to 16 usd for parking during weekends or weekday.. so will not visit again.. I see most americans giving good reviews because the food is more americanised and bland/tasteless.Better try Persis for authentic and indian flavor.

I was here for their Saturday lunch buffet. while this is my first Indian restaurant in Minneapolis, this would be tough to beat considering the quality of food. I am a vegetarian and they had medu wada, pakora, upma, pongal, fried rice, paneer subzi, palak Gobi, baingan subzi n rice. while I didnt try it all, I did enjoy the medu wada, sambhar, upma, paneer and palak gobi . each item with distinct taste to suit my Indian pallette. dessert blew my mind , fabulous tasting pineapple cake and choc kesar. must try place and I will go again. buffett was 13.99+tax. worth it.
