My family and I usually dont have any issues at Saffron. Not very long ago, we had quick service any time of day and a very charismatic waiter. Apparently he was a ballroom dancer, and he demonstrated some moves to prove it. As for the food, it was always at top quality and came out 15 minutes or less. Last night, our family found out that the waiter we liked had moved away, but we still decided to eat dinner there. All of us had arrived very hungry, and we ordered immediately. I ordered Tandoori Chicken, but mildly spicy since I cant handle heat that well, and an order of garlic naan. The waiter had told me that it would be a 20 minute wait since they had to cook the chicken from scratch, and I understood. 25 minutes pass and the naan, which normally comes out before the food like usual, is still not there. The waiter did not come to check on us at all, or reassure us that the food would be out shortly. I had to actually call him over to ask if he could bring out the naan, which he had told me was ready to serve. He leaves to get it and my family and I wait another 15 minutes before he comes out with all the food, with the naan coming last. I had tried some of my Tandoori chicken and it was more spicy than what "mild" should taste like. It was delicious, but too spicy for me. My mother notices my distress and calls over the waiter to inform him. He goes and tells the chef who comes out not much later. The chef proceeds to tell us that he had served me the regular tandoori chicken because the waiter hadnt specified that I wanted it mild, even though we had told him thats how I wanted the chicken. Overall, the food had good taste, but I wouldnt go there to dine in ever again. We were frequent customers with the waiter that we liked, but without him, its just not good service. Having to wait that long for food is outrageous. If you do plan to dine in in the future, go around lunch when they have a buffet so you dont have to deal with such horrible service.

Excellent value for the price. We came for the buffet and liked all (!) dishes very much. Their fish was not overcooked, that had been a rare experience compared to elsewhere. Our son loved the Tandoori chicken, very moist. The lamb was beautifully tender. The fried puri with lentils was good, their naan fresh, paneer solid. We nibbled on their desserts, carrot halva and mango mousse were pleasantly light (very appropriate at the end of a buffet meal). They could increase or vary their spice level across dishes more. The heat level was mild to medium. One piece of advise: They serve their mango lassi with whipped cream, if you dont want that, let them know when ordering or just use your straw.

Average food there are better options in close vicinity itself. I am writing this after 3 tries. First we ordered navratanat korma spicy and was not at all good. Then one of my friend told that the place has a new chef now so the quality should be better. I ordered another dishes next time and told spicy again but this time it was way too hot...we could not identify any gravy taste because of too much chilly. Third time we ordered pani Puri, malai kofta, pani Puri was having a weird smell, like were cooked in old oil or something like that....and the curry was average only. The only outstanding thing is naan and kulchas.

I had read several reviews about the buffet being limited, but because Im a huge fan of Indian food, I wanted to give a local place a shot anyway...and Im glad I did! Took my family there, and overall, enjoyed it immensely! The chicken tiki marsala was as good as any Ive had, and the rice pudding was EXCELLENT. Everything I had there was good, and the buffet, IMHO, was just fine...about 5 vegetarian dishes and about the same for carnivores. Well be returning!

We visited the restaurant last nite and ordered chicken roll, vegetable biryani, garlic naan n paneer tikka masala...chicken roll was really bad and very over spicy. Vegetable biryani was stale, undercooked, tasteless and very spicy again. When we did provide the feedback to the owners, we did get to see the attitude in their response that we should have ordered the food correctly. This restaurant is not even a single time go. One of the worst experiences ever.

We have dined at Saffron several times before tonight and always enjoyed our meals. We write tonight because the quality and service has reached a new level of enjoyment. The chicken saagwalla was delicious as was a delightful baingan bhartha. We had these spicy and that was perfect. The plentiful serving of achar was wonderful. We will return for our next Indian cuisine fix.

Every time you go there you find the management is different. Did quality was okay but not great. Server forgot the order and had to remind her of the order. Even after reminding the cook had to come out of kitchen to confirm the order. Saw a person working in the kitchen wearing the same gloves and coming out and serving others which to me was not very hygienic.

I was very skeptical about going to saffron because I had a very very bad experience there before. But when they reopened again this month one of my friend took me there food is delicious everything changed good staff and management (not rude like before). I can say best Indian food you can get in Memphis right now.

Stopped in for a quick to go lunch and got a buffet box. The lunch was $10.95 and included all I could fit in the box plus a soup plus fantastic naan with real whole, chopped garlic and herbs on top. The food is delicious, the service was friendly and fast. Ill definitely be back!

They have a wonderful lunch buffet with a large variety of food vegetables, soups ,chicken ,goat, desserts .I felt the staff was wonderful, constantly coming up to ask if everything is good filling your drink before you can get finished, great an experience.

On the pricey side, but the best Indian food in town when they are open. Theyve reopened under a new management. While the food is not as good as it was originally, it is still better than many other indian restaurants in town

Very average quality food. Prices are higher than standard. We ordered spicy food which was way too much hot and the real taste of gravy was lost. Overall not a good experience. Wouldnt recommend.

Great service and the food was great! I had the chicken tikka and she had the tandoori chicken. Samples of other foods were brought out. The chef stopped by as well. Highly recommend!!
