Im not sure why people rave about this place and rate it so highly - as it if it the best Middle Eastern spot in Dearborn. Really? I was an out of town visitor (well, actually country since I crossed the border from Canada that day) and I was looking forward to excellent Middle Eastern cuisine from the most populated Arab/Middle Eastern city in the US. We got beef kebab and chicken (forgot the name, it had garlic in it). The food came out fast which was great but it was not worth 15-18 dollars a plate. Im from Toronto, a city filled with great food choices and I have had better Lebanese and other Middle Eastern foods there. Our waiter was nice, but he was sweating profusely as some other male waiters were too. The place gets busy and they are all running around the place. Although we were there on a Thursday and it wasnt too packed. Very good baba ganoush and lentil soup, I must say. Would I come back here - probably not because I would like to explore other restaurants in Dearborn, BUT my experience wasnt terrible so I wouldnt be opposed to going back and trying some other dishes. Its the price that just shocked me. Basic food shouldnt be 18 dollars a plate - especially when the rice is plain and the alternative is fries. Ridiculous prices in my opinion.

Trust Anthony Bourdain, Al-Ameer is really good. Granted Dearborn probably has a gazillion middle eastern restaurants, and Im not a great judge of middle eastern cuisine, but I loved Al-Ameer. First, service was great. The restaurant was a bit rowdy, but thats part of the experience. Theres an open kitchen, so you can see the food getting cooked. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Now the food. Definitely get a variety of dishes, instead of just getting one combo plate. We had 4 people, so we got two entrees and the combo for 2 plate. All entrees and combo plates come with salad. The default is lebanese salad, but we opted for tabbouli, which was amazing. It was so fresh and flavorful. The combo plate for 2 was a great deal. For 26 bucks, you get two portions of salad, 3 skewers, two portions of shwarma, two grape leaves, and two fried meat balls or some such. Sooooo much food. Entrees are also a great deal. We got the chicken ghallaba and the fried fish. Both come with rice and salad, and both were delicious! Definitely recommend.

I ordered take out on August 27th. I have dined-in and ordered take-out from Al Ameer for many years. I received an email from my credit card company that there was an unusually generous tip on my credit card charge from this restaurant. I have a copy of my credit card receipt and it is true. Someone at the restaurant deliberately changed the tip amount. I am calling the credit card company and alerting the BBB. I will talk to the credit card company about notifying the authorities. My concern is that this could be happening to other customers. This is blatant stealing. This is a Muslim owned restaurant. The person who committed this theft obviously does not have any respect for Mohammed and is a little coward and a criminal. I enjoy the food at Al Ameer but I will never return to this restaurant.

Ive been there over 6 times in the past two years and I wasnt disappointed not even once. Very efficient waiters, not always amicable, but they check with you many times to see if everything is okay. Ive been always lucky to park in the last empty parking spot. Food has always been fresh, perfectly cooked and it comes fast. I understand that sometimes it isnt fresh and heated in the microwave but, luckily, it never occurred to me. The five star rating I give is based on my long experience in Lebanese restaurants around the world, knowing that I, myself, worked as a waiter in a Lebanese restaurant for ~5 years. Prices are more than reasonable, too. If Id recommend a plate thatd be the TABBOULI, FATTOUSH, & FRIED KEBBEH as a great appetizer for two, or even three or four!

I have been driving 1hour 30 min. To dine here for 15 years. I wanted to introduce my friend to what I thought was the best Lebanese food. I will not return. Its been three years since Ive eaten there, it has changed drastically. The restaurant was dirty, worn, the bathroom was disgusting. I let the waiter know I was sharing this experience with new person, he could care less....We received minimal service, and the place wasnt busy. The food was Ok, but kabobs were dry. We ordered appetizers, and a combo, salad etc., I wanted her to experience everything. We left a 20% tip, but I was embarrassed that we brought her. We can experience Lebanese food at many other places. I wont go back.

We were visiting detroit and walked into this restaurant based on someones recommendation. It was clean and we were greeted nicely at the entrance. We ordered four different dishes for 4 of us and ironically none of us liked the taste at all. It was the WORST Mediterranean food we ever had. All the dishes were too expensive for the quality. To top it up the server came across as a rude person and didnt show any interest in encouraging us to pick the right dishes. She was not even talking politely. Anyway none of us could finish or even were ate to eat half of our plates. STAY AWAY from this place if you really love med. food and know how good it tastes. Super bad experience!

Been eating here since it opened, looks like the longer they are in business the more they become careless and inconsistent. Many times the service is good and prompt and courteous, but you get that one time they tick you off so bad that you lose your appetite. I know you are tired and want to go home toward day end, but please give people what they pay for and get them out fast. I know you do not care but long term you will lose many loyal customers. I urge your management and owners to educate servers about the wonderful hospitality of the Arabic culture that produced the well balanced tasty cuisine. Offer people the good food and the kind hospitable serving environment.

Quick to get a table but waiter took some time to actually serve and service was slow in general. Good however was outstanding. Bread is fresh from the oven and hot. Served with hummus or baba ghanoush which you need to order separately. Meals are great in quantity, fresh in taste and served pretty quick. Personal preference is to get the Mediterranean chicken or the combo because you get to try everything. The salad is well made made with perfect amount of dressing. They also have a small little bakery which is worth trying. One of the best middle eastern restaurants among the tons of places in Dearborn. The management could definitely improve on the service though.

I stopped in here the other day to have lunch. It wasnt planned, I was just driving by and my friend and I said, "this looks like a nice place", so we stopped. Let me tell you, I have eaten at several Mid Eastern restaurants in the Detroit Metro area and nothing comes close to the quality of this place. I had the Chicken Shawarma with the rice and it was incredible. Moist, flavorful, not at all greasy. The salad was fresh and crisp, the fresh Pitas were piping hot, all blown up like little balloons fresh from the oven. The food was served very quickly, and the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend Al-Ameer!
