First time visiting on 1/29/2017. They had a late opening due to having run out of food the day before. Our party of 10 arrived at opening (5:30 PM) and was told there would be a one hour wait to be seated. Two hours later, we were finally seated... but not until 3 of our guests had to leave because we had been waiting so long. After waiting at our seats for 15 minutes we were still without a waitress and had not been given menus. I had to go back to the front to get the Hostess to get the ball rolling. One of the owners was there and got into a minor verbal altercation with me because I expressed that I was disappointed with the experience thus far. Anyhow, eventually a waitress appeared and took our drink and appetizer orders. Several drinks were not available, so some people had to make substitutions. The manager came over after that and offered to pay for our apps. A nice gesture and the right thing to do, but our experience didnt really improve after that. When the drinks finally arrived, several of them were wrong, but it was cleared up and our meal orders were placed. The apps arrived about 25 minutes after we ordered. Meals came about 20 minutes after that. Overall, the food was mediocre. Ive been to many, many BBQ restaurants both here in the north and in the south, and the quality was just not what I would expect for the prices on the menu. This was the consensus around the table. I felt bad for the people who ordered the steak tips. Oddly, there are only two options for them... medium rare and well done. the medium rare ones were practically still mooing and the well done ones were beyond well done and burned on the outside. At the end, the bill came and we split the table two ways. One half payed via Credit card and that went fine. The other half had a combination of money and a credit card. Their bill came to about $90. The waitress was instructed several times to put $30 on the card and take the rest of the bill and her tip out of the money on the table ($80). Instead, she put all $90 on the card and took the $80 as a tip (as my friend with the card shockingly discovered this morning). I had high hopes for this place as a new local option for me to eat. I guess Ill just have to keep waiting.

I wish I could separate the bar and the food for review as theyre completely different experiences. One decent, one terrible. Since theyre new Ill leave staffing out of this as I hope itll clear itself up over time. Bar - Decent selection of their brewed beer. Beer was alright, nothing I was absolutely craving to have again. Get a flight of 4 to sample their choices. Atmosphere is good, live music starts at 9 at a stage located close to the bar (if eating dinner cant see due to layout). The whole area is beverage service only, no food unless at the actual bar itself. Plenty of high top tables but found lack of standing room or places to rest your beer when these filled up. Restaurant - Had a 1h 15m wait. Finally seated in the back area which was quieter from the bar noise. Theres A LOT of things on the table that take up alot of room (seperate holder for salt/pepper, another for sauces, table water) we ended up moving this to the floor to have room for our app. Theres many options which look appealing on paper with their extensive menu, execution is where it failed. My wife ordered a burger, when asked how shed like it cooked was surprised to hear "medium" was not an option "We only do pink or cooked all the way thru" was the answer we got back. Pulled pork was extremely dry, steak tips were very chewy and lacked any char so I dont think they were grilled. Very under par meal for relatively higher prices. Would go back for social drinks, unless something changes would not go back for food at all.

I went to the BRBH with a group of friends for dinner on their second day of business. Once these guys work through the growing pains of operating the business, they will be a great addition to the local pub and restaurant scene. Our main issue was with spotty service. Seemed very chaotic, with multiple people trying to get our order filled. Took 45 minutes after being seated to get our first round of brews. Similarly long wait for the food, with one entree not arriving with the others. So until they get things worked out, be patient. On the positive side, their beer is very good. Lexington IPA is nicely balanced, not overly hopped. Porter was really a rich delicious chocolate and coffee affair. Straight ale was also nicely balanced, but I was not impressed with the Kolsch, which I dont typically drink anyway. So a limited selection right now, but more are promised as being on the way. Everyone had a very good meal. Pig sandwich was a hit, as were the two apps we tried, Hot Chips and poutine. Nice kick to the poutine. Burgers and dirty hotdog were also great, big portions and tasty. One miss was the Cobb salad, but it is mainly a BBQ place. Im going to wait a month or so so they can get things sorted out, but I am definitely heading back. Possibly when they have live music, which they are nicely set up for.

Excellent location with very good food and beer. The 1775 Tavern Ale is delicious with a malty after taste and good hop character. I also liked the stout and the Lexington IPA is bold but not overhopped. The Porter was also good, though it was a rather warm day. I imagine this will taste much better in the fall. I did not care for the farmhouse ale. The Gunpowder ale was ok, but it was too fruity for my taste with less focus on the malts. The food was very good. I was very happy to see so many other families with children at 5pm. They had high chairs and did not mind the kids running around while parents sipped. My daughter was happy to play with other kids. I enjoyed this vibe. There were plenty of other people without children, and the families cleared out by 7pm or so to make way for the Friday night crowd. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. They do not sell cans to go here. You have to go around the corner to Russells Convenience store to get a six pack. The prices there are rather steep (11 dollars for 6 pack of IPA), but the 1775 ale is cheaper. I spoke to the server and she said they are in the process of getting a better growler system and possible a crowler system. I will be happy when this happens as I very much enjoy the beer. I look forward to trying more styles as the seasons change.

My wife and I went to Battle Road shortly after it opened. It wasnt a perfect dining experience and we chalked it up to being new and still working the bugs out. However, we went again on Friday and fewer excuses can be made. One member ordered a burger and a flight of beers. The burger was fine but the Brew Master has confused making challenging beers with making good and drinkable beers. Another member of my party had the smoked kielbasa. It tasted like grocery store kielbasa and lacked either seasoning or a char that might have added flavor. I had the ribs, which were really jerky with bones in it. The ribs were fatally over cooked, painfully lean and no amount of sauce was going to improve matters. The cornbread that came with the ribs was also over done, to the point of crunchy. As a neighborhood restaurant, this place is off my list. Its much more of a "snack and brew after work" kind of place.
