A recent birthday lunch took me to Shade in the Heights. Shade has been a staple of this quaint area for several years, but this is the first visit where I tried their hamburger. For my birthday, several friends asked where I was having a burger to celebrate, so there was no question as to what would be the lunch choice. Shade offers their version - Grass Fed Black Hill Ranch Hamburger with lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles on a homemade bun. Taking off the tomato, as is my custom, spreading on a light dusting of mayo, I sunk my teeth into the first bite. While grass fed beef is usually a little leaner than I prefer, I was plesantly surprised at how juicy this cooked to medium patty tasted. The bubbling cheddar cheese melted evenly across the patty adding an additional burst of juiciness. The hamburger meat was thick and flavorful, if not a little salty. I would advise the chef to dial the salt notch down to ensure that the flavor of the meat remains the focal point of this burger experience. The accompanying fries were nothing more than the battered frozen variety with seasoning sprinkled on top. Even though this burger was nicely presented, I actually expected more from Shade, given their reputation for fresh and innovative offerings. While I am glad I made their burger a part of my birthday celebration, and I cheer Shade for keeping things local with Hill Country Beef, Ill return to their more insprired dishes on future visits.

We have been staying here at the Radisson for 3 weeks for work. We went in to Shade and I ordered the prime rib dip. We were the only cIustomers. The cook came out and whispered in the waiters ear when he got our order and the waiter told him to do what hes gotta do. Dont know what that was all about but the prime rib seemed like it was boiled or something and I found a hair in it when I opened it up to look closer at the meat. both my husband and I lost our appetite. Took 10 minutes to even find our waiter to tell him. I had to take my sandwich to the bartender and show her and she had to hunt him down. The waiter was rude asking me what the hair looked like as if I should have pulled it out and examined it. Have never been so turned off of a restaurant and we eat out every day.

If I could say the service was worse than one.... wait, I am. I hope you have 3 hours for a 1 hr dinner. No menu or bar knowledge around the board. Dont ask opinions. Pick something, hope it comes out correctly. If it does not. Dont expect an immediate solution. Its in the hotel, so thats a plus. Good luck. Take a $20 uber downtown and explore.

Priced are high. Horrible service. Waitress took forever to greet us. Never came back to our table to see how everything was. Never offered a refill on our drinks. Only time waitress spoke to us after we receive our food was to give us the check. Our next few days of stay at the hotel, we went out to eat. I will never go there again.

Terrible!!!!!!My 17th Anniversary, bartender who doesnt know how to make a grapefruit martini. A waitress who walks several times and makes no eye contact and no acknowledgement, its like we never existed. This is the worst dinning experience we ever had.

Poor service and terrible management as well as the fact that they serve minors alcohol Ive witnessed them do it multiple times they have half decent food thats way over priced and ok drinks avoid coming here as well as the rest of the hotel.

Food is great, service is excellent and the manager was very friendly and a made sure everyone was having a great experience. I have been coming here for a while now and havent had a single bad experience. Happy hour mon-fri is awesome!
