This place is not for everyone. They have a limited selection when it comes to normal home cooking. Most of their meals are spicy: they potatoes are ranch potatoes not regular, they do not have any American Cheese all are specialty cheeses.] My english muffin was burnt. I told them they did nothing about it. I did not realize that the omelet was made with other cheese and discovered that they had no American Cheese and not only that the cheese is melted on the top of the Omelet not inside. If you have dietary restrictions or are not into hot food then this is not the place for you. Price is above average as well.

Great food. Came quickly and did not disappoint. Fair price and friendly staff. I dont typically go out to eat alone but I was looking to kill a bit of time and grab a bite. Eating out alone can be awkward but the hostess sat me at a quiet spot, out of the way but towards the middle so I felt comfortable but not isolated. The waitress came to check on me just the right number of times (usually the wait staff wont leave me alone if I am eating alone). Everyone was very pleasant and kind. Will definitely be coming back when in the greater Portland area and hunting for breakfast.

Interior warm and comfortable. Easy access. Plenty of parking. Wait staff, with my experience, was excellent and friendly. Coffee was a pleasure. I appreciate the carafe of coffee versus the wait staff having to return to fill. Cinnamon-raisin French toast was delicious. Natural maple syrup for the asking...I do not recall if extra charge, but it is worth it not to have flavored corn syrup, which is common on the market. Seating is comfortable. Nice place to meet friends and family. I was there the last week in May, 2015. I will go back.

This place is sooooo overrated. Overpriced and small portions. Its a good quality of food. Lots of organic food. Been there twice. Very disappointed both time. Service is good and quick. My statement everytime I cant believe that im paying that much just for that.... But hey theres no competition around so that place runs very well anyway. People go anyway. Its the only decent non diner looking breakfast place in the area. Co yourself and your wallet a favor: go to south Portland or Portland for breakfast its really not that far.

Great brunch place, with quality ingredients and generous portion sizes. A solid step up from the chain breakfast restaurants. For breakfast, plan on around $10 a person for food, as menu options trend toward full-size meals rather than just light breakfast fare. We got raspberry pancakes, a veggie omelette and a berry oatmeal; all came out just right and were satisfying. Service was prompt and friendly! Outdoor seating is available during summer months.

We recently had the opportunity to have a breakfast at the Egg and I in Scarborough, Maine. It was the best breakfast we had in quite some time. Lobster omelet, crab cake Benedict, stuffed French toast delicious. They even had something for our granddaughter Belgium waffles. No words can express our experience at this restaurant, just delightful. Service great, establishment neat, clean and excellent food.

Food and service was very good. I love the fact that they leave a carafe of coffee for you so you dont have to wait for refills. Only problem I had was having to see the busboys underwear as his pants hung midway off his ass. Really! How about a dress code for your staff that pants be worn on the waist and your belt tight enough to keep them there. No one wants to see that especially when eating.

Food is good and servers friendly. Do not like their seating procedure. They had several empty, clean, set tables but did not seat people because of the number of servers they had. The waiting area was very crowded, including elderly and people waiting with babies. I would rather be seated and wait a little longer for service than stand in a crowded area.

The place was very clean and staff helpful. Room was updated and had all the normal amenities. Snack bar was awesome. Has chips, bars, teas, coffee, cup of noodle, and a few other things. Several cold drinks too. And its all free. Location is close driving distance to many restaurants and malls. No walking distance to almost anything though.

I have enjoyed about a dozen meals at The Egg & I and the food and service are consistently very good. My favorite dishes are Sunrise Chile Rellenos and the Veggie Benedict. They are usually busy but I have never had to wait for a table. Free coffee refills even on iced coffee and most dishes are $8-10. One of my favorite breakfast spots!

So excited that an Egg and I has opened up in Scarborough, Maine. I used to live in Colorado and The Egg and I was my favorite breakfast spot, but we don’t have one where I currently live. They have the best breakfast food and just a great place to eat. We have a trip coming up to Maine and I can’t wait to stop at the Egg & I!!!!

The food is on par for what I would expect for a breakfast dinner. Reasonable prices. I would say their sweet dishes are better than their savory dishes. They offer house coffee and a then some specialty organic/save the rainforest coffee for a small premium. Some people like that. Favorite dish: cinnamon french toast.

Love this place for breakfast. Service is usually prompt and the serving sizes are worth the price point. Does get busy on the weekends so I recommend sending someone in to get on the list. Food is always rich and delicious in taste, never bland like most breakfast places.

For a chain restaurant, breakfast was delicious. And this coming from 4 picky adults each of whom ordered different items and all were very pleased with their meals. Attentive and courteous staff and clean establishment. Well definitely be coming back.

Its a 50-50 shot here. The food is usually quite good but the service can sometimes be really lacking. Id say that out of 5 visits, two visits had downright bad service. Dont order the hazelnut coffee; its consistently bad. Pancakes are huge and tasty.

Food not very good, wait was long and loads of tables sat empty while the waiting room was packed and it was drizzling outside. Not worth the wait, not with the price (which is on the high side for breakfast...).

Nice breakfast, also serves lunch. Seems like their menu has a healthy focus. They dont have regular pancakes only wheat same with bread but that wasnt a problem. The staff was nice, the waitress ok.

This was the worst breakfast that my husband said he has ever had. The eggs were cold and hard the gravy was so spicy he couldnt eat it however mine was great! Just wanted to let you know. Thanks

The food was really good and definately had interesting choices. The atmosphere was not overwhelming and the staff was very friendly. Not really a "diner style" breakfast spot but still very good.

I have been by this place a lot, but finally went there with my 92 year old Dad and 9 year old son. It was great. The food was really good and the service excellent. I will definitely go back.
