My husband and I have been going here since they first opened. On the 21st of this month we went with my sister and our 3 children and 2 nephews and neice. The place was packed and we expected to wait a while. We were seated pretty quickly in a booth (try enjoying a meal crammed in booth seating with 6 kids). Just after my husband and two of the kids went to get food the waitress came up and said we needed to move because they accidentally gave someone elses table to us. I asked what she would like us to do about the 3 people who already went to get plates of food and she huffed off. I gathered us all up and was preparing to move when another waitress said we didnt have to move after all. In all the time we have been going there we have never been treated like that. The food was not as good as it usually is, and the staff seemed more annoyed than able to cope with a busy night. News flash guys...busy means you get more money! We got no appology from the wait staff about the incident. Needless to say we most likely will not be going back.

This place is awesome . I went there on sunday afternoon around 1 so the place was packed but not to the point of waiting forever to sit. There is a variety of food with hot food with your typical chinese, Mongolian style, sushi and dessert. Makoto doesnt have the variety of hot food like some other places but their offering of sushi was way better than most of the places Ive been to. There mustve been 20 different rolls with sashimi plate on the side. I am not a buffet guy especially sushi due to the food not being so fresh and being fishy but I have to admit it was better than Lot of the sushi houses we ate. Only down side was the crabs they were offering was all shells with no meat to speak of. I dont know if that was just the season or lunch or what but definitely disappointing. Overall the best all you can eat buffet where I wasnt regretting the decision to go eat at a buffet. I definitely recommmend it.

I was excited to try this place but was extremely disappointed. They had chinese, mongolian, and sushi. Every one of the varieties were far below standard than any single chinese, mongolian or sushi restaurant. The items at both the mongolian bar and chinese bar were extremely slow to restock. Waited for the beef to be refilled for a half hour seemed excessive. The hot & sour soup was empty the entire time. I took my family of 4 to meet my sister with her family of 4 there. We each had a payback coupon for our meals. We arrived separately, paid separately and left separately. But, since we sat at the same set of pushed together tables, they refused to allow us to use both coupons. This was my familys first time eating there and our last. There are far better restaurants for a much lower price.

This is more of an upscale buffet. We have eaten here twice. Once was late in the evening and once at 5pm right after they opened the doors. We didnt experience any problems like the other reviews of empty bins, old or not warm enough food, or food not being replaced. These seem like typical "buffet" problems that occur from time to time anywhere. One remedy would be to get there like we did right after they open. The food bins are fresh and full and hot. It feels like an upscale establishment with good variety and a hefty price tag to match. Almost $40 for two people but I think you pay that for the type of food they serve plus the sushi bar and Mongolian grill that is all inclusive in one price. I think its worth it if $16 a person plus tax and tip wont rattle your nerves.

Good food and nice servers, BUT I had a horrible experience on 2/14, I understand its a really busy day and I had a group of 9 people which everybody was very patient until a group of the same size arrived. It appeared to be a the assitant managers (david) friends because they came in and talked to him. By that time we had like an hour waiting to be seated. So he called the other group in first. We were upset because we had arrived first, and he only said there was nothing he could do about it, and started saying that they already had a reservation. Which it was a total lie, Ive had called that day to see if I could make a reservation and they said it was a first come first serve.

Well it was an experience, but Ill save you the time. Selection is wide, taste is unfortunate. Oddly enough it was busy, waited about 10 minutes to get seated, not bad. We got seated in the banquet room. A party just left so we waited for everyone to come and go before serving ourselves. A few minutes later the next party started pouring in. Ever been a third wheel? Well we were more like the 20th, so forget a conversation. We decided to stay a little longer for crab, it had been empty so far during our visit. Not good, so sour. Two stars for feeding me. The price would be reasonable at best if the quality was even just a little better.

Oh great buffet in the North, you have shown me the light. I was skeptical that I needed to travel to Vancouver for my buffet fix, but Makoto proved me wrong. From the sushi when you walk in to the crab legs there is something for everyone. I was floored when I saw the sashimi and while I have had better, I never seen sashimi at any other buffet. The food has been solid and varied. I love going here with friends. Desserts are about the only downside, but since that isnt the reason I go I did not take off a star. The tiramisu is passable and the ice cream alright, but dont go expecting anything amazing on the sweet side.

The worst Chinese buffet (yes, they called Japanese Buffet buy the truth is Chinese owned, operated and Chinese cooking) ever in the whole US. Dinner buffet price including seafood, but the cold water-soaked-little-meat crab legs was a ripoff, shrimps and squids are terrible, the sashimi is tuna-imitator, salmon and unknown fish are tasteless, sushi are fake with mostly crabmeat or cheap tasteless fish. We have dine with many Chinese Buffet from Minnesota to Texas to Las Vegas, but this Makoto is the worst. Again, this is Chinese owned & Chinese cooking at it worst, not Japanese restaurant!

The Best all you can eat Sushi I have come across so far. And mainly what I go for. I have reason to believe A good portion of the other items they have contain MSG which tends to make my household ill. as long as we stick to the sushi we remain ok. We also love the Miso soup, and cant get enough of the pickled ginger. Up until A few years ago I had never tried sushi. Mostly due to fear from conversation about it. And Makoto was my first experiance and so far remains the best. there have been a few runner ups. the evening is twice the cost as lunch, But either way... Worth the trip.
