It certainly amazing what can be done with a web page to show off a particular place. In this case the WonderView. It looks much nicer on the web then it does in person. The place is dated for something back in the 80s. When cleaning the room the cleaning lady refuses to leave an extra roll of paper. If your roll is 1/2 empty then too bad unless you go ask for more from the front desk. The office closes at 8PM for the night so dont wait too late to ask. On our first night we were hot as the AC was working less than well. it was hot outside but we should be able to expect a decent AC. I put in a request for maintenance to look at the AC on Monday AM and Wed. afternoon they showed up. WTF? We were leaving the next day so we said to disregard. We ate the Looking Glass the first night and it was good but nothing great. The AC was out in the place so they had doors open. This would have been fine but it was dark outside and the mosquitos were eating us up. Food was a little overpriced and the server, very nice, was very slow.

We have stayed at the Wonder View for many, many years -- in fact, my grandfather built the original motel! Its a lovely spot and the rooms are just fine. However, my grandfather would roll over in his grave if he knew how guests are treated there now! It is outrageous to advertise one thing on the web site and do just the opposite in real life. For example, if you need to cancel a reservation, you lose your entire deposit (not just the $25 fee), even if it is a month in advance! If you reserve a 2-bedroom suite with 3 beds, you will be charged $20 for each child, no matter his or her age! Most places will refund your deposit if canceled 14 days (some even 3 days) in advance and if you pay for a suite, you certainly shouldnt have to pay for your children, especially little ones! There are many nice places on the island that treat their guests kindly and with respect -- stay away from the Wonder View!

View... ehhhh... fog is crazy up here in bar harbour in the summer so unless its a clear day then there is not much of a view. Food... Baked brie app was very good as was some of the bread and the blueberry butter (2 rolls were rock hard... recycled??). I ordered the Lobster bisque which was excellent! As for the main course... just awful... My husband ordered the beef tenderloin and it was $32 of the most horrible beef we have ever ordered. I ordered the pork tenderloin and experienced the same... we mangaged to get through the meal with the roasted potatoes and mixed veges. Our server promptly fetched the manager when we complained about the beef and he did remove it from our bill. I thought the service was delightful but they clearly have a terrible chef!! Definately not worth the $100+ for this dinner... we wont return.

Mediocre food, half-decent service. We ate here twice, once at breakfast and once at dinner. For dinner I had the steak tips with mushroom ragout and roasted tomatoes. The plate did not feel properly composed, every piece was fine- I suppose, but it didnt feel like a coherent meal, and there was not really enough sauce to go with the steak. It also felt like it was difficult to get a refill on my water. Both at breakfast and during dinner. Breakfast was fine, but who can mess up a plate of eggs, toast, and sausage?

My friends and I visited the restaurant for drinks. The martinis we ordered were brown, so we sent them back. Next, we got what tasted like pure vermouth. We didnt send the drinks back a second time, but we did ask why we were charged $11. The manager said that was how much they cost. When I got home, I called to inquire about the cost of a martini and was told it is $7. Not only did they charge us nearly double, they also lied to us. Shame. If you go here, dont order a mixed drink. As for me, Ill never go back.

The food was terrible, no seasoning, cold, and overall DO NOT RECOMMEND. We ordered the crab dip appetizer with artichokes. It had huge pieces of artichokes very overwhelming. Then the crab cake which I order had so much corn meal in it, no seasoning and barely any crab. My wife ordered steak tips with gnocchi which was cold and seemed as though the gnocchi was cold. We asked to have the meals taken back, paid for the over prices appetizer and left. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Overpriced small portions. Limited selection. bread and view is good but I paid $38 for a lazy lobster which consisted of the meat from a 1-1/4 pound lobster and 2 small potatoes. by the way lobster is about $5 a pound in maine... Ripoff and nothing special about the service either. saw waitress only to take order and deliver check

Went there with my wife the view was great the service was terrible our waitress had little to no personality and you could that she would rather be some where else. The food was over priced and did not feature local seafood at all. Will not go back so many other great places in Bar Harbor.

The only thing to recommend about this restaurant is the beautiful view of Frenchman Bay, but even that wouldnt prompt us to go back. Both the food and service were bad. Weve gone to Bar Harbor nearly every summer since the early 90s and this is perhaps the worst place weve dined at.

The best view. I had the grilled seafood platter it was superb. My wife had the surf and turf she said it was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The manager and the general manager went to every table to thank guests. We were wowed. We will return

Went last summer, will go back. Best restaurant view on the Island, fire pit, great atmosphere. Delicious food, especially if youre vegan, gluten free or vegetarian, fresh from their own garden!
