This place is nothing more than a diner, really. I know its hyped, and the 40 minute wait on the sidewalk at 10:30 AM on a Tuesday says that somebody likes it, or maybe all were led by the ratings to give it a try, but I was underwhelmed at best. I ordered a Lobster omelette (yep, Im a tourist). But it was disappointing - the same as I would get from any mass-market omelette station at a hotel, compact and folded, with some stuff inside (including average lobster). The toast was dry and not buttered. The breakfast potatoes were ordinary at best, and it was overpriced for what I received (and Im familiar with the upcharge lobster brings). The prized blueberry pancakes that has raves in the reviews were legitimately blueish, with additional berries within, but they were flavorless and mealy. There was no art or passion in the kitchen, which to me, says "diner". The baked beans were good, however. Other reviewers claimed that you get a whole lobster in your omelette - absolutely false. Another reviewer claimed it was a "homemade IHOP" and proceeded to give it 5 stars. To me IHOP is a franchise diner, and not something to be compared to favorably. 5 stars is mind-boggling. If you go into Jeannies with the expectation that its just a diner (or a homemade IHOP, which is apt), then the mercurial and distracted waitstaff, the do-it-yourself coffee, the pay-at-the-counter, and the slap-dash of plates sliding onto your table make sense (although its pretty expensive for a diner). But its not a special atmosphere, and you can do better elsewhere in town, perhaps without as long a wait. I have no idea how it got a 4.6 in the Google reviews. Google ratings did me a disservice that day.

I ordered breakfast skillet and what I was served was eggs with tons of cold shredded cheese dumpedal on top. The cold cheese made my eggs cold and it wasnt very enjoyable. The food looked like it was prepared in a rush because my to toust was burnt. Our waitress was not very friendly and forgot about us. We sat there for almost 15 minutes waiting for our order to be taken, only when I flagged her down did she come to take out order. The waitress dropped our food and for the secone time I had to flag her down to ask for the check. She never checked on us during our meal, my partner was not offered another drink. We were not offered any kind of customer service, never asked if we needed anything. I truly believe that if this restaurant was not in the center of town it would not be a success. Since its right in town its convenient but its not worth the the money!!!

Its called, Great Maine Breakfast, but it should be named the best breakfast in all of Maine. My wife and I try to stop here at least once a visit ( I try to cook most meals of the campsite), but this place has such amazing food that it would be crazy to not stop here to eat. The pancakes are a favourite of ours, however we usually get a pancake dish and another breakfast selection to split. We have never left here dissatisfied, or not feeling full. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. They sell jams here as well that I recommend buying to bring home. It can be very busy here in high tourist times, and they call out your name as table availability comes up, but it is worth the wait. Alternatively they are open early, so you could arrive before the big crowds get to the town.

Almost hate to review here because it will be more crowded next time I try to go! Come to the national park 1-2 times a year, always stop in here at least once for breakfast each trip. Like the no cell phone policy. See the same staff year in year out, always friendly and helpful, even when very busy (this place gets BUSY during tourist season). Cant recall ever ordering anything I didnt like here, always stick to the breakfast menu. I try to get in here early to beat the crowd and to fill up a little before a long hike. Have to give an extra shout out to the staff that saw our dog waiting in the car for us last time and, after asking, went out to give him some bacon. Happy customers + happy pet= win. If youre in town and need breakfast, go here.

This place is pretty good. My girlfriend and I were up insanely early for some reason I forget, but Jeannies was open. The owner and staff are EXTREMELY friendly, they are very real and I think they contribute to the places atmosphere. The location is bright and clean. I had the lumberjack breakfast, its was HUGE. I was stuffed by the end of it. The blueberry pancakes are good, not mind blowing, but enjoyable and standard for the island. Overall the food was good, not great, but good. For the price, I left feeling I had gotten a good value. I believe the owner said the spreads on the table were homemade, they were quite tasty as well. If youre on the island, its definitely worth checking out.

Dont get the lobster omelet. Very basic, very dry and not worth the $20. All they did was wrap some eggs around some lobster and added a little cream sauce on top. They did add something special to the potatoes which otherwise were very simple. I found a foot long blonde hair mixed in with potatoes. The waitress had no idea how it got there. She initially asked me if I wanted another order of potatoes which I refused. I eventually got my coffee and juice comped. How this diner got such a great rating is beyond me. Maybe its the best Bar Harbor can offer.

Awesome breakfast. THE place to be well fed and well served. Yes, theres often a wait, while restaurants within 100 have open tables. Dont worry. Just chill. Its worth it. Susan and her husband do a great job making sure youre welcomed and the food is wholesome, well prepared and served quickly. Highly recommend the blueberry pancakes, the omelettes are all very good, you cant go wrong. Always get the cinnamon raisin bread. The strawberry rhubarb jam is perfection. Ive tried them all in town, and this is by far the best of the best.

This place was so yummarific Im still thinking about it. The oat bread toast with the strawberry rhubarb spread they have on the table is reason enough alone to go, but my very smart husband ordered the blueberry very berry pancakes and they were amazing! I ordered the Down East Eyeopener and it too was so delicious. This place will make a breakfast person of you if you are not one, and I was not one. Now, Im wishing Id bought a jar of that spread! Regrets...You wont have them. Go. Eat. Jeannies. Yum.

There is always a line, but it is worth the wait We went here on our penultimate day in Bar Habor and got the Great Maine Breakfast. Everything was delicious but the blueberry pancakes were amazing. It was so good, we woke up early and came in the next morning before our drive back home. And there was still a wait at 7am! Staff is super friendly and this may have been one of the best meals on our trip. I highly recommend coming one morning if youre in town.
