Those fried green tomatoes? Total mouthgasm. I was given the opportunity to retry Hot Suppa! and I have to admit that I was far more impressed than I was the first time I went. Our waiter was very pleasant - he made the perfect amount of small talk without being invasive; and was attentive without being disruptive. Our meals were filling and tasty, although TREMENDOUSLY underseasoned. I am, however, always impressed when a restaurant can make falafel moist and not so dry it chokes you; Hot Suppa! did an exceptional job at that. Did I mention the fried green tomatoes were sex on a plate? My biggest regret was not getting a bloody mary . . . I openly stared at the people around me who had one wishing I my parents had raised me to be a ninja so I could stealthily steal theirs. I still have two MAJOR concerns, though: 1.) As a vegetarian there is very, very little on the menu that I can order (as in: if I come back here, Id have to get the same thing again). And that’s tremendously disappointing. You would think in town like Portland, ME they might try to extend their menu to folks of all dietary restrictions. And, 2.) The wait for a table is the worst in town. It has to be. Every time Ive walked by theres been a line. Ive come to eat and have promptly left before because that line was so intimidating. If theyre doing as well as they seem to be doing, why wouldnt they expand? Or at least create more tables to sit at? For all that, though, it was still a great lunch experience. I walked away feeling full, but not grossly stuffed. And there were flavors that will linger with me for years to come . . . As in: you can betcha Ill be back again soon for a bloody mary and some fried green tomatoes some Sunday morning. I’ll be the girl with the “O” face.

When people come to visit Portland, ME they want to experience why its called one of Americas foodiest small cities. So when friends of mine ask me to recommend my favorite spot - this is it. Heres the jist. Nestled on Congress Streets west-end neighborhood in a classic brick brownstone, this Cajun influenced firecracker invites you in with the smells of smoked pork and delicious tasty bacon. Inside, the worlds smallest restaurant. Expect a wait - especially on the weekend. Tip for newcomers? Drop your name, take a walk to CBD and grab an espresso. By the time youre back, the host will seat you. Its small. On purpose. Funky art decorates the walls, with a tall ceiling and loud ambiance. Expect curt, friendly waitstaff to get your order quick...but not without a friendly demeanor. The drinks are decent from a small bar. Excellent mimosas, even better with an extra vodka kicker. The big specials board changes often, with something for just about everyone. My favorite dish? Eggs Benedict with pulled pork and friend green tomatoes. Good lord, I cant get enough! Whatever your favorite, just know that its the atmosphere that locks this place in for the win. Theres just something about it that makes you want to keep coming back for more. Perfect stop for out-of-towners looking for a delicious and fun brunch experience. Family-friendly, too. Hot Suppa! rocks my world!

Went there on a Saturday morning for brunch. Be ware, there will be a wait, although the wait for me wasnt that bad, maybe about 20 minutes. The service from the server and the reception desk was 5 stars. No doubt about that. They were friendly and accommodating. While the service was really great, I feel that the food was a little underwhelming. The omelette I got felt like the eggs were from a mix instead of fresh eggs. The hash browns were oily and really mediocre. And the dish I got was not hot (it was luke warm and borderline cold). The food was not bad, but just mediocre. Not really worth the wait, unfortunately.

Tip: Get there early if you want to get on -street parking and also avoid a wait- but its also well worth a wait. The maple latte was like liquid euphoria, their hash is to die for (with real corned beef, not the alpo looking canned hash that most places serve), everything is cooked and prepared to absolute perfection from the eggs to the home fries to the toast. I dont know what they put in their butter but Im pretty sure its magic. Even my toddler who insists on his food being unadulterated was dipping his waffle in the whipped butter! We will definitely be going back the next time were in the area.

I go to this place almost every Sat. morning due to their super awesome hash. It is hands down the best I have ever had period. As for the rest of the menu its pretty good as well. The Cubano they have is right up there with the hash for me. As for dinner, the brisket and slow cooked pork are always great picks. The beer menu is a bit limited but they have some good standard micro-brews. Service has always been prompt and welcoming but I cant help but wish the place was a tad bigger. Make sure to get there early if you want breakfast. There is less of a wait around dinner time though.

This was my first time visiting Hot Suppa. I had heard great things, and I wasnt disappointed. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with hash browns. Hands down, the best corned beef hash Ive had in Portland. Crispy crust, with a tender and flavorful center. Very hearty portions. (I couldnt finish everything) It reminded me of when my mom would turn left over pot roast into hash. The hash browns were top notch as well. Great service and the price was reasonable. Tight quarters at the bar, but all and all a great experience. Looking forward to my next visit.

Hot Suppa offers tasty food at rock bottom prices! They are very consistent and offer a variety of classic and creative breakfast and lunch choices. We LOVE the Fried Green Tomatoes- so crispy! Their waffles are also excellent; very light and fluffy. Shredded home fries are also good; crispy and light! The only downside is it is VERY small, so make sure to get there either early or after the 9-11 am breakfast rush. If not, you will be waiting about 45 minutes for a table. Parties of 4 or more are hard to fit, but its perfect for 2!

Awesome food ! No parking ! We had breakfast, home made corned beef hash with eggs, and hash browns were cooked to perfection. Grits were great too! Every part of the meal from coffee and tea to the marble rye toast was tasty and spot on. This meal was made with love. This is not a greasy spoon! Its an upscale urban eatery that deserves a great review. To bad we found it on the last day of our trip. Nice patio out back. Only downside was street parking only that was metered. Street parking Didnt matter after the meal.

Seriously the best corned beef hash I have had to date. Respectfully handled my food allergy. Very good gluten free cornbread, wish they sold this by the loaf though!!!!!! Long wait most times relating to small seating area. They have locks on the bathrooms so those from the community/public/ or homeless will not use them. I thought this was disrespectful and overkill, also a pretty good way to get your wall urinated on. Alas, I dont have to clean the bathrooms though, they give the codes to customers upon request.
