omg, omi! if you want the real deal, this is the place. this is more authentic and not americanized. true Sichuan pepper dishes like Chong Qing chicken are amazing! the sauces are absolutely fantastic and unique per dish. and not all dishes require sauce. the Sichuan pepper is not particularly hot nor is it in the same category as jalapeño, habanero or ghost peppers. it is a little spicy and used more for flavoring than to make something hot. although i would not recommend consuming the pepper, it does make for a nice condiment when minced and used for dipping. the wide variety of standard and exotic menu selections will keep you coming back for more, if only to just to stretch the boundaries of ones palate. your food is also presented beautifully with great service. oftentimes, the chef exits the kitchen to show his smiling face and visit with customers. he is very personable. there are also entrées that are not on the menu which he will make if you request, such as general tsos chicken. omi is truly a unique and valuable addition to baton rouges restaurants and i guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Another Chinese restaurant, with a Japanese name that serves Chinese and Japanese cuisines, owned my Chinese people. Can get a tad confusing. Im all about authentic cuisines and not fusion... We got takeout tonight. We ordered 4 dishes that yelpers recommended. Slow cooked pork belly with pickled veggies. Pork belly was melt in your mouth tender, but we didnt care for the taste and could hardly taste the pickled veggies. Theres plenty of it, but the other flavors were overpowering the pickled veggies. The calamari was bland, I think they forgot to slightly salt it. Batter had no taste and I cant believe we just ordered it and it was soggy. Not sure if they rushed it because they were getting ready to close. Spicy ribs were just that, spicy. In terms of flavor, there was none. Hardly had any taste, I just ate it by itself without rice. I did like the texture and cook on it. I think the best thing we ordered was the steamed flounder. It was light, but still a tad oily. It needed more ginger. Weve had these dishes at other Chinese restaurants in Cali, Texas, Nashville and New Orleans so Im comparing it to that.

The food was very poor. The hibatchi had zero taste. The sushi was very good though. The atmosphere was terrible. The manager was doing sake shots with a group of college kids and screaming with them. Normally I woukd not mind so much but the whole crew was banging the table standing up and jumping tuen sitting down. Normally again this would not be an issue until about the 10th time my chair was jolted while trying to eat to the point I dropped my food. Very unprofessional to say the least. Eat the sushi only. The hibatchi is the worst I have ever had and I have patronized over 100 hibatchi restaurants consevatively.

This place has amazing authentic Sichuan Chinese food. I recently moved to another state and I can say that this is the place I miss the most. Tips: Stick to their Chinese food menu. Omi has really, really amazing Chinese food. If you are looking for hibachi, I recommend going elsewhere. They also have a specials menu which is really good. Make sure to ask them about it when you go in. Favorite dishes: Crispy fried pork Grilled Eggplant (ask for it old style. Its not technically grilled, but it is delicious) Pickled Napa Fish Kung Pao Chicken Chinese Spicy Chicken Stir fried beef flat noodles Cumin Lamb

We really enjoyed this resturant. The sushi was very fresh and brought to the table as soon as each roll was ready. The Chinese menu was somewhat daunting with many truly traditional dishes but more than enough Americanized offerings for just about any palette. The Google directions from the interstate were a little hard to follow. There is road divider preventing turning left where they suggested, and a no u-turn sign at the next light. Just follow the side road back around behind the other businesses and you will reach Omi on your right. Definitely worth the weird navigation.

Only reason why there is this star is because I had to click on it. Im being POLITE with what I am about to say. I never write reviews but this place was so bad I had to write one. The food was almost as dull as our waitress. Dont even waste your time or your money here. We ordered the chicken pot, sushi, and omi Pork pot. Absolutely horrible. My dogs probably wouldnt eat this food. Im surprised they are even open. The sad part is, Im not a hard person to please when it comes to food. To say the least, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This place is legit! We move to Baton Rouge 3 yrs ago from Texas where we had several authentic Chinese food places to choose from. Before Omi opened, the Chinese food was definitely subpar and limited to fast food style. Thankfully Omi saved the day. Our favorite is the hot and sour soup, kung pao chicken, and sweet and sour pork. Very standard stuff at other restaurants but theirs is on a different level of flavor and quality. We order it from the hospital for long night shifts all the time and it is the highlight of the night.

Combination Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar as well as authentic Chinese cuisine.. The food is phenomenal, and I had the best crunchy role I have ever had in my life and I usually eat raw. The managers and owner are all really good people and you feel like you are truly welcome eating there! Its definitely a spot that more people need to hear about as its a new business that took over the location Wasabi. This is sure to become a Baton Rouge favorite! Worth checking out and returning to.

Photos are deceiving. You walk into a small, wood-paneled place thats a bit creepy honestly, where you are led to a back room that kind of looks like a plain church rec room with several tables set up... So ambiance isnt big here, however they do have traditional Chinese food (Shanghai/Hong Kong) and sake at great prices. Their sushi was not fantastic and the experience was a bit strange so we wont be back but it isnt the worst place we have tried thus far.

My experience was pretty terrible, which was surprising since I had heard good things. An appetizer I ordered did not come until after the main course arrived, at which point I declined it. The sashimi I ordered was definitely not fresh. It was obvious it had been frozen, thawed, and then hit with a torch. The color and texture was off. It had burnt edges, and a bad flavor. The sushi rolls were sub par at best. I will not be returning.

Garlic sauce eggplant is good, but the service isnt very accomodating. We ordered Kung Pao vegetables without chicken and we still got charged for chicken. We also ordered tempura vegetables that came out burnt, and they wouldnt take them back and they still charged us. We asked about the charges and the waitress basically said "tough luck". They should let customers know that they wont do refunds on bad food.

Ive been here twice and had great experiences both times. I dont think you can order anything bad off the chinese menu. I havent tried their sushi, as the chinese food is really the star here. The staff has been really nice both times, very welcoming. The prices are really reasonable. Its one of the few places in BR I can take my wife out for dinner for less than $30.
