Poor experience on New Years Eve. Where to begin......We called a week ahead of time to get reservations for nine and spoke with a woman. We were told it was OK and that they had our reservations down. When we showed up the night of, they had no record of our reservation. We spoke to two other groups that came in after we did and they also had the same problem. We also spoke with one man who came in at 5:30 and was told it would be a 15 minute wait. 1 hour and 40 minutes later he was finally seated. Then we asked for the owner but she would not come to the front and speak to us but instead just let the two hostesses get blasted by customer after customer for not having the reservations. They made us move from the front waiting area and told us we could wait in the bar. Only problem with that.....No Bartender and no way to even get a drink while we waited. We had to wait a hour after the reservation and finally got seated. The food was average at best and the cook was rushing so fast the food was not done and we had to ask for it to be put back on the grill to finish cooking. They didnt bring out the steak for a member of our party and were just going to sneak that by us until we insisted that they give us our whole order. Overall this was a poorly run business. There were no bartenders at either of the two bars and obviously not enough cooks for the amount of customers coming in on such a busy night. I was ashamed of the owner for not stepping up to help hostess . She opted to hide in the back instead. As a business owner myself it really irritates me when an owner doesnt do their job and instead puts their employees in the firing line and hides in the back. When the check came out they had put on an automatic 18% gratuity which I was not happy about but felt too bad for the waitress who inherrited the situation to not pay it. Overall I would give this no stars if possible but since one is the lowest rating I will go with that.

Izumi was one of mine and my wifes favorite restaurants to go to about 2-3 times a month. However the last two times we have been was horrible. The first time we brought a large group of people in (about 10 people) we waited 2 and half hour then the cooked showed up, but couldnt start because someone forgot to turn the grill on and it would be another 30 minutes before it would have been warm so we decided to leave. They gave us gift cards to come back so we decided to give them another shot about a month later (yesterday) because we had loved it in the past. We walked in and there were two other tables full so they sat us at an empty table. We got our drinks and apps and were waiting and noticed there was only one cook. We waited 45 mins to an hour and then they put another couple at our table even thought we had already had drinks and apps then rushed them to order so they could cook for the whole table. An hour and half goes by then the cook finally shows up and starts, at this point my wife was upset because we have our baby with us and it was taking a long time because they wanted to wait to fill our table which is bs. We talked to the manager and told her we were upset about it and that we were ready to leave and it took another 15 to 20 mins to even get our check. Meanwhile the manager offered nothing to us as far as a discount or any remorse she said sorry we only have one cook tonight. How can you run a hibachi grill with only one cook and at this point it was us and one other table they were not slammed at all? When we left the restaurant was empty and they are obviously struggling for business and good employees. We will never come back here again, I own my own business and Im huge on serves this place has no clue how to keep their customers happy.

I came in at 8pm to order carryout. No one even acknowledged my presence for a good 10 minutes. When the hostess finally got to me I ordered a salmon skin roll and crab salad to go saying that I would go to the grocery store and come back to get it. An hour later I came back and she looked stunned to see me saying that she had given my order to your husband... She repeated my order. Some teriyaki business. I corrected her and told her I did not have time to wait for them to make it now. ooooh no no she says... it will be ready quick! My biggest mistake was waiting the 15 min for my food. The crab salad was like nothing Ive seen called crab salad. It was essentially fake crab shredded up with some spicy orange stuff?? Both the salad and the salmon skin roll (which had fish bones in it... bleck!) were too salty and too sweet at the same time. The roll fell apart while eating it. The only pluses I can give are that the place was beautiful the food was cheap (but tasted so) and that I received a free green beans tempura for the mix up. I hope this was just a bad night for them but I wont be going back to find out!

Top quality sushi and sashimi served in a nice atmosphere with good service and friendly staff. Ive been there several times, and I have always had a good experience. It sometimes takes a little while for them to make your sushi, but the wait isnt unreasonably long and it is most definitely worth it given the quality, taste, and presentation of your meal. Their side salad is small by American standards, but it is the same size most Japanese restaurants serve and it has a very delicious dressing. Everything Ive ordered has been wonderful, and I particularly like their spicy tuna roll. The sashimi has the best texture and taste of any Ive had, and the nori they use in the sushi doesnt overpower the taste of the filling and has a wonderful texture. I want to try the teppanyaki, but its hard to leave any room for it when the sushi and sashimi are so satisfying. For about $30, two people can eat a good amount. A very good value for the money.

Took my daughter (9) out for her first sushi experience. She, of course, ordered chicken teriyaki. My first gripe was that they didnt have a childrens menu, or even a reduced portion size. The food took a long time to arrive, and my daughter was nearly done with her dinner before my sushi arrived. The server was very nice, acknowledged - twice - that the kitchen was slow, and apologized when she delivered the check. The chicken teriyaki was pretty tasty, and it came with salad, miso (not up to snuff) and a large side of steamed vegetables. Way too much food for a 9-year old, but an ample portion for a hungry adult. My sushi was OK. The roll was sliced too thin such that the pieces began to fall apart in the soy sauce. Part of the problem was I ordered something I wouldnt have normally, in hopes of enticing my daughter to try some sushi (didnt work). Worth giving them another shot, but I am not a die-hard fan with this one visit.
