Best sushi in Pittsburgh, hands down. The staff is like a big family and are treated well by the owner which seems to greatly effect their happiness as Ive been their over 100 times and have never had bad service (70% of those times were take-out however). Frank the owner is also super nice and often converses with customers but without being intrusive or disruptive to your diner. He personally oversees the waitresses, cooks, and sushi chefs ensuring in the best dining experience every time! Ive never -not- seen him there. As for the food - amazing. The fish is super fresh and very well cut. Prices arent even bad considering the quality. Their Spicy Scallop Hand-roll is my absolute favorite, they make it like no other - definitely try this! Ive been living in San Francisco for half a year now and I cannot find sushi as good as Little Tokyos without paying 3-4 times as much.

October, 2014 So happy to say that weve been there twice with fabulous service - even with small kids and a larger group they were extremely attentive, the food was excellent, and we had so really good dishes (sushi and non) that will make us go back. So yes, try it, its wonderful! August, 2013 We so wanted to like it! We read the reviews, it was not too far, and so we went out to enjoy our anniversary. Got some green tea, good....got some clarification on the menu (there are no descriptions next to the rolls)...got our order marked and ready...then waited....and waited....and waited...I lost track of how many times the waitress walked past us.....I started watching the clock....then after over 45 minutes we got up and left. The food might be good, who knows? Wish we had the chance to find out.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The sushi is invariably fresh and the "serving sizes" are big -- in other words you get what you pay for given that sushi is not cheap. There are nice touches like the hot moist towels you get the minute you sit down. Very friendly staff -- both the "wait staff" and the sushi chefs. My biggest issues with the place are: incredibly crowded on Fri. and Sat. evenings; extremely noisy (especially at those times); and on top of all that, they insist on playing this kind of Rat Pack/lounge music, anachronistic to say the least. So you kind of have to work your way through the chaos, but once you do you will be amply rewarded.

Little Tokyo is a nice Japanese and sushi restaurant. It is somewhat pricey, but the food is really good! I usually get sushi. They have some sushi combos (with assorted sushi), and/or you can order a la carte with the provided order sheet and pencil, choosing amounts of various types of sushi and sushi rolls (any of their sushi rolls can also be ordered as a hand roll (which is a cone made of seaweed, filled with rice and fish); to order a hand roll, you need to tell the server when youre ordering, as opposed to writing it on the a la carte form). I would say 5-stars (for service and food quality), but the price brings it down to 4-stars.

Ive been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. Im always greeted by the owners warm smile and feel at home when Im seated and served. The fish they serve is so fresh it astounds me. I have never left this restaurant feeling displeased with any aspect of its offerings: service, quality of food or location. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance as well, which is why youll oftentimes hear several birthday celebrations in one evening. Ive spent several of my birthdays at Little Tokyo - its my favorite sushi place in Pittsburgh.

My girlfriend and I have been here several times, the food is great but the service is not. Every single waitress that we had was extremely rude and hesitant to do things for us. Im not sure if people just dont take us seriously because we are 18 or because we are a gay couple. Either way I was appalled by this behavior. I do not like being treated differently because of my relationship status. Everyone deserves to be treated equally and if I am treated any less than anyone else then I cannot come here anymore.

they try to push liquor on you every chance they get. the sushi was subpar and got over charged for the bill..the habachi was the worst Ive had in my life. The rice was oily and tasted only of black pepper. the chicken was bland and tasted almost as if it were spoiled. I will say that the server was very polite. but again, she tried several times to serve us liquor after we had already advised her that we didnt want any. not worth the money or time will not recommend to a dog!

I compare Little Tokyo to the place where the chief cooks the food in front of you, my absolute favorite since I was a kid. Little Tokyo has a similar if not the same menu, with the onion soup and the awesome salad dressing. Excellent food at a fraction of the price. No, they dont cook the food in front of you but if you crane your neck you can see the chief working in the kitchen.

Mediocre sushi at best. The cold rolls were not cold... they were warm. The ginger dressing on their salad is like a sour salt lick. The only thing this place has in its favor is nice waitresses and ambiance. If you are looking for limited and mediocre sushi choices this place is for you... if you want decent food with your nice service and ambiance find another restaurant.

I have tried most Sushi restaurants in the area. This place blows all of the big name places away. Sushi Kim not even close Nakoma not in the same league. Service is awesome, the owner walks around making sure all is well. Food is always fresh, ginger dressing outstanding, salad always crispy, Sushi always perfect. In a nutshell this is Pittsburghs best!

Little Tokyo has the freshest fish of any sushi restaurant I have been to. The staff are very friendly and the food never disappointed me. I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and the owner, Frank is a very nice guy. If you are in town looking for a great sushi meal, come here!

We are repeat customers. The sushi is great, and so is the service. And yes, the black marlin is fantastic. I have never had any of the hibachi style dishes, as I am not a fan of those to begin with. But the udon is very good. I had udon on Oahu, and this is comparable.

My boyfriend and I eat here at least once week. We get sushi to go all the time. Absolutely the best sushi in the South hills. We often split the little conquerer. Great service and food, never a disappointment. Hands down one of my top 3 favorite restaurants.

Still my favorite sushi joint in the area, always top notch fish, never any strange rolls, less rice / more fish then most of the other places in the burgh. Service is always good. Dont forget your fried ice cream to split when it comes time for the dessert!

Love this place, there sushi is spectacular, service is authentic Japanese, atmosphere is very pleasant. Indoors is well lit and some of the Japanese women that work here are drop dead gorgeous :-) Park across the street in the garage, they validate!
