Great food, however, I did discover a hair in my rice, only after we were done and I was boxing up leftovers. They did not offer to comp one of the meals or the appetizer for this, which was a dissapointment as its customary to do so when one finds a hair. :-( The restaurant is neat and clean in appearance. Staff is very friendly and kept the beverages full. Agree with other reviewers here, they took a very long time to take our order and it took a long time for food to come out. Butter Chicken is excellent, the Chicken Tikka Masala, however, did not resemble any that Ive eaten before...it was much more yellow and tasted like Chicken Korma. The appetizer Gobi Manchurian is outstanding. Again, great food, just a few opportunities for improvement.

I have tried persis for 2-3 times. They take a long time in seating.(every time we visited there in a group of 6-7 people). Also service is very slow. They should work on that ASAP. We have ordered gobhi manchurian as starter - in which tomato sauce was overpowering the dish. Then we have ordered malai kofta and Kadhai Paneer. Malai kofta was scrumptious. But Kadhai Paneer was pathetic with some watery gravy. We also ordered Veg Biryani. I dont understand why they garnished it with boiled egg. I mean if they are serving an Indian food, and that too veg. Then they should know in India if we had ordered veg food then it has to be veg HINDU food. BIG NO TO EGG. That was quiet disgusting to me. Raita served with biryani was also very little in quantity. :(

One of the top Indian restaurants in Iowa! Check out their Butter Chicken (especially for Americans afraid of spicy food) and Mango Lassi (sweet drink which is heavenly- as much as imagining Emma Stone riding me)! Not that they are unfriendly or hostile to others, but if as an Indian I walked in at the same time as a group of Americans, I can bet my butt they will be seated and served first. So more than American-friendly...... The food is awesome and ambience is good- authentic Indian food and music! Butter Chicken, Mango Lassi, Chicken 65, Chicken Biryani (spicy) are some must-try items

This is the best Indian food in Des Moines! I have eaten here several times (with and without my 4 young children) and the food has been wonderful each and every time. They are very helpful if you are novice to Indian and need a little help ordering. It is a family friendly place and is reasonably priced. If you havent already, do yourself a favor and check this place out! You will not be disappointed.

The food is wonderful. Unfortunately it will never come in a timely manner. In fact, nothing does. The service is terrible. If you know someone working however, your service will be great and will most likely get your food before everyone else including those already sat and ordered. It is very unfortunate. If the service would be better it would be a spectacular place to eat.

Everything was so........... good and specially mango lassi, I really enjoyed it. Dont know if I will ever get chance to go there again because we were just passing from Des Moines to go more further in US. Also customer service was AWESOME!!!!!!!

Worst front desk service I ever had in my life. Front desk guy is very rude with customers even complaining to his owner he is also not respective with coustomers. They are feeling like serving food for free. Dont go dont go.... I have given one star rating because there is no option to choose zero rating or negative.

Good Indian restaurant. Highly recommend the gobi manchurian appetiser, an Indo Chinese fusion dish. The malai chicken was extremely succulent and tender, really enjoyed and recommend this dish, along with their naan. Service was quick and staff were friendly and attentive, I am looking forward to my next visit!

My girlfriend had never tried Indian cuisine so I found the place with the best Google reviews and went. They did not offer a buffet like they advertise, dinner prices at lunch? The picture of their samosas shows an order of 3 but you only get 2. Never asked us for a spice level, gave us Medium. Not my day I guess.

I enjoy spicy American food but Im definitely a "medium" here. Everyone was very helpful in recommending menu items. Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan left me more than satisfied. My husband loved the lamb pasanda. I wouldnt eat here if I were in a hurry, but I will definitely be back!

I love this place. We had Persis cater a small get together, the food was amazing. We had the Chicken biryani, Malai Kofta and Chicken 65. All the guests were so happy with the food. Everything there is always so good and they are reasonable in prices and give more quantity than expected.

Ive tried Persis 3-4 times so far. Their food is really good, some of the best Indian in Des Moines. For some reason, they seat you and then there is a long wait before they come around and realize they have not given you a menu, odd. So go with plenty of time.

Ive stopped in to Persis Biryani Indian Grill a few times now, and have always enjoyed the food. The staff is friendly and helpful, and its a casual environment. There is usually enough food that I can take leftovers home for lunch the next day.

Fantastic curry. Every time I stop at a great Indian place like this I wish Id stop more often. Update - had the Tikki Masala and my wife had the butter chicken on our return trip. Everyone, including my 15 month old daughter, loved them all.

The food is well prepared; so, they take time. No complaints on food. Their mutton Shuka is excellent..!! Go for the food not for the ambiance.!! Tables are very closely placed and the place can get noisy. Not ideal for date nights.!!

I had a lamb dish that the staff recomended, and it is one of the best things I have had in a long time! It was balanced and very savoury as well as spicy. I can not say enough! Top shelf Indian food has finally come to Iowa!
