Ive been here 4 times since moving to Philly to give the place an honest shot because I liked the ambiance so much. Ill say, the service has been consistently slow. My feedback to servers and bartenders would be, this is *not* France. :) Ive found the wait times frustrating every visit. The food is consistently underwhelming; I have been disappointed from everything Ive ordered here. The escargot was excessively salty on my first visit (inedible), the chicken hash and croque madame brunch options were both disappointing, the happy hour drink specials were nothing impressive. I recall the burger being quite ordinary and overall this place is overpriced. I will not be returning.

Friendly bar-tender in a lovely setting. Drinks were fantastic, full of subtle flavor and not syrup-sweet. The bar tender, owner, and (what I assume to be regular) patrons were welcoming, giving us a list of the best things to do in Philadelphia, since it was our first visit. Every single item on the list sounded wicked fun. We were visiting for one night. Based on our interactions in Baril, (and a little threatening weather) opted to extend our stay two more nights. We were able to walk to every item on the list and had a fantastic, unexpected vacation all because of this venue. Thank you Baril!

Not sure what it is trying to be, a bar food place or a gourmet restaurant. Its noisy, even in the back. Some of its dishes are first rate. But its touted burger is ordinary. The cheese tray itself was taken from Le Bec Fin and the selection and the gentleman who explains the varieties lives up to the standards of thr old days at Le Bec.

Had a fabulous meal here last night. Service was considerate and efficient. The food was top-end dining in a casual environment, that worked well. Highlights were the veal sweetbreads, and chocolate torte. As well as the extensive list of interesting beers. The whole venture deserves to do well. I wholeheartedly recommend.

Great locally sourced eatery. Excellent bloddy mary, bacon included! The hash was well done too. Service was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. Nothing more can be said described the delicious provocation my taste buds experienced. Please try it for yourself.

Came for restaurant week and was extremely happy with the food, service, and INCREDIBLE cheese course! They have recently re-opened the restaurant that was previously here with a new menu and vibe and I was very impressed.

Excellent spot for a quiet meal. The price reflects the ability to have a genuinely good meal with good service, without the hustle and hassle of many other downtown spots. Truly an oasis, with excellent food.

Rude wait staff and the food took over an hour to get to our table; by then we had 15 minutes to eat and pay before our event. We will not be back. There was lovely live music and that was the only benefit.

Food was decent. Service was absent. It took almost an hour for out brunch to come out. And once it did come out it was not delivered together. 5+ minutes between the first of our entrees and the last.

Really really great service and atmosphere. The cheese was incredible and paired well with the honey and fruits that came with them. I enjoyed the drinks as well. Their bartender is excellent.

Stopped in for drinks on a Friday evening. The bartender made some great cocktails and the endive salad was very tasty. Great for after work or evening, not too loud or too crowded.

Restaurant week. Waiter offered great recommendations on cocktails and wine. Plus, where else has a cheese monger offering a cheese course for restaurant week!

This place has such a cute ambiance and could be 5 stars if it wasnt insainly overpriced. An $18 Manhattan when youre not IN Manhattan is a huge miss!

Food was good, however the service was poor. When arriving waiter was rude and had no interest in discussing the options in the menu.
