4 of us went out for a nice dinner, and we had a HORRIBLE experience there this evening. We were seated and given plates, which I immediately noticed were dirty. We asked the waitress, Sarah, for new ones. She told us that it had been a problem all night and brought a stack of four more plates out to the table, and proceeded to sort them out at our table. Only one was "clean" and it was between other dirty ones. Then she brought our salads out, and my bowl had an oily film on the bottom and food smeared across the lip of it (not my salad). I asked for her to take my salad back and just serve my food in to - go containers. She argued with me about WHY the dishes were dirty and had me so upset that I was in tears. After giving more excuses as to why they were dirty (the dishwasher ran out of soap?!), she said she was going to take care of it and comp. some of our ticket. She brought a salad in a styrofoam container out to me, assuring me that it was a brand new salad. I could tell that it was the old salad dumped in to a new container because it was all mixed together. I didnt eat it. When she brought our dinners out, mine was again on a plate, which she apologized for and offered to get me a container for. I couldnt even eat my meal I was so grossed out. When the bill came, not a thing was comped. We paid it, as we arent looking for a handout, and then asked to speak to a manager. Megan came to talk to us and again just gave us excuses for the dirty dishes, saying it has been a problem, shed yelled at the dishwashers, and they dont listen to her. And then she invited us back. Yeah, right! Id feel better eating off a prison floor!

I went to Texas Road House wanting to like it. Some of my extended family went just after it opened and were not impresses. My wife and I just went there on a date. I will say that the service was great. We were seated fast and served well. However the food was terrible. I ordered a Berger with fries and had a onion flower as an entree. This is one of my favorites to get at other restaurants in the chain. Everything was so salty that I couldnt handle more than a couple of bites. On top of that they burnt my Berger. The mistakes were managed well and they let me order some pulled pork instead. That was better but still nothing to write home about. My walk away conclusion is that until they find better chefs I will not waste my time and money by eating there in the near future. I might try it again in a year or if I hear from people that I trust that they have improved their food.

Was there on the evening of the Miranda Lambert concert. We got there shortly after resturant opened..Meaning there was plenty of open tables/booths and they took our party of 5 to a 4 person booth and pulled up a chair..I like to be able to relax and enjoy my steak. When we asked the hostess if we could have another table she was very rude and rolled her eyes at us. Our waitress wasnt very good at keeping our drinks refilled or rolls on the table. When we got our food it was cold. Had to wait an additionaly 20 minutes after finishing eating to get our ticket THEN additional 10-15 minutes for our waitress to come back and get our money/Credit cards and go take care of them.. Have been to TRH in URBANDALE many times and have NEVER had any complaints..wouldnt reccomend going here.

Out of the last 4 times eating at the Ames location my steak was not cooked properly 3 of them. The first time they gave me my meal free because it took them twice to cook it properly. We tried again and the next visit was great. The third was lousy the steak again unable to make out the difference between med well and rare, prefer med well. Service was terrible had to ask other waiters and waitresses for everything we needed. The LAST visit Thursday night the service was excellent thank you T Hoveland. Once again the steak was not cooked properly and when returned was very overcooked and dry. Told the manager maybe they should check them before bringing out or revaluate there process of cooking to different degrees. Sorrry Ames 3 strikes and you are out.

Last Saturday the 8th me and my friend when to visit Texas Roadhouse for take out. The waitress who took our order was nice she even put in a few extra rolls for us. My friend got the pulled pork and I got the chicken critters with a loaded back potato and green beans. We we got to her house and ate the baked potato was great, the green beans were good. But the chicken critters were HORRIBLE, the batter was way to thick, it had no flavor and the chicken was not cooked all the way, I even questioned if it was chicken. I tried to put it in the oven to cook them a bit more but it made it worse. I dont know if it was because we were a take out order so they didnt cook it as long but it was nasty and I will never go take out from there again.

Great service, great food. Love the ribs, the salads, the filet, the country fried sirloin, and of course, the delicious yeast rolls. Why not five stars? They really struggle to get clean silverware to the table. Tonight took three tries before I got a clean set - the first roll had both forks stuck to the napkin with food. I have had several other occasions where the silverware was dirty. So if you go, check your utensils before you use them. I keep coming here for the food and the service, but I check before I use a fork, and knife, or napkin. Ive brought this problem to the attention of a manager, twice, but the problem persists. Perhaps others can share their experiences. Photo from the next night. Still not getting clean.

Very disappointed! Ive never been able to have prime rib there! 5 times now, I have been to Texas Roadhouse for supper since they opened in Ames. 5 times now, I have ordered their prime rib, the waitress took all of our orders, and 8 minutes later, came back and told us they were out of prime rib. Times of my visits ranged from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. How do you run out of a feature meal so early?!?! Im not going back again! Id rather drive all of the way to Ankeny to eat at Outback! Whats the deal? Am I not good enough to eat prime rib at this restaurant? Screw you!

I assume that its probably better to overcook a steak than risk undercooking it but I ordered a steak medium rare and was given a piece of meat that was still RAW in the middle (not rare, raw) and after I was served another steak (I had cut up the other one trying to make sure I wasnt and idiot who couldnt tell what a rare steak is, also because I couldnt see a thing in the dim lighting) that one was even less cooked than the previous. I was given a gift certificate for a free meal but Ill probably not be going back and if I do I wont be ordering a steak.
