Overpriced and not even worth it. My kids ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and Ruben burger. The bacon was burnt to a crisp the fries were bland and soggy. My husband and I got the buffet, the rice from the Chinese section was so hard you could have broke a tooth on it and the enchilada I tried was so cold the cheese wasnt even melted. To make matters worse my husband got the gelato and it had a piece of plastic the size of a dime in it! We reported it assuming it was a piece off the wrapping and wanting to make sure that no one else got a piece and possibly choked on it. Especially since a little girl and her mother were just there buying some. The response we received was not to worry about it because it was not from the wrapper it was just a stray piece of plastic that must have flown in there. That actually made it worse as we were both physically ill (literally) after hearing that and wondering what else might be just "flying into" the food we had just eaten. They did not offer to discount our food at all and their thinly veiled apology was horrendous coupled with there attitude about how it wasnt Gross or unsanitary at all and we were over reacting. I dont know if they just assumed we were trying to get a free meal because we were dressed down having just came from fishing or what, but you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. I am a nurse and my husband a manager. Both of us are well versed in customer service, something they obviously know little about.

My wife and I have been going to one on 86th for awhile and have enjoyed it very much. So once this location opened up closer to home we were more than happy to go. The first time we went was with some friends and we had a pretty decent experience. Though tonights visit wasnt the greatest. Tonight we decided we were going to order some steaks. I did the top sirloin and the wife did the fillet (each got a sweet Potatoe with it, then the wife got asparagus and I the mac and cheese). Being that she is pregnant she ordered her fillet well done, as did I. What we got was completely uneditible. Both her fillet and my top sirloin were charred and burnt beyond belief. We each took a bite thinking maybe the steak would still be good but all you could taste was ash. There was no seasoning or anything added to the steak other than a small slice of butter that just got absorbed because the meat was so dry. The side dishes were good though. We let our waitress know (she was nice about everything, as well as both of the managers walking the floor) and we were told we could pick something else (I didnt, but the wife picked out the portobello sandwich without the bun) and that didnt even taste right. In the end they comped our bill and we only had to pay for our drinks, even though we did offer to pay for everything but the steaks.

Came in to the restaurant hostes were very sweet. Placed my order with our waiter ordered chips and salsa/guac/spinach (half price apps)didnt receive for 20+ minutes then it took an additional 30 minutes for us to receive our food. Got my chicken pasta with asparagus and bacon and forgot my asparagus so I asked about it and manager said she would remake my pasta to go since the kids were almost finished by this time so we waited and waited and waited for the pasta finally i just got my check and paid for everything including the full price app because the forgot to discount it (since it was happy hour) and they couldnt field the manager to help. First and last time Ill ever eat here how disappointing!

Food was VERY GOOD. Delicious and beautifully served. Gluten-free buns available for all sandwiches. Prices are all over the place... some items are a great deal, others are lofty. Service is hit or miss. We had to wait quite awhile for our silverware after our food was delivered. But we should have spoken up sooner. Try this place for lunch, if youve never been here. We will be back for the FOOD... and will hope for a little better service next time. During March Madness, they have an All You Can Eat Boneless Wings and Fries Special for $10. They are delicious.

We LOVE this place! Dont be intimidated by paying a few extra dollars a plate, you will not be disappointment. Also dont disregard it for being in a grocery store- you wont feel like it when you walk in and it is not a grocery store cafe. They have a wide variety on the menu, accompanying many tastes& everything is delicious. So fresh and handmade touches that go above and beyond and set them apart. Everything is good, staff is awesome (Especially our favorite bartender Jordan B!) keep up the awesome work & give this place a try- you wont be disappointed!

OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT. We love it! Its our favorite for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We love walking to the store and sitting outside on the patio. Incredible staff, always friendly. Not sure what we love more -- 1/2 price sushi and wine on Wednesday or 1/2 price pizza on Sunday. And when we cant decide what we want, we can get the full buffet inside the grocery store - a little bit of everything! Fantastic beer and wine selection. Big TVs all around. We meet friends to watch Florida Gator games & its a blast.

Update: decreased rating to 3 stars. Used to be five. They messed up my order. On another occasion the asparagus I ordered was way undercooked. Market cafe is better than market grille. Original post: New favorite place to eat. Fresh food, great taste. Whole menu is good, hard to make a bad choice. A little pricey though, maybe just a date night event, not an every day eat. I recommend the market cafe at the hyvee on Ankeny blvd. The kitchen there has been better in my experience, perhaps just more competent cooks.

At first, my husband and I were judging ourselves for spending our Friday night dinner out at a grocery store restaurant... That is until the incredible popover bread came to the table. Melted in our mouth. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was the best pulled pork Ive ever had, which is saying something! Service was prompt and attentive, very Minnesotan :) Great dinner and we will be back many more times!!!

This is a hit or miss at times. one month they had a fish deal that was some of the greatest fish meals i ever had with great portation size and flavor, but if you order the fish now you get a small lil part of a fish with no real seasoning thats the size of your thumb with them charging $12 to $14 for. a secret item on the menu when made corectly is the halpano maple syrup crab wantons.

Im not overly impressed with the Market Grille for breakfast. My $5 breakfast that used to take 5 minutes or less in the old Hy-Vee now takes 15-20 minutes to receive. However, staff was very friendly and very sweet to the little old lady with possible dementia who became lost inside the restaurant.
