Tasty dishes, attentive service, huge portions... My fiance and I found El Rodeo two years ago after a rough week of moving to Maple Grove, and got seated promptly. There is a large selection on their menu, so while we were waiting we ordered a pitcher of Margaritas. Man were they good! They also brought a big bowl of fresh tortilla chips and a tub of salsa which was perfect - not too spicy and thicker chips than usual and you can tell they were fresh. We usually get the Carnitas dinner, which is a huge portion of carnitas, several hot tortillas (get the corn), refried beans, rice, guacamole, and more. Carnitas is so tender and delicious, and we always take the extras home and get another complete meal out of it. El Rodeo is pretty affordable too, especially considering that the portions are big enough for leftovers the next day. We have pleasant servers who are clearly Mexican and keep the place authentic, not like the poser Don Pablo down the street (which BTW has a super loud dining room and bad service the 1 time we went there). We usually get takeout since were pretty quiet people, but we still have great memories of that first time we got the pitcher of margaritas and had a great time breaking the ice to Maple Grove. Thanks El Rodeo for being a gem of a restaurant!

So we had decided to check out El Rodeo after reading some of the reviews here actually. I love authentic mexican food, although am not a huge fan of the Don Ps and such chains. I usually find smaller places to have better food, this was not the case. Pros: 1) We were seated promptly 2) Service was pleaseant and avaialble for us Cons: 1) Food was extremly bland 2) Chicken taco was dripping wet with water or something with zero flavor. 3) Beef taco tasted like nothing 4) I should not have to dump hot sauce and salsa on all of my food to actually taste something instead of just blah and bland. 5) My dates meal was also extremly bland and boring. It seems to me as this is a typical suburban restaurant that will dumb down all of thier flavors to appeal to as many people as possible. I honestly dont think I could make my food at home this bland if I even tried. I will not be recomending this place to anyone.

very average food at best with inflated prices. steak in burrito and for fajitas was chewy and not tender. rice and refried beans taste like they come from a can. ordered queso dip and the flavor was good but it was not warm. margarita also tasted very cheap as well. plastic bottle liqueur for sure. with one drink, queso dip, two entrees, and a kids meal it was $50 which typically is not an issue but the food was just barely edible and the service was lacking. our server would disappear to talk to one of his buddies. then at the end he throws the check on the table and failed to tell us to pay at the front. we sat there for 10 minutes before figuring this out.

I always am hesitant to try a new Mexican restaurant due to my corn intolerance. El Rodeo came highly recommended by several people so my husband and I decided to try it. I had the taco carnitas and my husband had the carnitas. OMG....so so good. The pork was very tender and between the sauces and all the garnishes for my tacos ( flour) I could barely finish what was on my plate. We ended up taking my portion of rice ( had corn and Lima beans in it) and one of the pieces of pork from my husbands dinner home. We definitely will come back again and probably bring some of our friends with us.

So first time in El Rodeo in Maple Grove. Hard day, and painful day. In fact, in tears as my husband is rubbing my knee to comfort the awfulness of my day. Incidentally we are gay married men ages 24 and 30. We are approached by a female server who asks us to quit touching each other for the sake of the children apparently behind us. What a joke. Terrible salsa, margaritas, and clearly racist clientele and workers. Taco Bell is better than this crap.

Chips were hard which was the first disappointing thing and then we both ordered the lunch burrito and requested shredded beef. . It was anything but shredded, it was tough and extremely dried out... hunks of something Im not even sure if it was beef...very disappointing and would not go back. I will say our waiter was very pleasant though, so thats probably why I gave it to stars and could give it more but based on the food… No way

Greeted promptly. Excellent Salsa and Chips. Our drink order was served immediately. Great selection and prices on Mexican draft beer all week. Our favorite meal is Chile Verde con queso blanco. Their wonderful outdoor patio is seasonal. El Rodeo will except coupons that are paper or on your phone. The only negative is El Rodeo is probably the only restaurant in Maple Grove that does not have Happy Hour on Friday and Saturday.

WILL NEVER EVEN THINK OF GIVING THIS PLACE A SECOND CHANCE!!! Sat for 15 minutes waiting for a table while what looked like "regulars" were being sat and when we finally had to ask for the third time for a table we got one. Sat at the table for 20 minutes, NO ONE HELPED US, we left!!! We went to Don Pablos down the street and had a great meal with great service for $50. WILL NEVER EVEN THINK OF GIVING THIS PLACE A SECOND CHANCE!!!

Always a great experience. Every time I go there I always have a great experience. Great staff, fast service, and the food is as authentic Mexican you can get in Minnesota. I usually go there on my Birthday and they always accommodate us when we bring in a large group. Im not sure what days, but their Margaretta are buy 1 get 1 on some days, and they are fantastic. I love this place and will continue to go there.

The food is pretty good with large portions. I recommend the queso. Make sure you purchase some caramels before leaving because they are to die for. The staff has always been very friendly and provide quick service. Food has always came out so hot that I have to wait for it to cool so I can eat it which is awesome. I wish they have better options for tacos and I wish they had tortas..Ive never seen tortas on their menu.

Good food with no surprises. Serving staff was friendly, and serving times were average for a sit-down restaurant. Comparable to El Loro, several steps above fast food. Ordered a shredded chicken burrito that came with beans, rice, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese. The shredded chicken was dry, but didnt stop me from enjoying the average Mexican cuisine. They also served corn chips and a loose salsa upon sitting down.

BEST MARGARITAS around!!! Check the specials--sometimes theyre BOGO, and sometimes the pitcher is on sale. We love the salsa and chips. The food here is fresher and more is made from scratch compared to other Mexican-style restaurants. The best thing about this place, however, are the employees. Great, cooperative atmosphere among the people who work here. Many actually are family. Prices are great too!

One of my favorite restaurants. The carnitas are amazing. Let me rephrase - weve never had a bad meal here. My wife tries different things. I just found my jam, and its the carnitas. The food has a very home-cooked taste, no out of the box products. Staff is friendly, and the food comes quick. Its a great place for families also, which is nice. The patio is great for some Margaritas in the summer.
