Went in on a saturday night with some friends visiting from out of town. The first question out of the greeters mouth was table or booth. I responded with we are going to sit in the bar tonight. She then replyed with "well are you guys over 21" ? I was set very back with her response. I replyed back with well yeah, so the "waitress" then came over after the 4 of us sat in a booth and didnt even greet us, she said can see everyones IDs . Three of us had them because we were wanting to enjoy a drink. The 4th person didnt bring her purse in since she was going to be the DD. The waitress said we couldnt sit in the bar since we didnt all provide IDs. I understand the law, but going about it in a more professional manner was not an option here. Just for the very poor service we have revieved I WILL NEVER go back to Old C again. One chance is all you get in this world, you guys suck!

Still one of my favorite places to eat. A little pricey but good food and good service. The place fills up fast and can be very loud. Its not a place to go if youre in a hurry. Its a great place to try a variety of beers and really greasy foods. I joke about their calzone saying that when you finish, you still have gravy (grease) left over. Its not a health food place but is a great place to celebrate with lots of friends and family. There pizza is excellent...lots of sauce, cheese, saturated fats and plenty of grease. I think the pizza and calzone is a better value than the $10.00 big burgers and fries but just barely.

We waited well over 10 minutes of even be noticed in the bar area and the manager was there. Just as I was about to ask who our waiter was he came over. He had been there the entire time and looked at us a few times . Never apologized or anything. Later on my drink was empty and I left it on the side of the table. Took him over 15 minutes to ask if I wanted a refill. Nobody in there ever smiled, except the hostess did as we were leaving. When we got home I called to complain and after 15 rings nobody had answered. Done going to this one. We will continue to go to Ames.

Twice now weve come here and gotten the wrong beer, with the staff insisting its the right beer. The first was supposed to be a Claymore, but it was clearly a porter. We even talked to the manager who told us the correct keg was hooked up. Not sure when Scotch ales were pitch black with chocolate notes, maybe they got a special keg. Tonight my wife ordered the Blue Mooon Cappacino Stout, and a light amber beer was served. For a place thats built around beer, they sure dont know much about it.

If you were idd at the bar its because it was likely at an hour everyone in the bar has to be 21. Its the law, and they dont want to lose their liquor license cause youre not happy. The best pizza Ive ever had was at this place- and both the Iowa City and the Ames locations, although really good, arent in the same league as the Ankeny restaurant. We shop in Ankeny when we can and make it a point to stop here. Nice folks, great food and drink.

I had some issues with opening my new beer tour card when my old one was lost. My beers werent being tracked and I wasnt able to get some of my glasses because the card wwasnt asnt registering them. The manager Brian fixed the situation as soon as I asked and got me a brand new card and all the beers onto my new card. Im very impressed with how quickly he took initiative and fixed my issue. I will definitely be returning!!!

I dont know what it is about the restaurants in Ankeny and the inability to find good help. But I rarely have a good experience at this restaurant. I live in Ankeny and I drive to Ames Old Chicago every time. There is a world of difference. I dont know what they do different but the pizza is MUCH better at the Ames location and the service is also noticeably better. I ate in Ankeny again last week and it wasnt very good.

Ate at their buffet, the server was confused-- said he didnt see our table of 4 sitting there after we asked him if he was our server... Then he proceeded to apologize 15 times and make it super awkward. The food on their buffet was ok, some of it was really good and some of it wasnt. None of it was labeled and there was a buffalo pizza, so not everything was mild.

The worst service ever!!!! Dont think about ordering a burger from here they will over cook the outside but still raw inside. Then when you make a complaint they offer you a free dessert item and have only one piece left and then charge you for it. Unwilling to work with the customer. No tip very disappointed!!! Ankeny location very bad!!

Ordered the artichoke dip. Received a disappointingly small portion of runny glop that looked nothing like the picture on the menu. Told waitress. She told manager. They took less than half of the price of it off our bill. I suppose to them receiving half a portion of an item doesnt justify refunding the full price.

We sat at a booth they told me I couldnt have a high chair we asked why they really did n t give us a good reason so I had to to eat while holding my baby the whole time and I felt like the waitress was trying to get us out of the whole time!!! Not a good experience at all

For second time at this location is have waited 15 mins for someone to wait on us didnt have time to wait on them to stop and ask me what I want they werent busy maybe 10 people in the hole place there were more wait staff then people eating

Dining in service is pretty good, however carry out messed up a simple order asking for one of the pizzas to not have a certain ingredient one of my employees was allergic too. Best part is the food itself

Beer could be colder ( my preference ). 1st time here. Italian Nachos ( small order enuf for one ) were VERY interesting. I am from New Orleans and the Zest of the dish was Very good.

Good food. Their online menu does not match their current menu. Went for spaghetti and meatballs but the did not have it, disappointed. Ended up getting the brat Mac n cheese.

The food is always good. The service is hit and miss. Once I joined my party a little latter in the night. I wasnt noticed until the rest of my party was almost done eating!

Hostess- what a snob! Waitress was very short when we asked for German beer. Became very friendly when she nroight the bill. To late for a change of tip little girl!!!
