I chose Buca di Beppo for my rehearsal dinner because I love their food. We had salad, chicken marsala, spaghetti, cheese raticotti, and cheesecake with bread and red/white wines for around 30 people. It was delicious, as always, but we had a few issues with their service and hospitality. When I initially booked my rehearsal dinner, I did it through corporate and I had to fax our contract several times because the person who was working with me left the company and never forwarded any of our information to the Wheeling location. After that, I felt like I needed to verify everything with the staff in Wheeling. I specifically said that I didnt know how long our rehearsal would last at our church in Arlington Heights, therefore I didnt know what time we would arrive for dinner. They never mentioned that the time would be an issue. We called when we were on our way and said that we were running about 30 minutes late (reservation started at 6pm). When we arrived for dinner at 6:30, the staff introduced themselves and went over the meal. I asked if there was anything else they needed to go over, and they said that at 8pm if we were not finished eating dinner, then we would... A.) be kicked out, B.) charged for going over the time limit of 2 hours for a large party, C.) not allowed to take home leftovers, D.) be charged an additional fee, E.) Any or all of the above. I was pretty mad hearing this news because no one told me it before the actual event, and most of my guests were still running late at that time. I had my mom talk to the manager and they retracted this requirement and apologized for everything...BUT still make sure you know that they could do this to you. They also topped off our drinks WAY too much and I think thats how we conveniently had to keep ordering more bottles of wine. I will always go back their for dinner, but I would not recommend having a large party there

I want to amend a previous review I left regarding the price of one scoop if ice cream. I misread the check and the ice cream was actually $2.99 a scoop and NOT $5.99 a scoop. I left a review indicating my displeasure at the price of the dessert, but it was my mistake after all. I contacted Buca di Beppo regarding the price before I relaized my mistake and they responded promptly. Obviously they care about their customers. When I told the manager on the phone that I had made a mistake reading the check she was very nice about it and encouraged us to visit again. Just wanted to set the record straight. UPDATE: we visited for Fathers Day and were disappointed. The service was not bad but not timely either. The server appeared not to care about our table at all, taking orders from others who were seated after us. Once we ordered, she appeared to put more effort into waiting on us, bringing us bread and refilling water glasses and drinks; earlier we sat for 20 minutes before any bread was served. Maybe the restaurant doesnt allow the server to bring bread before the customer orders just in case they dont order something that incudes bread. Just a guess. We had a coupon for $10.00 off two entrees which helped, however at this last visit, we decided that Buca is just too expensive. We spent over $70.00 for 4 people (no dessert and including tip and coupon). Spaghetti is cheap; they must make a fortune on that!

We arrived, were asked to wait about 5 to 10 minutes, which we did, and were then shown to the table. There were, in the section we were in, 10 tables with seating for about 50 people, there were 2 other diners in this section. Why the hell did we have to wait? We were looking at the menus, the waitress brought some olive oil, balsamic vinegar and bread. The bread was the best I have tasted for years, and she asked us for more when we finished that which we had more of, but she failed to notice that we needed more oil and vinegar. The starter arrived, bread topped with cheeses, superb, wonderful, tasty, warm, a really good appetiser. Now, here is where it starts to really go down hill, we were still eating the appetiser when the main course arrived. What the hell is this, Im from England, only been here a few months, so did not know your customs, my dining partner just accepted this, so I never said anything. I asked her later and she said that it sometimes is like that. In England, we have time between courses, to talk, drink, make an evening of it. So, to the main meal, I had baked rigatoni, nothing in the menu said that it was spicy hot, but it was, and I didnt like it. I found the restaurant to be one of the worst I have been in, they wouldnt last long in England, rushing you through the meal like that. It wasnt as if they were busy, either. Real poor quality and it isnt cheap. Will not go again.

This place is the biggest dump I have ever tried to eat at. The place just looked dirty from the beginning… I thought the neon sign in one of the windows that said “sanitary restrooms” was a joke. It was. The restrooms were as grungy as the rest of the place. I just should have left after I saw the bathrooms, but I decided to keep giving it a try. The food was incredibly expensive, and completely tasteless. Half way through my “meal” was a 6 inch hair in my food!! I told the waiter, he REACHED into my food and pulled the hair out, and then he asked if I was sure it wasn’t mine!!! My hair is grey, and about a half an inch long. Obviously I didn’t finish the food. The waiter came back and asked if I wanted the rest wrapped up to take home!!! I said, “Would you?” He said,”No, probably not.” The manager didn’t ever have to courtesy to come over to the table, the waiter simply said, “The manager said you won’t be charged your entrée.” My wife was also hopelessly grossed out and she couldn’t finish her food either, but that we had to pay for. What a classless dump!! NEVER, NEVER eat there!

I thought that the place seemed like its gotten worn down over the years as its been at least three years since Ive been in there and not much has changed. I understand the charisma of the place is what what people are looking for and makes a place memorable, but I also think that a restaurant should at least keep upgrading as time goes on and look for new ways to improve the experience of the patron while maintaining their character. That has not happened here. We had a very long wait in spite of many open tables. I would think that a smart manager might offer something during your wait to make time go by somewhat faster. The restrooms really need to be updated and photos re-examined. Service was kind of disorganized but I would really say that the food quality wasnt anything that I would be back for. Kind of greasy and not really that good just average. There are places in Wauconda that are significantly better. Wake up guys.
