Ive been here a couple of times and I still havent fallen in love. Lunch is ok, dinner is ok, but brunch is pretty good. In my humble opinion, Shokudo tries to master too many types of Asian cuisine and should just really focus on one or two. The Korean dishes miss the mark, the Japanese dishes just dont cut it, and the remaining fusion is a little confused. I did, however, enjoy the brunch dishes. Their pancakes are pretty good. If you want something a little different from what the rest of 2nd Avenue has to offer, try Shokudo but dont expect truly authentic Asian cuisine.

This new Asian Restaurant serving Japanese, Chinese, Thai food opened in late 2012. Its one of the newest restaurant in the growing Design District. The Menu has a diverse lineup of items including: Gyoza, Pork Cheek Buns, Singapore Chow Fun as well as Sashimi/Sushi. The bowl of white rice I had was just the way I like it, dry, aldente - 3rd Gen Japanese-American Style - the way I prefer it. For dessert, I had Mochi Ice Cream. You can park in the gravel lot just North of the restaurant or on the street. Its on the left hand side as you travel North on NE 2nd Avenue.

This was my first Michelin starred sushi restaurant so I was pretty excited about coming here. We sat at the bar, which is the ultimate Omakase experience. However, I thought the sushi was mediocre. Some of the pieces were great but others were just mediocre. I also didnt like how there was a combination of warm and cold dishes rather than being consistent. Meh, this Michelin restaurant didnt leave a huge mark for me to want to come back again or rave about. Id much rather go to Sushi Yasuda in Miami for half the price, also one Michelin starred.

The Takarada clan from locally loved World Resource Cafe strike gold again! I just got back from a delish meal here and everything — from the ambience to the service to the cuisine — was entirely on point. Plates not to be missed included the salmon sashimi, rock shrimp tempura salad and chow fun noodles. Theres something to be said of the decor and outdoor seating here, too — the bamboo garden located in the backyard will whisk you away to a faraway place. Love that!

we came for the shabu shabu, what an expensive disappointment . Chunks of 3x2 carrots and cubes of 2x2 daikons. Ends of green onion. How are they supposed to cook? Where are the choices of dipping sauce? Where is the quality of the cuts of veggies! We had to ask for soup bowl and utensils . Runny Desert over cooked . The beef amazing! We love the sushi Forget this dish until you know how to prepare it .

We just ordered 3 special sushi rolls from this place and they were terrible. They all looked and tasted line they were made for the lunch case at publix and they delivered them to us for dinner. The avocado on top of one was brown, the pickled ginger was dry, and the overall taste if all three rolls was disappointing.

Yum! Finally found good Thai food in Miami after what feels like a ridiculously long quest. We had the the tom yum soup, fresh spring rolls and the pad Thai, and it was all super delis! I had to take off one star for them forgetting to include forks or chop sticks/napkins, but I would definitely eat here again!

Shokudo is one of my favorite restaurants. You will enjoy great service and excellent food. I greatly recommend it to everyone. In regards to the negative comment from Jeffrey Swetz I think he probably has never been to a good restaurant and only enjoys the taste of supermarket foods. How sad.

I never had a bad meal there. It is ALWAYS consistent. It is ALWAYS fresh. It is ALWAYS the best. Everyone I recommend LOVES it there. Update: This is 2015 and still very consistent great tasting food, great service.
