My wife and I moved to Chicago from NYC almost half a year ago. Weve been searching and searching for a local Indian restaurant that could live up to both the quality and affordability of what was lavished on us in Astoria and Jackson Heights, Queens, and throughout Manhattan. Unfortunately, Lakeview didnt have a lot of options. But as soon as we heard about Royal Indian Grill moving to a storefront only a short walk from our apartment, we had to put it to the test. The restaurant passed with flying colors! This is absolutely our new neighborhood Indian spot. Not only that, its without a doubt our favorite Indian restaurant in the city. Their vegetarian entrees are out of this world. Some of the best chana saag Ive ever had (and Im an expert), and since they dont mix cream into their saag its quite healthy. The kali daal was mind blowing. Like a daal makhani but with a spicy kick. The green chilis gave it a flavor unlike any daal Ive ever had. This place is definitely one of my all time favorite Indian joints. Get a veggie samosa and youll be in heaven. Also, you wont break the bank.

I went in to get an order of Samosa, Naan and Chicken Tikki Masala to go. I was talking to the young lady who worked there about what I wanted and going through the menu I saw a combination meal. It was a couple bucks more but it sounded like a good idea. I ordered that but when I got home even though it says it comes with Chicken Tikki, it doesnt come with the sauce. Mind you the sauces come in a 8.oz container. Well that sucks, I spent almost 30 bucks and didnt get what I wanted. I called and told her the situation. I asked if I could get an order of the Chicken Tikki Masala but at a discount. She knows thats what I originally wanted. No she said. i would have to pay 15 bucks for the 8 oz container. Somehow treating myself for New Years was turning into a disaster. No thanks. Im not spending 45 on lunch. So I spent almost 30 bucks on lunch and didnt get what I wanted. I totally regreted giving her a buck for carry out. Normally I dont tip for carry out but its the holidays.

We tried several other Indian restaurants in the city and have found royal Indian grill to be the best. The quality of the food is always top notch and the taste is ready made to your liking. I prefer something less spicy, while my fiancée prefers it more spicy. We eat here every Sunday and the staff is so great that they know us by name. Having the ability to call and order "the usual" is a real treat. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for simple, delicious, Indian food.

I ordered the chicken masala, yogurt with cucumber and butter nan. Hmmm I say average. The masala needed to be more rich with flavor, I dont know but I had better one from my home country so to be fair this might be the local preference. Butter nan lacked enough butter coating. And strangely they added honey to the yogurt and cucumber order witch doesnt fly well together. Hmmm I think I will look for another restaurant. Well its guest my opinion and you might have a better luck.

The worst food I ever had in my life. Recently I placed an order through grub hub. The food was so bad that all the curries tasted same with the same gravy and even no difference between veg and non veg. Naans are very hard and the veg starters are horrible. Alootikki is literally half cooked. Chicken starters are like two years old. I never had this bad experience from any restaurant. We literally threw 130$ worth food into garbage. Never ever recommend this place to anyone.

Clean restaurant and good service. The food was great and my wife and I were very pleased. Not sure why some people gave it negative reviews. They accommodated our special request for my wifes food and they checked back several times to make sure we enjoyed our food and we were doing good.

Love For you
The Malai Chicken Masala is heavenly! every time Im here I NEED to order that. The breads are very fluffy and soft. I love the food here Although I dont understand why people complain about the "Indian standards", Im an Indian and I love their food. Everything is delicious and flavorful!

The staff at this restaurant are very amenable and highly efficient. The food is some of the best Ive had in a long time and you can tell they use fresh, natural ingredients. Plus, the restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere and late hours. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant.

The ambience was very non inviting, the air conditioning wasnt working and it was s very hot and humid day. The food was ok too, its not what you would want to go for if you are looking for authentic Indian flavor

I ordered the hottest thing on the menu and they skimped on the spicy. You have to make sure to tell them if you want it to be spicy even after theymarked which food should be spicy on the menu.

Its a bad experience for me. I didnt liked the food taste. They didnt reach indian food standards. That would be great if they can change their name from indian to american restaurant.

Great set up. Good service, mango lassi is top tier. I usually go with the Chicken Tikka Masala. They deliver and are available on grub hub. Good portions.
