Ugh! Where do I begin? I read some reviews online and decided to give it a try for a carry out. When I saw that they were microwaving my rice in a plastic container, I knew I wouldnt be back. If it was in a glass container or on a ceramic plate, I would have let it slide...but I never use plastic in the microwave..duh! Next, after the first stop sign driving home, the contents of the flimsy containers spilled out into the bag and the floor of my car. I pulled over to try to save what I could. When I unpacked it at home, it was a total mess! She had piled 3 flimsy containers on top of each other, each one with the lid only half way on. They put a piece of saran wrap under the lid as if that was going to keep it all in...? So we were going to eat what was left of our Mutar Paneer and Mixed Vegetables. The food was so extremely salty that we couldnt even eat it. I ended up trying to heat it up on the stove diluting it with water and adding potatoes to soak up the salt...still salty. The Naan was more like a stale tortilla soaked in oil, and the Mixed Vegetables were nothing more than frozen green beans, carrots, and corn (all uniformly cubed like they come in the frozen bag) with a few potatoes, and it was in the exact same sauce as the other dish. This meal was a total failure. Nothing about it was good. I am shocked to see all these rave reviews...yall need to get out more.

The veg dishes are delicious and spicy! Best samosas ever. Handmade and delicate pastry, never frozen. Great for a long dinner with friends. Can be slow service, but friendly. Go to Taste across the street for a $10 bottle of wine to drink with your meal. I read the rest of the reviews, and agree that Luzzat can be a tiny bit inconsistent. I have been there many times in the last four years and once they forgot to add salt and one time I got a chicken dish I didnt order with my take out. Its true that the packaging could be better, and the curry is a bit oily, but I have had great food from Luzzat and know a lot of other people who love it. The eggplant and okra dishes are my favorite, as well as the palak. I have been underwhelmed by their meat which can be too dry (chicken) or lamb (too salty). Stick to veg classics.

The food is good, but I simply cannot recommend this place because the woman who runs it spends the whole time LOUDLY berating and belittling her poor employees in front of the guests. This woman was so vile and nasty that I was surprised she didnt whip out a stick and start beating the poor girl. Obviously, you can avoid this uncomfortable experience by ordering for delivery, but youd still be supporting a fairly nasty creature. We have plenty of great Indian food in Chicago, and most of the other places are run by people who treat their employees with dignity and respect. Steer clear of this one.

Personally I think this is one of the best Indian places in the city - there I said it. but it has one hitch that is a big issue for many folks: They really make their food pretty darn fresh which means when you order expect to wait around 40 minutes. yep thats right Forty Minutes. I think its well worth it if you order early before you are starving because the food is really, REALLY good in my personal taste. They are sweet and accommodating. No nan for those nan-lovers as this is south Indian/pakistani but they have that foldie-tortilla-like bread (the name escapes me). Also very yummy.

When I went here, it was at least 85 degrees in the dining room. We ordered curry and both of our entrees took at least 45 minutes from the time we ordered to get to the table. The food was pretty standard Indian fare, though apparently the waiter misunderstood me saying "not spicy" as a challenge to make my food as spicy as possible, far spicier than my friends unmodified curry. The wait staff was unhelpful and rude, and I had to get up and ask each time we wanted a refill. Even though this place is across the street from my house, I would never go back.

Love this place! Usually, youll have to wait a bit long but, trust me, it will be worth it. The older couple (owners?) and the younger guy are very nice too. The place is not fancy, nor theres high-end decor, but it certainly not needed because the food is fabulous. Spicy dishes ARE spicy!!! Not "watered down" like in other places. Ive tried about five or six different dishes by now and all the sauces are just the way I like em. Anyway, all in all, highly recommended!

I love this place! If youre looking for some fancy, overpriced Indian, go to Devon. This place is a mom & pop Indian place run by women and their son (from what I can tell). They have amazing food, decent prices, conveniently located near me. All the reviews on Yelp were amazing, and I agree, so check them out. Most main dishes come with rice, and their samosas are HUGE. Like, the size of a softball huge. And theyre happy to work with all spice levels!

This place is fantastic! It has unbelievable deliciously food, and the owner/cook/server is really sweet. It has a homey atmosphere and keeps me coming back. Bring some wine/beer/whatever you like to drink, and dont expect your service to be fast. This is a perfect place to go with someone who you make good conversation with. It will NOT be fast dining, but it will be tasty.

For my neighborhood Indian joint, its solid. Good food, can get plenty spicy. The chef is very nice, but also the only person Ive ever seen in the kitchen, so patience is advised. It wouldnt make sense to drive past better places on Devon to get here, but Im very happy to have it within walking distance. BYO with the great Taste wine shop right across the street.

Well, after the forth time I asked the cook to wash her hands before handling my food (she just came from the convenience store with something gooey on her fingers) and cringing at the old crusty food on the water pitcher even though I was the first customer..., I resolved to never eat here again. Hygiene trumps flavor in my book.

The best Indian cuisine Ive had. Just be prepared for lots of oil. And this is definitely a place for carry out. Eating in is fun but the service is definitely sub-par, as is the dining room which includes a bathroom sink. But I would expect no more from a family run place like this - the food more than makes up for it.

Okay. It looks like a hole in the wall. But, as is often the case, its a hidden gem. The food is outstanding and authentic. A couple friends and I get take out from this place pretty often when we hang out, and Ive never been disappointed. I know a few things about Indian food, and this stuff is the real deal. Yum.

Great, spicy food. We ordered the chicken biryani, and the chicken vindaloo. The restaurant was very empty when we went, but the service was very slow. Our waiter did not come around and ask if we needed anything etc. He was back in the kitchen. However, because the food was great, I would be willing to go again.
