To make it quick: The food was great. My friend and I ordered chana masala with roti. I ordered an extra order of papadum, but never received it. I wasnt charged for it so, no harm no foul. Our waiter was okay. He took quite a bit of time to take our order and my friend pretty much had to stop him and ask him if we could order. The place wasnt busy, mind you. It was around 9:45 on a Saturday night and they close at 11. When we received our roti, I noticed it looked at as if had butter on it. Ive been to other Indian restaurants and never received butter on my roti. I asked the waiter if the roti did in fact have butter on it and he said yes. I asked for an order of roti without butter. Here comes the fun part: Im basically politely lectured that all Indian restaurants put butter on their roti, I can have anything customizable, and I basically should have said I didnt want butter. I had a college reading level when I was in middle school. I love to read. I read the menu and didnt see butter listed anywhere on the description for roti. So, the waiter brings my roti and has to comment, "Here is your roti WITHOUT BUTTER." I gave my friend a look to convey, "No he didnt." In summary: The food is good, but the service leaves a bit to be desired. If you have time to wait for your order or for your bill OR youre assertive, this is the place for you. Im not sure if Ill be back considering Chicago has a lot of Indian restaurants.

Every dish Ive ever eaten at Raj Darbar over the last three years has been delicious. I had to suffer through at least a dozen lousy meals around the city before I found this gem that is right on the border of Lakeview and Lincoln Park. I think they make the basics of Indian food exceptionally well which is why I like eating there. I usually get a Dal Makhani or the Baigan Piaz Masala. I know that the food is a little more expensive than some other places but with slightly higher prices comes the security of everything on the menu being worth ordering.

I must have ordered delivery from this place at least 30 times if not more, and I have never been disappointed. Ive never been inside, so my "Good" rating for decor is a wild guess. But if you want Indian food delivered to your door, I dont think its possible to do better than Raj Darbar. Everything is good. They have a bunch of different types of naan, which is somewhat unusual. I like it, the potato filled one and the garlic are both great. Also love the samosas and chicken tikka masala. The epitome of consistency.

Good food! But the service was absolutely terrible. We waited half an hour for the waiter to take our order, I never received the smoothie I ordered (they charged me for it, but then took off the charge once I talked to them), and they gave me a different tandoori dish than I had ordered. We ended up being there for two and a half hours, simply because we were waiting on our food... we ate the meal within 20 minutes. The food was pretty good, but the service made it a very bad experience.

Food and service rather bizarrely poor. Baingan eggplant dish was heavily Americanized combo with midwestern brown sauce. Tandoori chicken appeared boiled, not baked, equally pedestrian sauce. Server neglected to ask how spicy we wanted it; it came out not spicy at all. Service? Terrible. We had a flight the next morning and it took 25 minutes twiddling our thumbs to get a check and leave. Maybe the owner has a half hour to sit around doing nothing, we didnt.

Cant comment on the food, but they advertise having a Sunday Lunch Buffee from 11-2:30 on their coupons... which is not the case. The sign said open at 1:30 PM, but it was dark inside and they didnt have any customers. The host told us that they did not have a lunch buffet on Sundays, so they have already lost a potential customer b/c of their false advertising. Might want to fix the error on their advertisements if they dont want to disappoint other customers.

Absolutely awful. I will never buy from these guys again - it took an hour and 45 minutes for my food to arrive and when it did it was stone cold. I had to microwave it, if I wanted a microwave meal Id have gone to Walmart! Called the restraint to complain, it went to voicemail, left a message nobody ever called me back. I paid $60 for absolute rubbish. Clearly the price is no indication of quality here.

This place is really good food. I really like the bases for the curries they make - thats what makes the food taste amazing. Once a michillin bib restuarant, they havent lost their finesse. I wouldnt get the biryani though, as it was my least favorite thing there. The service sometimes leave a little to be desired, as there seems little communication between the kitchen and front of house.

The food here was really good. I most enjoyed the palak paneer with spinach and ate it with naan. The samosas were so crispy and flavorful and less greasy than others Ive had. The chicken tikka masala wasnt anything too amazing, but we enjoyed the lamb in a rice dish. This was definitely a good place to come for Indian food. It took a while to get our bill, but it wasnt a huge deal.

I dined in at Raj for the first time last night and had a phenomenal experience. Who I suspect to be the owner, as well as the whole staff, was very pleasant and made our dinner great. While I do not know the Indian cuisine that well, I do know good food, which is what Raj was full of. I would recommend Raj to anyone.

Visited this on Labor Day weekend, service was courteous. We ordered Paneer Do Pyaza and Daal Makhni along with butter Naan. Dishes served were doing justice to themselves. Also the Naans were one of the finest I have eaten at quite a few Indian restaurants. Altogether nice choice for authentic taste.

Excellent traditional Indian food. Exceptionally flavorful and seasoned. Good non, if you are a non fan. Excellent service, very friendly, owner comes out and asks you how you are enjoying things. A small wine selection, however their selection compliments their food quite well. A true gem.

Awesome Sunday Buffet. I love the Paneer and the Chicken Pakora which are fried in chickpea batter. They have a great assortment of Naans, with beef, assorted nuts and all kinds of spices. Order something from the clay oven, I love their tandori chicken it is so flavorful!

Place is solid. Love their food. Their staff is super friendly, and the last time I was there we came in close to close...prime time for employees to not give you great service. They were just as welcoming and friendly as always, and our food came out perfect.

The food here is pretty decent. I actually came here with my girlfriend not too long ago with a groupon. You can get sooooo much food here, it is ridiculous. I myself can eat a lot of food and even after getting a few drinks, we still had food to last us for days.
