Our waiter chose to insult us for sitting together rather than assess the situation and/or listen to our explanation. We chose to walk out. As a couple in our 70s its not normal to have waiters yell at us. Most people in the hospitality industry understand the importance of polite service. This yooung man was distressed that we combined two tables together so that I could move out of the sunshine and we could sit side by side. So you dont care that others will have to wait he sneers while raising his voice. I could have pointed out that there was an empty table right behind him and two more tables who had just handed in their bills and there were no people waiting and hadnt been for the last 10 minutes. In addition we had already ordered our breakfast and would be gone soon ourselves. No I saw no reason for applying logic to a situation where emotion and obstinance were in charge. So... bye bye!

My family and I happened to find this place Saturday night while visiting Chicago for the first time from Pittsburgh. We were here for a week and tried every pizza and hot dog place that had been suggested to us, (all fantastic) but still wanted to find a nice affordable local place to eat. 3rd Coast Cafe was truly the perfect place to eat. Everything was exceptional, the service, the atmosphere, and the food. I felt at home from the second I walked through the door. Every bite of food was delicious. I just wished I would have found this place earlier in the week because we are leaving today. Thanks for a great experience,

Id call this restaurant useful. We came here for a couple of meals, and the food ranged from decent to good - but the wide selection here was useful to my family for providing something for everyone. We came one day for a late light lunch. We came another day for an early breakfast - I enjoyed my stuffed french toast while my wife got a more lunch-y sandwich and fries. The location is at the ground level of an apartment complex (a couple steps made it slightly complicated but not too bad with a stroller). It feels quiet and tucked away from what might otherwise be considered a busy part of town.

I stopped in here today in the middle of the afternoon, just for a place to sit, grab a coffee and get some work done. The atmosphere is pleasant with nice upbeat music in the background. The coffee was good and the wifi was free! What more could you need! Best of all, the place was pretty quiet in the afternoon so it was not a hassle to relax, work and enjoy. I hope to come back for a meal or cocktails sometime soon.

Amazing hidden gem! I ate here for breakfast the past 3 days so I thought I needed to write a review. The menu is the perfect size with tasty american food. There are always customers in there, but I have yet to wait for a table. 3rd Coast has great service, reasonable prices, and the food is delicious. I look forward to eating there for dinner and trying their drink deals ($5 jumbo margarita!!!)

Its a decent spot for brunch- and theres usually a line to prove it. I was fine with the classic eggs benedict, but my friend was not impressed with the chilaquiles. Its a neighborhood spot with a pretty standard menu if youre looking for comfort food. Id say their interior needs an upgrade (especially because its not ADA accessible) but the gold/maroon/wood finishes give it a homey charm.

The house omelet, toast and hash browns are spot on. They serve breakfast all day! The warm space is a great to have a conversation with a friend or wind down at the end of a night. I suggest ordering an item off their dessert menu which has some gluten free options.Their red wine selection is limited but I saw my favorite pinot noir from Oregon on the menu.

The duck and foie gras agnolotti were amazing. We tried this amazing Spaghetti Pomodoro. Must try. We also tried the roasted prawns and they were very delicious. Great size portions for the price. The decor is warm and sexy. We shared the wood roasted branzino and the Osso buco. Both delicious. We had a great time and we will come back soon for sure.

Stayed at Indigo Hotel back in February and came across this neighborhood cafe and decided to try it out. We loved it and after services at Moody Church found ourselves having a late nite dinner here then breakfast. Looking forward to visiting again next week while in Chicago for Moody Bible Institute graduation.

This is my favorite neighborhood restaurant! In fact, it may be my favorite restaurant in the whole world. The food is amazing! I love it so much that I go almost every weekend. The staff is great! My favorite item to get is the Cobb salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The scones are really good too.

What a great find! In town for a wedding and we just had a great dining experience at this quaint little cafe. The atmosphere was perfect and the food even better! Janet (owner) personalized the service and gave us a dessert on the house as first-time guests. Dont miss this place!

My husband took me here on one of our first dates and its now one of our favorite places. Lots of GF options. Good beer and wine list. Amazing coffee. Veggie Hash, Turkey & Brie, Diablo Beef, and the burgers are our favorites. Mimosas at brunch are really good.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. An expansive menu with reasonably priced options for any taste. Kid friendly with options they can split with a kitchen that can accommodate any request. Highly recommend this restaurant for quality food at a reasonable price.

The food here is scrumptious and affordable. The menu is varied and they have both vegetarian and gluten free options. The ambiance is nice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed.

This is the perfect place for Sunday brunch, Friday night drinks with friends, or dinner any night of the week. The California Salad is unbelievable and the live jazz music on weekend nights is great. One of my favorite places!

Great local place to meet with friends for good food. Flexible breakfast/dinner menu with changing specials. Nice staff and atmosphere, although sometimes the music is too loud to maintain a conversation.

This tucked away neighborhood cafe is great for breakfast and has a nice, warm atmosphere. My go-to favorite is the breakfast sandwich. Prices are pretty good compared to other options for brunch.
