DISHONEST BILLING BY MANAGER! Sunday lunch with my cousins yesterday - ordered an appetizer and 3 entrees. Service was slow, food was average but nothing horrible. My parents asked that I bring them some sushi, so I asked the waitress if I could place a carry out order. She said that I can order off the happy hour menu but that shed need to bring it to the table and Id have to box it myself. Then she came back and tells me that shell ask them if they can box it for me. 20 minutes later, she came back with a bag of my order. She said that this is a one time courtesy. However, when I checked my bill, I noticed that I was charged regular price for the most expensive item. When I questioned this, the waitress said that the manager decided that she felt she should charge me for having them box my food for me because she (the manager) had to help out and because it caused them to delay service for 2 tables. First of all, THEY offered to let me order off the happy hour menu. I wouldve been fine if they said no or if I had to box it up myself. Also, how is it a one time courtesy when I got charged for this "courtesy"?! Why didnt they give me the courtesy of mentioning the charge instead of hoping that I didnt catch it? VERY SHADY! I spent over $120! They not only lost a loyal customer but my extended family, friends, and colleagues as patrons.

Im not exactly sure exactly what days and times they offer happy hour, but that is when I went and it was awesome! First of all, I sat at the bar so I could watch the really pretty fish tank while I waited for a friend. I had a martini that was also on special and the bartender was helpful at passing the time while I waited thirty minutes for my tardy friend. Since appetizers, pizzas, and specific sushi rolls were half off, we ordered an obscene amount of food. The chicken skewers were delicious. We split a pizza, had a calamari with some sort of unique dipping sauce, and on top of that we had two sushi rolls. As ashamed as I am to admit it, nothing was left on any of the plates. The food was so good. Sushi was unbelievably cheap. Plus, the atmosphere really had a fresh, contemporary look to it. The room in back overlooks a pond of some sort and it was very beautiful. I would say that this is a suburban restaurant with a city feel.

I started things off with a spicy yellowtail roll that just woke up the pallette! Since seafood is one of my favorites when dining out, I ordered the pan-seared ahi tuna. It came on a bed of rice and spinach, accompanied by a sweet/hot sauce that was addictive. The combination of flavors was excellent - as was the wine (Cabernet). Several different persons came by to ensure that I was pleased, and asked for feedback. You will not be disappointed there - though if dining near the bar, it is quite loud. Stay out in the general seating area if you wish to have conversation.

This is my favorite restaurant. I have been here several times just for their sushi. The Vegas Rolls are AWESOME and so is every other roll they make. I always get the Vegas Rolls because my friends dont like sushi, but they like these. They are flash fried so if you dont want raw fish this is the way to go. The Eel sauce it comes with is so delicious dont even think about using Soy or Ginger. Their macadamia nut pie was TO DIE FOR, but they dont make it anymore. Extremely disappointing.... Awesome Mojitos too!

The staff is friendly and quick but the food is terrible.. 2nd time coming here.. last time was about 3 years ago and it didnt get better. Was not told the pesto cream and garlic bread would be very spicy and did not ask because since when is pesto and garlic bread spicy? The chicken was like low quality Tyson strips with tons of cartilage I stopped trying to eat it after 2 bites. If it was not as pricey I probably wouldnt have been so let down. On the plus side refills on sight I suppose..only needed one glass myself.

This place was wonderful when it first opened. Delicious food and good service. The last 3 times I have eaten there, however, the food was terrible. In general, the service has been fine. I have been served water that was full of the sterilizing solution and sub-par fish that had an old flavor in past visits. Last night was it for me - rubbery chicken, pieces of burnt potato skin in the mashed potatoes that also had an off flavor and bland vegetables that tasted old. The food is better at home.

Love this place! Someone mentioned above about the restaurant being empty, and I have never seen that! Every time Ive been its packed. Clearly people love it, and it is a popular place. The atmosphere is great, and the patio is the best place to sit..its under a roof, but the windows open up completely. The server was amazing and polite, and the manager came by to see how everything was. Their food is fantastic, and it is my favorite restaurant.

Kona Grill has a relaxing, casual-chic vibe and a varied menu that pleases sushi lovers, salad addicts and meat eaters as well. Lunch specials are reasonably priced. Beautiful views off the sun porch looking out on the huge nearby lake. Interior dining spaces are quiet and private. The staff is attentive and will make any request their pleasure. A great place for family, friends and business entertaining.

We came in during the happy hour on weekday, and ordered both from the happy hour menu and the regular menu. I highly recommend the Cuban sandwich from the regular menu. The happy hour selection, we have the voodoo roll (this is too spicy) and dragon roll which is just an okay. The sweet & spicy shrimp was great! I will definitely order this again.

The lady who seated us had quite the attitude but we were seated next to the water view - its a small pond but it feels nice. Waiter was great and food was excellent - had a bunch of sushi including the checkerboard which was one of the best raw sushi I have had. I didnt pay for it so cannot comment on the value.

Overpriced and underwhelmed, I will not go here again. One of the rolls, the Las Vegas roll, costs about $14, and if it wasnt cut, the length of the 6 slices together would have been about 4 inches. Its not like its packed with a bunch of stuff, and it certainly is topped with or paired with anything extra.

Great food. I travel a lot. Im probably on the road 40-45 weeks of the year. Ive been in Chicago for the part two months. Im eating at Kona Grill two to three days each week. The food is crisp and clean. Im not sure how else to describe the tastes. The staff is friendly too.

Not a sushi person but the 4 of us tried 6 different rolls plus 1 entree. Everything was absolutely amazing. On point and just enough. Highly recommend this place. Im sure you will not be disappointed with ANYTHING you order here. Cheers.
