THIS. PLACE. RIGHT. HERE!!!!! OMG! Visited this place on recommendation of a couple of my coworkers. Got tired of eating what I normally eat and wanted some down home soul food. I love Southern cuisine being that I am born and raised in Atlanta. I know what REAL southern food should taste like. Location. This place is located in the downtown area of Lawrenceville. It has a very country down home feel (the Square area). Parking is alongside the front of the building. It is located on the corner so you cannot miss it. Upon entering, I was greeted by a lady who told me I could sit wherever. Once seated, I encountered a wonderful waitress by the name of Dawn. Dawn had a heavy northern accent and was as sweet as pie. I asked her about food recommendations. Really didnt matter what she said... that fried chicken was calling my name. LOL! Before I get into the food... I want to say that Dawn was awesome and phenomenal. Her service was exceptional. I tipped her over 100% of my tab total. I have NEVER done that. I had Fried chicken, mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. (Sidebar: I have GOT to stop eating like this!! LOL) The food was mouth watering. Seasoned well, hot and tasty. I was impressed. I topped the chicken off with some Texas Pete hot sauce and my entire life was complete. :-) The chicken was moist. Mac was very cheesy like how your grandmother would make it. It was REAL mac n cheese not the cheese sauce. Dawn, who by the way is part angel and part not so heavenly... (only because she offered me a biscuit to taste since I had never been here - humor is necessary lol)... sent my lunch over the top with biscuits. She brought out a biscuit that was piping hot and in a bowl of either honey or syrup. I cannot tell which one it was. It was so good it didnt matter. My "diet" for the day was SHOT. Mission - absolutely DEFEATED! LOL If you go to this place ... PLEASE TRY THE BISCUITS!! Another viewer tried to warn me but I was hard headed. *crying laughing* Please ask for Dawn if you go. She will make your experience a great one. If you dont get Dawn... it is still ok... you will be pleased regardless. (Now let me go chase Pokemon or run some laps to burn off those calories!!) ;-)

I took a group of seniors today. We were there after a visit to the Veterans Memorial Museum, which was a great experience. We had almost an hour to eat before we loaded the bus that took us there. The food was ok. What was upsetting to me was the reply of one of the rudest waitresses I have ever met. She was wearing a blue top. Too bad I did not ask for her name, and was short out of time to complain to the manager. When I asked her about how long did it take for them to serve in order to let the bus driver know; her reply was extremely rude. She said: "This is not Mc Donalds, so we can not serve that fast"... That kind of reply was not what you expect from someone that is supposed to make your experience pleasant when you choose their business to patronize it. I told her that if we wanted to go to Mc Donalds we would have chosen to go to Mc Donalds, but that was not the case today.... I hope she realizes that it is unnecessary to be ugly to people, and that she acts better with everyone else that comes to eat there. She needs to realize that the customers are the ones that pay her salary. Everybody else that works there seems to be nicer than this waitress. Instead of interacting with the customers, she should use her time doing some extra cleaning in there... I hope the owner reads this review.

Went there today, on Sunday for breakfast....thought we would give locals our business. This place should NOT even be in business ! My husband and I had simple breakfast foods...eggs, bacon, sausage....The food was disgusting....DONOT go there...The food wasnt even as good as Mc Donalds..I got hash browns that had a very weird taste...and, it was one of those square frozen things...which I think the cook popped in the deep fryer....that square was dripping in grease...ug...the bacon was tiny, tiny strips....the butter (which we HAD to ask for) was Country Crock ....geez....! I left still hungry....! When we first entered that place...it smelled very bad....kinda like a cedar closet...ug....it was dirty, and the waitress was over in the corner gobbling food constantly...old shoes stacked up in the corner....that place needs a good scrubbing....Go to Sugar Hill Diner....cheaper AND totally tasty !!!! The real deal !!!!

I hate to do this because I was pretty excited about trying this place with my wife - we sat down and ordered our food, then were served the bread that came with our meals...and a fly was literally baked into the top of one of the cornbread muffins. Needless to say that was the end of our dining experience - mistakes happen, and flies in the south is obviously a problem for any restaurant - with that said how do you serve a customer that? Very poor oversight out of the kitchen, one glance would have revealed that issue. Im sad that we had a stomach turning experience here.

Mediocre at best. Very loud, service was friendly but not very attentive ( no checking on us, had to get our own tableware off another table). Chicken salad was very dry and looked like a naked mound of just shredded dark meat chicken plopped on top of a garden salad. Sandwich was presented having fallen apart on the plate, and the toasted bread was soggy. No prices on the check, so how do you figure the tip? (Pay at the register).

Cute local cafe, but my experience was mixed. Wait person forgot to give me any silverware, I had to ask for it when my food was delivered. However, they brought me a Togo cup of iced tea without asking. Food was so so, biscuit was excellent, buy my eggs over medium came out as over easy and the hash browns were a deep fried pre-processed brick. For a cafe that promises "Southern style cookin" Id expect proper hashbrowns.

Its small, crowded, has limited hours and a small menu. And its good! Everything is great! Southern food at its best. They keep its simple with their rotating daily lunch menu(they only serve lunch M-F). Sides are awesome, tea is cold and sweet. They have salads and sandwiches in addition to the classic "Meat and 2 sides." Its a hidden gem in Lawrenceville and I hope they decide to expand their hours one of these years.

Excellent food and Fantastic service!! We were pleasantly surprised to find out they started opening on Sundays today. The ownership and staff at the Cornerstop Cafe display a genuine care for customers and the quality of food prepared and served which is the closest you will find to the textbook definition of "Southern Hospitality" anywhere. This place is so good youll want to keep it a secret......

Stopped in for lunch. They served me reheated fried chicken hard as a rock. I sent it back and they gave me a fresh made one that was still pink raw in the center which i pointed out to the owner. Macaroni & cheese was old dry and microwaved. Worst part THEY STILL MADE ME PAY and didnt offer me anything to make up for the 2 errors!!! server was nice but be prepared to leave hungry
